Grrl Power #536 – Dressed to compress
Maxima doesn’t like words like slut and whore because they’re less descriptive than they are judgmental. Also she hates there’s nothing equivalent for men.
“If you ever need proof of the non-egalitarian nature of society…” she starts as everyone eyes the exit.
She’s not a fan of slut shaming even if some women act in ways she thinks reflects poorly on her gender as whole. But man, sometimes you’ve just got to call a spade a spade. In those situations she prefers slightly more comical adjectives like floozie and trollop. Anyway, “Colossal Space Floozie” makes me laugh every time I read it.
As I was drawing it, it occurred to me that this is as close to a skintight superhero outfit that Max is likely to ever get in to, barring some sort of skintight clothing ray, or a situation where the only clothes available are from Dabbler’s suitcase. Who knows, maybe it’ll happen one day.
Almost forgot to post this page. I was heading to bed when I remembered it was Wednesday evening. After A-kon I actually caught a case of con crud, which has never happened before. It was pretty mild, but enough to zone me out for a day or two, and my wife is out of town, so totally lost track of what day of the week it was. But I’m over it more or less. Hopefully I can get to the gym today. Mysteriously, there’s little else in the world that motivates me to work out more than attending a comic convention.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. $1 and up, but feel free to contribute as much as you like.
Smart
Likable
Utterly cute
Talented
What is wrong with being a S.L.U.T.?
Because they’re smart and talented in only one field. If you want something besides sex then sluts aren’t very useful.
Mmm, I am sure there will be some sluts who are more broadly talented than you portray. OK quite a few may be academically stunted, if they spend too much time in the sack and partying, rather than studying. But there are bound to be those who find enough of a balance to excel.
I certainly wouldn’t mind meeting one who claimed to have achieved that.
Although I would prefer to find someone gifted who was after a long-term relationship. Although I should add ‘attractive’ and ‘does want sex too’ to the list of requirements. Although I do not mind working my way up from snuggles. And am flexible on ‘attractive’. ‘Plain’ is OK, as is ‘pretty but marred’ (say with a scar). ‘Pretty but married’ is out.
Ooooh, Hah!
Dabbler’s voice bubbles are censorship again!
*sigh* oh Dabbler.
First we had Bubble-Boy, now we get Bubble-Girl.
Hopefully she doesn’t have too much gas.
Sydney is bubble girl.
Ladies don’t fart.
On the one hand Dabbler is unphasable, on the other hand she is easy to penetrate.
Assuming Dabbler’s outfit was inspired by Emp’s in the Empowered comic, now webcomic at https://www.empoweredcomic.com/comic/volume-1-page-1 They described skintightness about 5 or 8 pages in.
Possibly, given that Dave does list the comic in his recommendations side bar. However I suspect it is just a generic design, intended to poke fun at mainstream skimpy outfits for super heroines. This because Dave usually does not hesitate to mention his inspirations.
Or, if he put it in as an Easter Egg, for observant fans to pick up the homage, he will typically confirm if someone calls it correctly. Empowered has been mentioned on earlier comments pages, with no such confirmation.
Actually this kind of reminds me of a conversation that we had at one point in our Heroes Unlimited campaign. One of the characters had “Bio Armor” as a power, but for insisted on wearing a trench coat over it. because of how she thought of how she thought her powers worked, Basically the character saw the “Bio armor” as literally just being there own skin when it was “on”(she had Bio armor, energy expulsion light, and environmental adaptation) It lead to a few hilarious conversations early on until everyone else caught on.(But she did have a point! when she was wearing the Bio armor her regular clothing literally went away) she eventually got a couple of sets of clothing she could wear over it.
Also one of the conversations ended up with one of the police officers Darn near arresting one of her teammates for her behavior on the subject on the first day,
Emp is really stressed out because her suit fits close enough so that bitchy superheroes can tell if she has shaved that day
The terms “slut” and “whore” can be used for men too… but just usually aren’t.
Besides, it always struck me that the key aspect of being a “whore” is being paid for something undignified… emphasis on the “paid” part. It doesn’t make sense to call anyone a whore if they’re not even getting any material compensation for whatever they’re doing.
So yeah, by my definition, pretty much all board-members of all major companies are whores.
I’m picturing a flashback to the last time Max hit the beach in a swimsuit and it causing people to go blind.
“AUGH, IT’S LIKE LOOKING INTO GOD’S ASSHOLE!”
“HER BOD IS TOO ROCKIN, I WAS NOT WORTHY!”
Haha I get it why you placed the text bubbles there where they are! :D
