Grrl Power #44 – Crime Fightin’ Lessons
Oh no Sydney’s been shot and… Oh wait, none of you thought that for a second. I don’t know why stories, be they movies, TV shows or comics bother with the fake cliff hangers like these, no one is tricked into thinking the main character is really in mortal peril at any point in the story. Also, if you didn’t have to wait a week to see the next page, this wouldn’t even register as one of those not-cliffhangers, but that’s the limitation of this format. Of course, if the first time you’re reading this is long after it’s been posted, then ignore this whole paragraph.
But at least bullets are in the air, it’s a fair bet we’ll see some super powers next week.
I have this fear that the next update will be a matrix like view of the bullet slowing down and somebody doing some form of Neo dance.
Hmm… Do the Neo!!
*Proceeds to twist his body in amazingly painful ways*
if that buckshot messes up Maxim’s shirt he’s going to find out what his own ass tastes like
What buckshot? its a hand gun there is no crap-load of tiny pellets there is one bullet.
you know, I’ve always wondered why buckshot or similar “bullet” types are only used in a shotgun, I mean why not make a cartridge pistol-sized and use that?
I am sorry, I’m not sure what you are asking. But the idea for buckshot, a mixture of metal pellets and gun power, Are normally used in hunting animals, such as dear. You do not want buckshot fired from a hand gun. The purpose of buckshot is to spread out and maximize the chances of hitting a target. It would sooner blow up in your hand then hit a target.
There are a few revolvers that can use a 410 shotgun shell, but those tend to have Mixed reviews around here.
beyond that you do find “Varmint loads” for handguns, there not useful at all as an Anti personnel round, unless you shoot them in the face,(which can result in permanent blindness but usualy not fatal unless your at extreamly close range) and are mostly used to shoot snake rat and coon and other small critters at fairly close range..
Huh. Never in mortal peril? You must have never seen Dragon Ball Z then. The main characters all died at least once. Goku died three times, in fact. Yeah they all got wished back, but there near the end it was unclear.
Doesn’t that kind of remove the drama? “The third time I got killed it just made me mad.”
To be fair, very few people were watching Dragon Ball Z for the gripping drama.
This is true I for one found the story gripping and
…
KICK HIS ASS GOKU!!!!!!!!!!!
Tis but a scratch.
“Son of an Eel waxer your face is hard!”
I laughed so hard at that line. I don’t know why. :)
I thought for a while Maxima was wearing green eyeshadow, but then after this comic I realized it’s a reflection of her hat. Rather cool. The reflection of her chest onto her arm in panel six is a neat detail.
I once saw a film called “Das Boot”. some older 2nd World War film. It was very good, it really had all the tension all through the movie. You really didn’t know if they were going to survive or not. Haven’t seen such well-done tension in any other movie. though I don’t watch a lot of them…
Yeah I’m archive diving again so late comment: This got me thinking. If I were Syd I’d say ‘Lady you want to talk “tactically poor choice?” There are two of us and two of them, I knew that and figured you’d be professional enough to take out his friend instead of standing there and critiquing.’
“Son of an eel waxer” is such an amazing line :)
About Maxima’s cap, since the underside is in shadow, it would reflect very little light onto Maxima’s face, so would barely add any green at all.
rereadingthe archive here and i noticed something. is the pale patch of skin on maximas arm her stat dumping from armor to speed?
No it’s supposed to be her boob reflecting in her arm. The amount of reflectivity Max shows varies as I got used to drawing her, but I mostly gave up on it since it never really looked right.
Okay “Son of an eel waxer” is in a whole different league than Lenore who I mentioned before. Sydney wins at insults.
