Grrl Power #45 – Mopping up
Looks like Max has gotten enough entertainment out of Sydney, now that things went and got serious she decided to put an end to it. Really, if she’s fast enough to catch a bullet, she could have stopped the robbers before they had finished saying “Everybody get down” but people don’t appreciate it as much when you save them from danger they didn’t even know was there. Maxima is pragmatic that way.
I was wondering if Maxima was going to out Sydney as a Super given the apparently public knowledge of same back in the early comics, but now I am wondering if Maxima is even sure Sydney *is* a Super just yet. Is something else due to happen that forces Sydney to use whatever is in the bag publicly?
with the exception of 2 strips everything falls under the narration heading of “a few months ago i was your everyday normal person until.. well ill just show you…”
I understand that, and more or less it is my point. If both robbers are down and out of the fight, something else has to be the thing that ‘outs” Sydney. The question is whether that something else is going to happen in the bank or if it happens later.
Tis entirely possible we will have several days or even weeks of events shown to us before we catch up to the time of those very first strips. More fun that way I suppose. Watching Sydney adapting to her ‘coming out’ would be so much more fun that the Sydney already established as a Super.
“several days or even weeks of events”
try more than 6 years. :D
Ok realize this is a mix of future and past news for anyone up to this point.
In this setting….
Classic supers, ala Max, most of the main cast and so is on, look like super beefed up and bigger than life sized supermodels that can pull in serious money from being models. In fact the only exception is one that Literaly looks like several supermodels at the same time. Max Already knows Sydney is not a super by that definition. At all. But. She noticed the tube acting unusual.
So at this point she already knows that A. Sydney may literaly be that would version of a super Teen or younger, or B. There’s something in that tube that is not normal and C she knows more about shotgun than she’s letting on and is still not sure just what the heck happened.
You know I had an idea that could be a humorous side story. All your characters have various (how should I say this) mental flaws. If their employer is like most uptight government types they will want to change that. Enter some poor smuck who has to counsel them and try to make them more “public friendly”.
I.E. “Mr. Dicker” from the Incredibles. BTW everyone should get the DVD and go through the ‘extras’ stuff. Some of it is incredibly funny, including the files on all the dead supers who only get referenced in the movie. Some of them were a little touched in the head. Although my personal favorite was the videoblog about Violet’s voice actress. She was enough of a basketcase to make Sydney look like Mrs. Functional.
I agree wholeheartedly and yes the voice actor for violet was a little “different” if she was rich she’d be called eccentric. But I also thought she was a very interesting person because of her “strangeness” but people have called me weird many times too.
Oh I thought she was great! I’d love to hang out with her. But she was a basket case, although not anymore so than my fiance, so….
Did you listen to the super’s audiofiles? They were funny too. One was a complete rip on the Governator and this was before his breakup.
so that ‘board now’ line totally reminds me of the evil vampire Willow from Buffy. I loved it then and i still love it now!
Dag nab it Sil, you beat me to that observation!
Actually, I remember the line coming from Evil Witch Willow to Warren, just before she…
At least Max didn’t hit the guy so hard his skin came off!
I’m glad someone else remembers Evil Willow; I think its like Evil Willow’s line or what ever.
The first time Willow said “Bored now” was as a vampire in the Wish episode. The second time was with Warren.
Just noticed this, but last panel he was shooting with his left hand, and in this panel the gun is in his right hand.
Was that “bored now” in reference to Willow from Buffy? If so, you get major super awesome points.
Also this is an awesome comic, keep it up! Great drawing!
Oh… Someone noticed that above me.
I read this forum since 2 week and I want to sign in and say hi to everyone
“Murder too”
I’d say that was murder 1 =P
How To Cross Country Ski Video
Snowboard Wide 06
I love the focus-fade in the first line. Adds impact to the, well, lack of impact.
I get the reference that little tagline thing at the bottom is making! \o/
…I…should have recognized that tagline when I first started reading. Ah, I miss City Of
She reminds me of Hellsing Abridged Alucard.
This is good thing.
The ‘bored now’ line and the super-speed ass-kicking both remind me of TeamFourStar’s Goku. It is hilarious to imagine someone as straight-laced as Maxima resembling that fight-happy loon even for a moment.
