Grrl Power #571 – Transmogrification
I’m kind of sad that Sciona’s achieved her goal here, or at least one of them. I was getting used to drawing her with the orc body. It’s a pain in the butt to draw with the stitches and the scar all the extra details that take time to select and color and all that, but without them she loses a certain visual distinctiveness.
Everyone has something about themselves they’d like to fix. Most of use could stand to lose a few pounds, unless your job requires you to be professionally in shape, like an actor, model, fireman, soldier, what have you. Maybe a personal trainer, but I’ve seen personal trainers who could definitely stand to practice what they preach a bit more. Having an out of shape personal trainer is a bit like getting a haircut from a hairdresser with an awful haircut. But I digress.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind fixing my thumbs. My whole life I thought they were double jointed because I could bend them backwards so far I could touch the side of my arm, but I can’t lay them flat across my palm, so I guess they’re single jointed and just on backwards. It’s a minor complaint and has never affected my ability to do anything like use a pencil or chopsticks. I actually never realized people could lay their thumbs across their palms until I was like… I don’t even know, like 38 or something? It doesn’t come up often. The only time it messes me up is when I need a reference for a hand doing something my hand can’t do.
I also broke my ankle once and it’s a little weaker than the other one now, and I messed up one of my shoulders good over the course of about 5 years in the gym. I suppose while I’m at it I could stand to sharpen up my vision, but I’ve been wearing glasses since high school so for the first few months after doing it I’d go to adjust my glasses unconsciously and wind up poking myself in the eyes a thousand times.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. $1 and up, but feel free to contribute as much as you like.
You know, she’s awfully lucky it was stored charged.
Also, who is she claiming to be the heir of, anyway?
Well Sciona has been extremely well briefed, so odds are she knew what state it had been stored in.
Although maybe it was not fully charged and she is now operating with a debt. Maybe it only had 89 charges and she will have an irresistible urge to make up the shortfall, in the next few minutes?
I have absolutely no idea what you are referring to with that. Unless maybe you are querying her sharp teeth, in the final panel? Or her dark elf type looks in general? Or the sparkly transformation effects maybe?
I doubt the dark elf looks are a ‘claim’. Odds are that is her original appearance. The teeth may be part of that, thereby indicating that she could have been a vampire or some kind of demon. Alternatively Sciona may have decided that such teeth will be useful for extracting blood. In which case I doubt she is viewing that as connecting her with some vampire heritage
She has already shown casual contempt for an elder vampire, by taking blood without his concent. So I think even those are just a means to an end, rather than something she identifies with. Likewise if she has added the pointy teeth, the same way that she boosted her bust size.
The word “scion” is a synonym for “heir.”
Yep – that’s what I was getting at.
she does all this borrowing of properties/powers trough blood, I figured her powers are related to the ability to inherit powers from everyone s long as she has enough of their blood, or something like that.
so in that way she’s inheriting from everyone scion of all.
but that is just a random thought I had when hearing the name and seeing the blood powers all those pages ago…
Pretty sure my name means something. Doesn’t mean it’s representative in any way.
I dunno you seem pretty canny to me.
Why thank you. Although I seem to lack a tail.
I was thinking about Varia this weekend in relation to Sciona. Would she get different powers depending on what blood Sciona had coursing through her veins? Or a different power if she touched the Orc body vs. her original head? (Last one is moot now, of course.)
I was also wondering if their supposition of her powers being connected to the target’s genome is accurate. That would imply that Sydney’s ability to use the orbs is genetic. I’m thinking that maybe it’s tied to their “life force” or similar. It would explain why Varia seems to get the ability to use the orbs when touching Sydney.
I also started feeling a little sorry for her (Varia). Hanging on to someone while you (or they) are fighting other people is hard, so this relegates her to “support” – taking advantage of the fact that while Jiggawat couldn’t actually help with the overpass contruction, her gestalt power could for instance. Maybe, the more she uses it, the longer after breaking contact she can hold the power.
This, of course, led me to wonder what would happen if she entered this chamber and touched what was left of Coot/Wyrmil/Any other casualty forthcoming. It hasn’t been said whether or not she’s touched a dead body before, and whether or not she gets powers off of it. It’s just where my mind went this weekend.
As for these latest developments – Maybe she got used to the larger orc breasts and decided she liked them. As for “loyalty” – I realize now that she just has to tell the others that Deus did it to Wyrmil in order to “keep” her minions.
And, now my mind went to Deus being a “Security consultant” for the council. He’s just collecting everything he can get to take back and say “See? This is why you should hire me to do your vault security. We were unable to stop Sciona, but this is how to prevent a repeat.” And he’s videotaping the whole thing, to turn over to the council after a little editing…
Interesting questions. Most of the points stand well. A few exceptions:
Even though Varia thinks that her powers have a genetic basis, there is nothing to indicate that she is right. Whilst various of other characters have a consensus that super powers, in general, cannot be proved to be propagated genetically.
Plus Sydney’s orbs are clearly of a completely different origin to the bulk of the ‘natural born’ supers, or those who may have been altered in some way (be it freak accident or as a laboratory test). So the way that Varia gains her powers need have nothing to do with Halo’s. Even considering the possibility that Varia may be able to control the orbs.
A bird could perch on a hot air balloon’s controls, thereby either venting hot air, or activating the burner. In this way it could be controlling the balloon’s flight (in what I imagine would be a rather random process). But that does not imply that balloons hatch from eggs, nor that a bird flies by being filled with lighter than air gas.
All it does is indicate that a bird could activate a control. Varia may be able to emulate Halo’s control, but that is just Varia’s power doing its thing.
It’s the ADD. The orbs are powered by excess brain activity.
Could you imagine if that’s really what it is? xD
Although, my current runnning hypothesis, is that powers are intrinsic to the individuals, but that the power awakens in a way that the subconscious decides the conscious mind will be most accepting of, which in the case of many means it looks like an external source (and may include some modification of external sources). Maxima liked appreciating the hidden value of things, and discovers her power in a geode. Sydney loves hunting for buried treasure while diving and gets her power while diving, Harem is born with her power because she likes experimenting with her own body (get your head out of the gutter!) as is visible by how different each of her bodies are instead of keeping them similar. etc.
The Orbs could be linked to her genetically. Maybe they scan for DNA markers when touched and simly imprinted on Syd.
Honestly, I think it might be a bit more conceptual than just genetics. I think she might be copying what power she would get if she were in the circumstances the person she is touching is. Sort of an ultimate “what if” power. Thus, she gets related but distinct powers.
And Sydney’s orbs look at that and go “screw you”.
Actually Sydney’s control of the orbs being genetic is not ruled out. When she first found them they could have put an innocuous marker in there and that is what Varia reads on her.
That is possible.
Any device trying to ‘put an innocuous marker’ in my DNA will get a good spanking mind. And anyone trying to get a device, to do that to me, will have difficulty sitting down. Until they have surgery to remove it!
Actually Sydney asked something very similar to this. Namely whether Varia could use blood samples (or, by implication body tissue samples). Which Varia indicated she has never thought of trying. As such I think we can rule out dead bodies in general. Had she attempted such, she would have been able to give Halo an answer, as regards any dead tissue.
This is just to say that Varia would not know, herself, until she has conducted suitable testing, or an emergency thrusts the need upon her, to find out.
As Sydney pointed out, being able to use such samples would free Varia up from needing to have a gestalt partner to hand. It would also make her vastly powerful. Any power she wants would be at her fingertips. Limited at first mind, depending on how many people she has formed a gestalt with, and taken a sample. Ultimately though she can have her pick of the best of seven billion gestalts
Limited, of course, in how fast she can test such. But testing itself will speed up if she need not even speak to the individuals. She (or those monitoring her) need simply record whatever impressions she gains as to the power’s nature, and the results of the subsequent testing.
Probably not a wise idea. Not unless she intends to kill Cthillia and the other witnesses here. Word will get back to her other minions (fast if Cthillia chats with them), and her credibility will be even further damaged, due to having lied to them.
Not to mention that Wyrmil will probably tell them she is lying too. Many commentators believe he will get better, and consider that he was showing signs of regenerating.
Death is not a big deal for Vampires amongst other monsters, possibly including Wyrmil. It is just a lifestyle choice.
“Full English breakfast for me today, I am expecting to die a few times, so will need the energy.”
Alternatively, they could get one of the Bio-Tinker types to rig up a small, technically alive, chunk of meat with a heart and breathing sacs, from supervillains that refused to reform.
Course, that’s something you would see in Worm, rather than this.
Still, imagine the potential there. she could hotswap powers by slotting in different wiggling chunks of meat.
In the case of Sydney, Varia could probably convince her to be carried around wearing a halter top in a backless papoose sown to one of Varia’s shirts with the intervening material cut out and a harness to support her weight. They would then have back to boob contact and could become a four-armed orb slinger!
“Maybe she got used to the larger orc breasts and decided she liked them.”
WHAT orc breasts? Near as I’ve been able to tell, the orc body appears male. I even went back to double-check my impression. I thought for quite a while that Sciona was male, -a ending usually denoting female notwithstanding.
Nope, flat-as-a-steamrolled-pancake orc female
*chuckles.* Only +2? Must be some elven blood somewhere in there. >:D
Well, she IS a dark elf.
After reading the text below, I’m sorry that Sciona didn’t change something unexpected like her thumbs or an eyelid. Boobs were the easy joke.
I approve of the unexpected. But it would be darned hard to do a one-panel gag that actually worked with either option. The boobs are the easy joke for a reason. They are something that society collectively obsesses over (and for guys there is a corresponding 12″ fixation).
Which both means that it requires no explanation and is something that readers can empathise with. Whereas not many will be understanding enough to realise that some individuals can get just as obsessed over what they consider to be a ‘freaky’ thumb or eyelid.
Especially if it is.
Considering the amount of back problems (as well as other problems) you can have with larger breasts I can’t wait to see if Sciona might have regrets on that later. :P
You don’t even need to have large(r) breasts to have back problems…
Most back problems and ESPECIALLY those related to breast size can be remedied with a regimen of back exercises, usually in just a few weeks. They come from modern people doing too little physical exercise so our bodies degenerate. Only with genetic deformations and injuries do you require more than that.
Oh, and if you have a bad bed that can cause problems too although I suppose that would fall under the injury category.
In case it hadn’t been mentioned before – this IS a ‘T&A’ comic. If DaveB can find a good in-story reason to draw hot women with nice breasts, he will.
lol
Damn you, convenient shadows and energy swirls! DAMN YOUUUU
Just think of them as hentai tentacles, groping her naughty bits.
Hentacles?
Feel the same way :(
HA! And all this time I thought she *was* an Orc that had been sloppily beheaded and emergency grafted…
No, seriously…I always assumed she was an Orc…
You…you realize the head is where they keep the brain, right? You know, the organ you think with?
Not unless we have an expert orc anatomist in our community? They may well have their brain in their stomachs, or their spinal chords may serve as the thinking part, whilst the bits in the head are just for sensory processing.
Plus if you examine where the cut went it was through where the brain would be, if it was in the head. So, even with the brain there, the bottom part of her brain, would be orc.
All it requires is for the seat of consciousness to be in that part, and she would still identify as orc. Which would not be incompatible with the above scene, as an orc might well view a dark elf body as being superior.
In most canons, orc biology and human biology are mostly equivalent (except for some dental work and muscle-bodyfat ratio things, and the whole grey or green skin thing.).
They do end up looking the same, when fired out of cannons.
Or fired at with cannons.
Or both
As would a bowl of pasta.
So, how would you know? I mean, if Sciona grafted her head onto an Orc body, and the Orc wound up being in control, but having access to Sciona’s memories due to the merged nervous systems, people might have a hard time noticing.
Thumb works backwards? Rakshasa confirmed?
+1
Agreed!
Calling it now; Sciona is a banshee. That’s why she becomes more powerful after using the artifact, because she gets her old voice box and, er, lungs back. That also can explain the fangs, since (according to some) banshee are elven vampires.
Hey, that makes sense! The long, floating hair gives off that vibe a lot too.
Sounds good. No pun intended.
Mind you if Deus is aware of that, and was not bluffing at all, then it means that Vale must have the means to counter a banshee’s wail. Given that such is meant to be fatal, it would require some serioius countermeasures.
For instance Vale might have the power to control sound. Thus allowing her sonic attacks herself. Plus the ability to dampen any hostile sonic attack, like a banshee’s wail. Or she may simply have a power that could be used quicker than screaming. Ignoring gaze attacks, as that is Cthillia’s thing, she may have mental powers? Being able to mentally command Sciona would work with or without banshee powers, for example.
Or Deus may have just issued ear-plugs to his whole team. If that is known to work, that is. Works for sirens. May not work for banshees.
I thought it was a troll body, not a orc, that her half head was attached to, allowing the troll’s natural regeneration to keep her alive.
no it was an orc, it was her own blood magic keeping her alive, or rather she stitched it together and it stayed running after that
Yea, although it would have required a minion to do the stitching (assuming the more probable instance of her dark elf head being Sciona), given the lack of hands as a mostly decapitated head.
Notably Sciona required troll blood infusions, in order to regenerate. As per her banter with Sydney. So it is this which her minion could have been keeping her brain alive with, until an orc body was acquired and the two grafted together.
Whereas if she was doing that as an orc, without any eyes, or whatever organ was in the top bit of her head, that was a pretty impressive bit of touch-surgery.
Actually, one other possibility. She may have used her blood magic to possess whoever came into contact with her blood. That way she would have had a fully-functional body to do the work, regardless of whether she was the decapitated orc or dark-elf (/vampire/demon/banshee).
Most likely the latter, with the assistance of a minion. But interesting speculating on the extreme alternatives. Given the genre such can occur more often than might be expected.
Actually, since Sciona is a blood mage, in the orc body she would have had all the knowledge of her blood mage, but not the correct body to use it properly. Now that her body is back to normal, she is more likely to use magic naturally instead of needing a lot more extra magic sigil and blood for her spells.
Yeah, and when she punched a hole through Wyrmy, she cut her face rather than the more typical palm or somewhere else on the body
Good point. Both recalling that and seeing that it supported the argument very well.
Im just waiting for Deus to make some smart ass comment about Scion feeling the need to upgrade her boobs. Its just to good for him to pass on.
I doubt it. Deus has an agenda that he has been operating to. Namely to undermine Sciona’s confidence, so that she will not attack, and to widen the rift between Sciona and her henchmen. Having a dig at a magical boob-job would not progress either aspect. Sciona now has big boobs, so will not give a hoot about Deus’s opinion of that. Whilst boob size is not likely to affect minion loyalty, either way.
For instance if Cthillia is envious she can just decide to give herself even bigger ones, when she gets to use the Epimorph herself (after recharging it). As Sciona has promised her that, it may only serve to increase her cooperation with Sciona. Likewise any male minions monitoring these events may find the bigger boobs to be more appealing. Deus being catty about that will not lessen such attraction, but will just make Deus seem petty.
Whilst I personally do not like boob enhancement surgery, or the promotion of such, I would not knock any woman who chose to go down that route. Advise against it, if they were just giving in to peer or media pressure, yes, but not degenerate them for making the choice. It is their self-image that they are trying to enhance, so not other people’s business (unless there is good reason to believe that they will regret it, or otherwise be endangering themselves).
So, you’re saying that Deus has been negging her.
Deus is *exactly* the type of person that would consider negging to be “just being socially smart”, and people who think it’s being a complete asshole to be in denial and limiting themselves.
So, not unlikely.
‘Negging’? o_O
NEGative ‘compliments’. “I don’t usually find (X) attractive, but you make it work!”
Oh, thought that might be the case, but wasn’t sure, thank you
However, her focus on her appearance in the transformation likely makes her appear even more petty to her minions.
She was Female!? i did not realize that lol
It has been mentioned in blogs before (by referring to Sciona using ‘her’). Orc bodies are hard to tell one gender from the other. Not to mention the possibility that the orc body may have been male.
Some other notes: Sciona stabbed herself not with the actual blade, but with tiny prongs on the opposite side of the hilt. Does this mean that something …interesting… will happen to someone stabbed with the actual blade now (like them becoming clones of Sciona to one extent or another)?
If her hair normally floats all the time, that explains her previous ‘bun of steel’; she may hate the feeling of hair on her neck (or her body’s neck, previously).
Are her boobs literally +2 (at least) weapons now?
since the blade has to be charged at the cost of ninety lives, I’m guessing you have to kill them with the blade?
the orb taketh ‘power’ out through the blade, and giveth with the prongs?
Lol.
Boobs of Suffocation +2.
“…as the challenged party, I shall choose the weapons to be used in our duel!”
Sorry, was daydreaming.
So that would allow the challenger to choose the place as being a pool of chocolate.
Yorp, stay away from the chocolate. It’s bad for you.
Only if he consumes it
More likely it was +2 sizes (heh, had been reading that as “at last”, as though she had been waiting to do that for decades, specially considering the orcess was even flatter than her normal body, giving rise to the confusion over the body’s gender with many believing it to be male)
I’m fairly certain those are x2. As in “at least doubled in size”
It looks like an ‘x’, but it’s simply a ‘+’ on an angle (tilt your head, no, the other way, until the ‘2’ is straight and you will see it is a ‘+’)
https://wapsisquare.com/comic/cups-and-bands/
Explains how breast/bra size is determined.
As Sciona only adjusted the size of her boobs and not the underlying body area it is a +3 (at least) adjustment.
Ka-SPLAT, stupid clone.
Was supposed to say +2
Am I the only one to be reminded of the Beelzeboss scene? Or rather, am I the only one to feel it subtly intentional that in the last panel Sciona went with “whole” instead of “complete”?
I think Sciona and the Devil look a teeny bit different.
OMG! Your name SamHaine reminded me of a great online comic/graphic novel that I read a while back, and lost a link to it when my computer died. About a girl that went into halloween land, the harvest moon was a big weaponized hot air ballon. Now I have to find it again, I can’t remember the name of it. The villain calls himself Samual Haine. I have to find it again to binge read it on the 31st.
ZFR. You can’t find it online, it was a novel.
Ninety-nine lives, wasted so Sciona could cheat death …. and give herself a magical boob job. =_=
She already cheated death, decades ago when the Council failed to kill her
I wonder how long it will take Scoria to realize she is now standing buck naked in a room full of other people, seeing as how the Epimorph kinda disintegrated her clothes together with her old body
I would have originally said that she did not seem like the kind of person who would care, with body grafts and all, but this has changed my mind about her, and she may very well be rather opinionated about it. She is steadily losing her cool points as Deus is snatching them up. I would say she’s about 20% less cool now.
Or, it’s one of them magical transformation sequences as seen in many anime (namely “Sailor Moon” as a prime example) and she only appears to be naked (just be glad Sci-fright didn’t do the actions :P)
It looked like there was a full “moon”.
Haha, butts.
Here’s an idea for the boobs – Maybe she has a plan to pass herself off as a super-powered individual. Given the general physical state of supers (Sydney excluded), giving herself an upgrade in that area may assist with a convenient cover story. It may keep the council from getting directly involved in any skirmishes with Archon if it can be written off as a super-brawl, rather than supers vs. supernatural…
It could also be that the culture she grew up in equated bigger boobs with power, or maybe she only had issues of Cosmo while she was first recovering. Heck, maybe the upgrade in cup size will change the way that the Veil disguises her so she’s less likely to be recognized on the street. Maybe decades in an orc body made her want to look more feminine.
Thinking back to Deus’ comment on whether she’ll be powerful enough after using the Epimorph, I agree with Sel and Guesticus above that her magic uses HER blood, so now that she has so much more she has more power. That’s the only way I see the use of this item as granting her more power, unless there’s stuff going on we can’t see (which is entirely possible).
storing it in a charged state is rather much a mistake.
Lets face it, if she’d made it in alone, she could have reached the ogre arm through, swatted the dagger out, and then still had a hand to use it with…
Or she could have used a pot plant.
I think they kept it like that in case there was an apocalyptic scenario which needed it being used urgently. There are never 99 red shirts on guard, ready to be sacrificed, at precisely the right moment.
See, they would have been totally f**ked without it!
My theory is that the Epimorph was obtained after a last moment thwart of some dastardly plot. It was not destroyed as it was judged too useful to waste that full charge. However, the council just could not agree on who got to use it. So to deep storage it went until the council could decide on a need great enough.
I LOVE this theory. It fits the world as we know it so very well.
Heck, that might even be what got kicked out of the council. She came in all orci-ified, insisted on using it to become whole again, got shot down, and decided she wanted it anyway because she didn’t like being considered a dude all the time.
Great theory, but she got the orcess body after the Council tried to murder her, and they thought they had sucked seeded (it’s why they didn’t believe she was responsible for the attack at first)
Called it.
Sciona seems like the type of genius villain that is really good at planning, but less good at improvising. Good on DaveB for having that type of variance and depth to his villain characters. She also seems to reply on an unhesitating, overwhelming viciousness that catches most opponents off guard (see what happened to Sydney and Pixel before the reset), but it takes a while for her to recover from being surprised herself.
I am very interested in seeing if she is more protective of her “own” body than she was of the orc body; this could seriously cramp her style until she adjusts, if so.
I suppose “Byoing” is fine, but I’m a tad disappointed it wasn’t the ole’ Grrl Power classic of “Embiggen.”
If the evil in this thing is in the charging and it was “Too powerful not to be used.” Who would store it charged? Wouldn’t you want to deflect an asteroid or grow a Luke Skywalker from that hand you found in Bespin before you tossed it in the vault? At the very least it makes it harder for a wold be thief to grant themselves T-1000 powers and escape.
It was possibly obtained fully charged, and then stored that way because the council could not agree on who got to use it.
Besides, when you really need an emergency rebuild, you need it now, not, “just wait a while we commit mass murder.”
Wait… so it petrifies things?
So a rock creature could just reach in without any problem?
Also: Byoing♪
…Next strip have Heavenly Sword cut her head off again. Just for the fun of seeing her have to graft it onto a new body again until the knife is recharged. :P
Nnngh. What is it with fictional women all thinking that THE BIGGER YOUR BREASTS ARE THE BETTER. Like, why???? Actual real life human women get breast reduction surgery and guy gang up on them whining they are giving up something wonderful YEAH LIKE BACK PAIN.
I wish I could one day see a female character in a work I like REDUCE her boobs with magic.
(Okay, there’s Grace in EGS:NP, she does it both ways casually and makes me happy, but maybe more than one…)
Or just a character who was HAPPY with the body she has, without any bullshit about how it’s not attractive enough.
“We all have things we would like to fix about our bodies” yeah, like pimples and aching feet. Leave women’s ‘insufficient attractiveness’ alone >_<
(For reference from my personal experience: I'm a girl, and my boobs have been pretty small for my entire adolescence, but lately have been getting bigger along with my hips and tummy. And it's actually been annoying me, like it just doesn't look right in the mirror. My mom talked me into buying two push-up bras and oh god it just looks so weird. I wish I could wear nothing but sports bras, the kind that makes you look two sizes smaller… My personal aesthetic is built on me being small-boobed, and it keeps annoying me that everyone assumes it's physically impossible for a girl to be like that)
PS yes I am aware this is just one character making a personal choice that does not mean every woman ever would do the same. Except she is fictional and not real and actually it's the -author- making the choice to have her make this choice, and -that- is what makes me slightly uncomfortable.
You have a male perspective of your own body. That’s just fine.
But you’re also nitpicking at something that is widespread due to lack of physical musculature. The characters in this comic have a lot of musculature. Fit women don’t tend to talk about back strain.
I mean it’s acceptable to get annoyed by male stereotypes, but just remember that you are using your own version of a male stereotype upon yourself, then getting annoyed when that doesn’t measure up to someone else’s stereotype.
Women artists tend to make characters with these same traits. I usually find that people who like action tend to stray toward larger chests, while people who like conversation, (such as Anne of Green Gables) tend to like smaller chests.
There’s probably no correlation between the two, but I do notice that the people who create tend to be action-oriented, while the people who don’t, tend to talk more than they create.
Actually, for males (and yes they actually did a STUDY to figure out this particular bit of the self-evident), it’s more about shape than about size. They found that men as a whole tend to prefer, er, well, round, firm and perky. Small and masculine is a no-sell, and Bigguns that sag are a no-go.
Well, your PERSONAL aesthetics aside, the overwhelming majority of females go through at least puberty hoping, waiting, and praying for their bustline to come in, So the more universal experience of women is spending at least a portion of their lives wishing their boobs were larger— regrets about excessive size generally come later in life if at all. So a writer wishing to relate with the highest number of readers is going to use that, if only as a gag.
Actually, I also went through puberty wishing for a larger bustline. Somewhere between twelve and fourteen that changed though.
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘male aesthetics’ but the point is, girls do BECOME insecure about their boobs because people keep saying that bigger=better. That’s the annoying part.
Not that I’m saying this is something I stand by, but one man I grew up near said “anything more than a handful is a waste.”
Probably because the only handfuls he got were those of teenagers
Just worth noting that Sciona has spent a long time with a male orc body, so from that perspective, it makes sense. For one, there’s the whole “tired of being flat and being questioned of my right to be in the women’s bathroom” thing, and for a second, she’s gotten more than her normal share of dude horomones after being a lithe female elf whose brain has been running off of a body filled with muscular male orc biology, so she’s probably got a higher-than-normal appreciation for ample cleavage as a result of that as well.
Female orc body
That said (Grace being awesome, btw), another boob-reduction character is Princess Zelda who turns into they very flat Sheik (although that’s depending on whether you’re going by video game which calls it a disguise vs mangas which are also canon which say it’s a spell that transformed her into a man, making her one of the earlier FTMs in videogames.)
Take a trip to any Asian or Mideast airport. Ads for plastic surgery for women are absolutely everywhere. We’re talking about five billion people here, and that’s how they all voted. This CANNOT be due to “western” influence. We’re good, but not THAT good.
Well, didn’t anticipate that. I thought the character was a dude, not a chic.
A common misconception. I would guess I have seen (in all) over 20 comments along those lines.
If the figure quoted in another thread is accurate (something to the effect that ‘only about 2% of webcomic readers might be expected to comment’), then that would put it at over 1,000 readers who thought the same!
Seems to me she’s accomplished, ah, TWO OTHER goals…>:D
Bigger bewbs is one goal, what’s the other? o_O
count ’em. one, two.
Yeah, and most people (male and female) count them as a set, so unless she “BYOING”ed them individually, it only counts as one goal (“To have bigger breasts” not “To have a bigger left bewb, oh, and to have a bigger right bewb as well, just to even things out”)
Hmm I mistook that Sciona for a guy, but in fact is a woman. Hmm and now that she is whole is a sight better looking than I thought. Okay my brain fell in the gutter now pardon me exit stage left. :)
Better looking? Nah. Sexier looking? Sure. Her previous look invited you to think about her more, question more, and looked undeniably badass. Sure, your first thought looking at her before was “that looks painful” and “she’s mismatched parts” but then you think, “But you should have seen the other guy” and THEN you think “Oh wait… I AM seeing the other guy… dang.”
Previous-body sciona was crazy intimidating, and very distinctive, and its own appearance contained its own proof-in-the-pudding warning label. It was the better look in its own right unlike her new form which is more generic.
…just as long as you didn’t try to envision her trying to enjoy a bowl of soup.
I. AM. WHOLE!
….And naked.
Hey, at least she did it the right way round. Otherwise we would have no need to debate whether that was a male or female orc body.
…and while she’s exulting, Heavenly Sword cuts her head off at the mouth again.
Sciona (thought bubble): DAMMIT!
:-D
Heh.. now I feel smug.
Nice call!
Tenacious D anyone?
That has been suggested, yes.
I don’t think you look like them though. Maybe you could play a riff or two, so we can decide whether you sound like them?
I understand you totally. I myself would change everything from the ankles down. My feet are a mess of too thick nails (I have to use a bonzai cutter on small ones and the big toe nails are 3mm opac light grey and I have to file them and strangely they aquired a polished sheen from socks moving) and cracked callous grey underfeet skin (that destroy socks) on thin ankles (the kind that twist easy) that can’t hold up socks that fits my feets.
Tweak something? If I wasn’t careful my family wouldn’t recognize Me! Does that mean I’m too self conscious?
No. About average.
In The Matrix when they go back in and explain the hair and lack of ports as “residual self image” all I could think was I would be 40lbs lighter and way better looking when I went back in and used my own self image vs what I actually look like.
…And for some bizarre reason, I always identified the orc part as Sciona more than the upper half of her head. I mean, that’s where her brain is, I should have realized that, but for some reason I didn’t. Of course…Now she’s lost her most unique and defining visual trait. It’s kinda like when Cell started transforming and looking more human, suddenly I didn’t like him as much.
So can Sciona cast ka-pants? What spell level is that, anyway?
I assume that Sciona’s going to get a new sidebar bio from now on? Not so big on the identifying scars all of a sudden.
Is it wrong that I liked her with the smaller breasts? seems a waste to me.
If I could change how I look… I’d get rid of all these moles and skin tags on my back.
Also I’d grow horns. Utricating hairs on the underside of my forearms. Werewolf fangs. My eye color is gold naturally, so I’d leave that alone. Regrow my teeth since my insurance won’t let me have dentures. Repair my legs so I could walk again. Undo the brain damage so I don’t have tinnitus anymore. Remove my autism-based superhearing so only sounds loud to others hurt me. Harden my muscles and make myself unable to be fat. Not look like the male supers, I don’t want that. Just my normal Portugese muscle mass. Strong, compressed muscles that don’t show and surprise anyone who sees how strong I really am.
