Grrl Power #321 – Naming rights
I have more multi tipped screwdrivers than I have any reasonable need for. Every time I go into a home improvement store, I feel a compulsion to buy one. Or a LED flashlight. It’s the same compulsion I get when I go into a comic shop. It’s nearly impossible for me to leave without a new set of dice.
Ren’s powers aren’t really just super speed and strength. It’s really more reflexes than speed. He can move very fast, but it’s not the sort of super speed that lets him outrun a race car. “Super adrenaline” is really more of his elevator pitch for his powers. There’s more to them than that, but I should get out of the habit of trying to explain everything on one or two pages right as it’s introduced. It’s ok to throw an idea out there then revisit it later when that person is doing something with their power in a more show don’t tell fashion, or more realistically for me, show and also tell. It’s something I’d like to try and transition the comic to. More explain as it happens rather than people standing around talking about stuff.
#MakeComics: I hear people ask artists if they use a lot of references when they draw. It depends on what you already know how to draw and what you’re drawing. I’m generally pretty good with anatomy, but my webcam folder is full of shots of my own hands, and I always need pictures of expressions and heads in different angles. And expressions in different angles. In addition to those usual references, here are some other things I searched for to use as references:
Hallway: for lighting reference in panel 6. The “corner” behind Ren is supposed to be a wall that ends at the lightswitch, then the blueish wall is a perpendicular hallway leading to another room, but I couldn’t figure out how to make the lighting look right. Still need to work on that. The problem with googling “hallways” is that almost every shot I could find was just a photo taken straight down a hallway, no hallways connecting to a room. I googled “kitchens” after that looking for rooms with connecting hallways and didn’t have much luck. My human bodies/faces/hands reference folders (and pre-existing knowledge) are pretty flush. Obviously my architectural knowledge, and the lighting thereof need some supplementing.
On the previous page I searched for “firing range” “shooting range” “military firing range” in order to find some common signage you’d find in such places to populate some of the background with, but 99% of the stuff I found was shots looking downrange or across the shooting… area. You know, all the people doing the shooting. I searched for “firing range signage” and still got really sucky results, but eventually found one sign about “Always treat your gun as if it was loaded” yadda yadda.
Then I came to the thing I needed a reference for that I though would be super easy to find on the interwebs: “Woman smushing boobs together” It’s not that I needed reference for the boobs, it was the hand position I was having trouble with. I had surprisingly poor results, so I tried variants; “Woman squeezing boobs” “smushed boobs” “squeezing boobs” Really poor results. I think the problem is people don’t name photos “woman squeezing boobs” they name the picture “Angela_showing_off_the_girls.jpg” and google has no idea what’s in the picture other than Angela and girls.
So I turned to crowdsourcing my search on Twitter, figuring someone had a folder on their computer of this exact thing. I wound up getting a few people who thought I was asking for selfies, and I’m not going to say no to that (after making it clear I wasn’t looking for anything explicit) So thanks very much those who contributed. You can see the results on this page. I’m not sure why Harem is hefting herself other than that’s what I pictured her doing when I wrote her dialog.
It must be an oversight that I haven’t included The Hero Biz on my list of recommended webcomics. I think I’ve linked to it before, but it should live over there. It’s basically a superhero comic strip from Arianna’s point of view. The Director of PR character actually looks rather a lot like her. Anyway, they’re running a kickstarter, so check out the comic and then the kickstarter if’n you like what you see.
Here’s the link to the new comments highlighter for chrome, and the GitHub link which you can use to install on FireFox via Greasemonkey.
If he gets knocked to the ground in a fight…. would it be ” Black Hulk Down”?
No.
Yes.
Yessss.
Funny pun, albeit very politically incorrect.
*Yorp smash punny Guy*
Big Time.
Really? Nobody’s supporting “Reflex” yet?
Well allow me to be the first.
Also for a second there I was wondering if Ren was transmale. Maybe had to do with the odd phrasing (but clear intent) on the whole “stronger than them” part.
The problem I have with using “Reflex” as a code name is it doesn’t fit. A reflex is an ‘automatic instinctive unlearned reaction to a stimulus that happens without volition or conscious control.’ Think of the rubber hammer to the knee trick. What we see in the 6th panel is Ren watching and thinking about the cup falling in, to him, slow motion. His power doesn’t just give him fast reflexes, it speeds up his perceptions so he can actually THINK faster. This is much more useful than being able to react faster, thinking faster lets you plan your next move.
I think it still works. First, on the common misconception of what “reflex” means in relation to super speed. The vast majority will immediately associate that name with the guy that reacts super fast (from their perspective). Is it incorrect? Yes. But that doesn’t make it a good name for him.
Second… it might give bad guys who fail to do their homework the wrong expectation. Always an advantage when your enemy things he has you figured out and he doesn’t.
doesn’t make it a *bad* name. *grumbles something about an edit button*
Language does evolve, and you are right about wider usage of reflex, than just the ‘knee jerk’ reaction. For instance catching something by reflex, is very much in keeping with the concept. Which is how it would appear to observers, even if it is all slow motion from Ren’s point of view.
Well ı am not sure in which one but in one of those shows that they were uisng fast track cameras they were showing a juggler. And he said that he was keeping his eye at the top point where balls ot whatever he was thworing but not looking down even once his reflexes would handle the rst and only thing he should see whas here was the ball or item at top point and where was it dropping. So yeah observation and ability think (not to mention calculate) in that kind of situation actually hels with reflexes and Reflex would be a good name for him eventhough it s just a side effect of his power.
How about Lag since it seems like everyone is moving in slow motion to him?
… or “Jet Lag”, to be in line with the “Blulk” comments.
Reflex is a great name. Easy to remember and catchy (heh).
It may not be an accurate description of his powers, but it is a good description of how they might appear to everyone else, and that’s more important for PR than technical accuracy.
How ’bout “Freezeframe”, “Stopwatch”, or “TT” (tick-tock).
My first thought was “The Reflector”. It has reflex in it but doesn’t out-right say it.
Good for diverting opponents into thinking he had countering powers. But, given that ArcSWAT operate under a glare of publicity, such a tactic would soon be uncovered as misleading. Ren would have to spend a lot of interview time, for the rest of his career, in pointing out the link is meant to be to his reflex capabilities.
Time that Arianna would doubtless prefer spent on other things. Like promoting his new action figure!
You beat me to it – that was my primary idea. Others:
Stutter (he moves normally, then fast, then normally, then fast…)
Snapshot
Burst Shot
(both of the last are a bit off from the real power, but I like them)
Pr lady danger
During Spec Ops Hand-to-Hand training, we called the adrenaline rush “Going into overdrive”. At that point the training was stopped until everyone cooled down.
So, “Overdrive” might not be a bad name for this guy. Have Math train him extensively, and you have one nasty fighter.
OR, you could go politically correct and call him the “African-American Hulk”, or “AfAmulk”. Heh.
Overdrive is now my favourite, so far. Mainly because it also covers his hysterical strength, if he has that too. And the ‘over’ carries a feel for his height for that matter.
Ok. I agree. Overdrive is the best so far.
…I like it too.
But everyone’s gonna ask him where his motor/jet/skycycle is!
Hypah-Drive!!!
And with Yorp’s use of the word “hysterical”, to me he’s going to be the Wandering Womb from now on. Or maybe Womb Wanderer if he turns out to be a sidekick…
Mind you, as with most one word names, Marvel has already done it. Let us hope that Ren’s middle name is Maxwell. Then he could become Max Overdrive!
There was a fairly well-handled discussion on a recent “Too Much Information” page: not all black people are from Africa, not all African’s are black, and not all African’s in American are American, and some actually like the country they are from
Oh, I fully agree. Unless you actually have duel citizenship, there is no reason to claim such. You may read my PC suggestion with a heavy tone of sarcasm, and then you would get the “Heh.” at the end.
Yeah. Frankly the only way to fix race relations in America is to stop separating people by race but the politicians will never allow that. It makes too easy a handle to divide people by so we don’t notice how much they’re screwing over everybody.
“I’ve tried looking for Africa-america on my globe and I defintiley can’t find it on there!”
The ultimate screwdriver is the Colbalt double ratchet. Hold the blue collar and twist both directions and the bit keeps going clockwise or counter clockwise. My wife got me one for Christmas two years ago and I use it every day at work. Love it! (you know you wife loves you when you get tools for birthday, Christmas, and aniversery.)
How about Quick?
It’s short, easy to rattle off in the heat of the moment.
It can also be attributed to his wit.
Too simple/common a word. It would cause confusion when someone said for instance “I need help here quick!” Are they specifically asking for him or just fast help?
Buffering Man. :V
I’ve always wondered how speedsters could stand to talk to the rest of us snails…..Hell I’ve only got adhd and I think yall talk in slo-mo.
Slow, Southern drawl? X(
In order to show the hallway better in panel 6, I would have moved the picture down the hall so that you only see part of it.
Just an idea
Is it just me or does Harem’s face look odd in the fourth panel. Also I’m loving Ren, very entertaining.
She is pulling a face, so it is to be expected. That is her impersonation of a guy saying “Dat Ass”. Although her hands were still in position from her “cleavage” comment.
Accelerator
Redline
Speedbump
Ok, that’s all I got. For now.
Hm.
Redline is good.
I think every Englishman would approve of that one. And Ren is relatively thin (for a strong super).
the more I think about it, the more I like Redline. IMHO the best suggestion so far ( as of 5/26 9:51 pm pst).
Blulk smash!
I like him; he seems cool, and properly equipped (mentally!) to deal with the various ladies on the team.
I hope that the is, however, resigned to having “Black-” appended to whatever name he ends up with on a regular basis; it’s just a thing. But so far, digging Overdrive.
Of course, with his nickname, it is only a matter of time before Bishonen Boy starts being called “Stimpy…”
If he does not like combat, he could join Arc’s espionage section Arc-Dark. If he specialized in getting information from individuals through coercion, he could get the name ‘Black Male’.
If his faster brain means he is always sitting around waiting for other people to catch up, his name could be “black Bored”.
If he joins Arc security he could be “Blackguard”.
If he finds he has spell casting talent and joins Gwen in the Security division he could be “Black Magic”.
NEW GUY NAME SPECULATION THREAD
I’ll go with Bullet-time
Matrix time :P
Adrenal, Rush, Response, or ACE, (Adrenaline Cortex Extract is the proper term, which I found when googling Adrenal extract.)
These are all good names for his abilities and how they function.
Good to see Sydney already bonding.
Also, Overdrive, as has been said before, sounds good.
Overclock! it covers the altered perception timescale and the boosted strength of adrenaline
Seems to fit better than most of the suggestions.
I also like this one.
Downside is the number of syllables and it doesn’t quite roll of the tongue quickly. A slurred/quick take would “Verglock”.
I’d also take Blur or Burst, since he can also likely move very fast in short bursts. With “super” marksman training and one of Dabbler’s non-lethal weapons he’d be a crazy good counter to a speedster. Since most speedsters tend to over look “meat glaciers” as non-threats. It would be a surprise when one suddenly “bursts” into your speed range or faster without warning. Even worse if he can practice snapping back to his original position and “normal” speed, and making it look like he never moved.
Mhh… if the power was just about speedup the “obvious” name would of course be “Bullet Time”. But if he also gets stronger… mhh…
Well, bullets are kinda strong, too, so why not just “Bullet”? Or seeing how an adrenalin rush is a runaway thing just like V’s power, something like “Kickstart”, “Flywheel”, “Exotherm”? That’s not hitting the core of it, though. I think I like “Overdrive” the best yet.
But there would also be the option to just shorten “Adrenalin” to.. mhh… “Ren”? XD
Btw, I’m no artist, so I was ignorant enough to assume that one would just look up where light sources would be in a hallway, apply some 3D thinking, and devise the lighting of a scene from there. But now that I think about it, you probably must be a master artist to get to a satisfying solution this way. You learn new things every day. (And as a result, learn to appreciate others’ works even more)
Mmm, and “Shell Time” conjures up images of playing on the seashore, rather than a rapidly firing battleship.
But, running with your train of thought how about Railgun?
Naa, that might get mixed up with Dabbler’s toy.
Which only leaves: Bullet Train!
Misaka might not take kindly to stealing her nick…
(To Aru no Kagaku no Railgun)
*sigh*
Very well, if you insist.
Ok lets change that to “Zapper”!
I didn’t notice that before, but there’s a picture of one of the Harems in a pink hoodie in the top banner today. Most of these pictures are from the comic, but I don’t recognize this one. Did my memory fail me? Is it from a vote incentive I missed? Is it original? Argh. Now I have to re-read the comic. Again. But I just finished my fourth or fifth part-re-read. Damn you, Dave and your superpowers, damn you!
Believe that one was a pre-comic promotion, or something (the style is different as well)
https://davebarrack.deviantart.com/art/Harem-Banner-216436200
I’d suggest Break Point as a name but Dave used that one (and made fun of it, too, which was one of my favorite moments in this comic…)
Interrupt / Stopgap/ Ripstop/ Makeshift/ Improv / (Cleavage? nah.) / Luxate? since he’s pulling time out of joint? OK, now I’m really reaching.
Improv and Stopgap are interesting.
efficacy.
also, whats with the choker?
As Blondie and Ren have not chosen their names they get the blank chokers. Once they have picked them, then personalised versions can be promptly made up, as we saw with Halo.
damn, those are some sexy, sexy dice….>_> and LOL Harem…
Trite standup is pretty much every dialog that happens in this comic.
Gaaa! It is genetic, on the male side. I thought it was just me. I’m not so much into multi-tipped screwdrivers, because they are really only good for light weight work and tend to fail spectacularly if you try to use them for anything other than building computers or changing power socket or light switch faceplates, etc. But I do have a huge amount of portable tool chests. Hey, in my defense not a one of them is empty! One for plumbing (I find it difficult to resist buying another roll of teflon tape on occasion), one for electronics, 2-3 for woodworking, and a great many for sorting tools. You can’t expect me to carry all the tools I need for a job by hand, can you? And don’t get me started on drill bit sets. Hey, I broke 2 bits in my last kit, I obviously need a new 76 piece kit, right? Some of those kits also include a large number of driver bits, but I mostly use those in a multi-chuck for my power drivers, not hand-held multi-drivers. Let’s see, everyone can use another flashlight. I misplaced one, and then there is that nice, powerful spotlight that would be very handy for camping or trying to spot whatever made that sound in the backyard. They are also great for the occasional power outage or flipped breaker, or for illuminating the dark depths of the computer I’m building or working on. So, yeah, gotta have that, right?
Those dice do look awesome, but I manage to resist because I already have more than a person can reasonably use. No, really. I can easily throw 3 different color D20s plus color matched damage dice for each when my character gets 3 iterative attacks. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. When a dear Uncle recently passed away I even managed to turn down my Aunt’s offer to have his small collection of dice, complete with a large capacity dice bag!
Ditto on screwdrivers, though I decided on a shorter statement. One tool(chest), one job. ;)
I’ve actually reached a point of dice saturation for most games. I haven’t been short of any die type in years…
…and after a couple decades of gaming, I don’t think I have any matched sets anymore anyway.
I’ve been using the same Dottie Megapro since the mid-90s.
https://www.megapro.net/
It’s sturdy enough to use in place of a “real” screwdriver, and the replaceable tips are great. I’ve tried ratcheting screwdrivers, but I don’t like them. I’ll either use a fixed screwdriver, or an electric drill/driver.
I’ve also been accumulating dice since the mid-70s and have a huge wad. But there’s no such thing as too many dice. Lately I’ve been using the Crystal Caste Dwarven Metal dice
https://crystalcaste.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CC&Category_Code=DM
Stanley planes. And levels and rulers and squares. And old-style eggbeater drills…
I heard of a study where they found out that the part of the male brain that responds to porn is the same as responds to tools.
In my experience, multitip and ratcheting screwdrivers are a poor middle ground between the convenience (and ergonomics) of an electric driver, and the strength and variety of a simple screwdriver.
Maybe around the house but when your working on a coper with system and logic boards layered over drive units a gentle hand is needed. The frames are thin and made of cheap low grade steel and too much torque will strip it out. Also after pulling off all the covers all the boards and what not to get to what you want, your battery is dead. But I’m still twisting, twisting, twisting the night away.
Think about how difficult it is to capture a sense of motion, in a comic. Then appreciate just how much harder it is to convey slow motion. Even the matrix had to give slow-motion zip-lines to their bullets, to help convey the sense of seeing high-speed action, at leisure.
Kudos to DaveB, for capturing the concept, so well, in just the single panel.
I’m in the round of applause for Dave in a lot of scenes where the motion and pressure are nailed to a single image.
Couldn’t put it better myself Yorp~
Just remember Two (in my opinion) Prior Thoughts about adrenaline bursts: (I’ll not look the drawbacks. I suppose that he is immune somehow to them)
1st- Brain will be more affected than muscles. That’s why it’s difficult to catch a glass of water mid air even when you see it slowly. The progressive response acceleration from the brain to adrenaline is an upwards curve meanwhile the muscle one is a straiter line
2nd- Thought great velocity means a great punch, the bone has to stand the impact in order to deliver great damage. So he maybe will be better at holding than delivering actual damage in physical combat.
But, of course, you are free to ignore this. After all, it is your comic.
(P.S. Sorry for my bad English, I’m from Spain)
Don’t see anything wrong with your English
Good thinking and well conveyed. Don’t feel shy about your English.
I think it all boils down to what DaveB envisages Ren doing with his super strength. Currently Achilles works the other way around, for example. He gets his super strength, because he can ignore such problems. So Dave is aware of the issue.
From what we know so far, it sounds like Ren would make an interesting scrapper (to use City of Heroes terminology). Whilst a tank/brick is defence heavy, but offence light, a scrapper works the other way around. But they are distinct from blasters (or glass cannons) in that they do have defences, of one sort or another. So they can stand toe-to-toe with enemies, but have to be wary as their protection is limited.
In Ren’s case his super-reflexes will serve admirably in protecting him from most brawler types. But will be very vulnerable to any who’s reflexes match or exceed his own. Math has four star reflexes, so could probably counter him easily, for example. And he would stand no chance versus Maxima, as she has that and more.
But I could see him faring well against Anvil. She would not be able to lay a finger on him. So she could not use her nose boop. And, although his super-strength would be of no use, due to her defence, he could use his capabilities to entrap her.
Then it would be a matter of whether she was strong enough to break free. So if his strength is greater than her three star strength, he could just trap her with something too heavy for her to lift.
If that is the kind of thing Dave is envisaging, then Ren would simply have the required secondary powers necessary to allow that level of strength to work. The important thing is that he would have super-reflexes and super-strength as his usable powers. The fact that he also has some means to prevent his bones from snapping would be worth knowing, but would only occasionally have any other impact on the story.
Whereas, if his strength exceeds his ability to apply it, then he is a less able individual. But, it would allow Sydney some scope for suggesting ways where other team members (or equipment) could help overcome that severe handicap. So teamwork could allow him to fulfil his full potential.
In any case, if it was my story, his main melee weapon would be a katar with piston powered secondary blades. With precise strikes, a well made knife is more dangerous than a bullet. With the secondary mechanism, it would tear open any armor made from average metal or similar or less endurance.
(Katar: https://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/l5r/images/d/df/Katar_2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130512172656 )
Snip-snip!
another problem is the adrenaline dump that comes afterwards. in my experience as soon as you settle down all that pain and fatigue you avoided comes back with interest, and you barely have enough left to find somewhere safe to pass out.
Also to much time in adrenaline land is really bad on your heart, and the mom who lifts a car off her kids winds up with torn muscles, numerous stress fractures, and massive internal hemorrhaging.
Good points.
Yea, you do not want the runs!
Well, he’s trying to describe his powers quickly and simply so everybody can get that out of the way before the trainer comes in. Super adrenaline might just be the way to cover as many of the ways his power works as quickly as possible in a way Sydney might understand. It may not actually have anything to do with actual adrenaline or have a “required secondary” power or back up system that handles at least some of the fallout. Enough to keep him on his feet fighting anyway.
Is that an old preview for Jiggawatt?
I thought you changed her to blonde to avoid a C&D from Marvel.
It is from this page. The change in hair colour is on DaveB‘s “to do” list. He had always envisaged Jiggawatt as periodically changing her hair. But choosing white for her initial style did rather draw the mind towards Storm.
Not enough that Marvel would want to issue a C&D, nor would they have a realistic proposal of convincing a court that there was an infringement. The resemblance is superficial, and the more you examine the two characters, the more apparent that becomes.
But it was an unwelcomed distraction. Whereas Super Hiro was deliberately conceived as a ‘Super Man Liite’, there was no such intent for Jiggawatt. So the change was more for the benefit of us, the readers, and the character/story itself, than out of a fear of corporate action.
If you’re looking for reference photos for hallways or something, you should check out real-estate websites. A lot of them have virtual tours of houses that you can do.
OOOh that’s a good idea. Also there’s google streetview type things for insides of buildings (mostly google buildings right now).
HMMM so his power is Bullet time and tier one super strength …How about “Amp” as in to Amp up
That’s not too bad, and probably could work as a name without sounding too much like a misplaced tactical term.
Ok, two pictures of her and one line of dialogue and I am officially sold on the blonde. I hope we find out what she does next time.
It’s male
Don’t feel bad about it though, if you check out the comments on the previous page, you will see that just about everybody was taking him as being a girl. Looking at the author’s comment though, you can see that is just the result of the character’s art style.
Rather like Sydney is depicted in a different artistic style (anime) to the rest of the cast, so is Blondie. Mixing styles is one of the things I love about the comic. But, because it does challenge conventions, it can cause problems. Even though it also enables many extra options, such as using chibis.
If you saw him in a line-up of round eyed anime school girls, he would leap out as being a guy. But, surrounded by the more realistic faces, Dave uses for the rest of the team, he falls closer to a female look.
Feel bad, I will not, except about not reading Dave’s comments these last few pages. Thanks Yorp.
His power is ‘Gender Confusion’, as in, people get confused about what gender he is (kind alike on “Jonathan Creek” when the detective had a new assistant and Creek and his friend couldn’t work out their gender :D )
I Really like Ren, Dude’s got class! If I got a vote on what to name him though, I would chose “Tripswitch”
That’s clever, yeah.
how about Rush?
like adrenaline rush? nah no one would take it
How about Douchey … hehehehehehehehe no seriously I’d go for more along the lines “Adrenal”
I can’t think of much besides Hunk because he’s gorgeous.
Also I just learnt that the Maori word for Adrenaline is Hulu.
the more you know.
Hmm… Harem’s dialogue reads really strangely to me. I know after the fact that she was mostly enunciating the phrase “Dat ass” but while reading it I felt like she was screaming the whole thing, and was pissed. Probably because of the tail of the word bubble being jagged (if tail is the right word)
Just try to picture her with a toothbrush moustache. Starting her dialogue softly, but gradually rising in volume. And ending on a strident crescendo.
Special offer: 10% off all bottles of Brain Bleach™, for anybody who wants to obliterate the image of Adolph Hitler, jiggling his boobs and shouting “Dat Ass!”
Part of me wants the instructor to be Eldritch from Whateley Academy (or her pre-transformed version)
As of….
5:57/5:58 pm on Monday, May 25th, 2015…

*EDIT*
Really wish that function existed in and of itself, but w/e…
Make that “As of 6:04 pm”
If only he wasn’t so damn conservative looking, he could be called “Freakout.” Would be great if he had wild Doc Brown hair…
Thanks for the summary :)
My favourite, up to this point, remains “Overdrive”. Followed by “Amp”. Both of those work equally well whether applied to super reflexes or super strength. Plus each convey a feeling of Ren’s height, in their own way.
The other one that appeals, because of carrying on the wordplay from “I’m Sydney, people call me Sydney”, is “Ren short for Adrenaline”. With appropriate credit to TheCrimsonF*cker, for having the earliest time-stamp on that one.
I like that one too, my second vote would be “Renaline” for the pun on his name.
A lot of really good suggestions here. I like Renaline for the same reason you do, Yorp, I think “Redline” is also an awesome choice. Overdrive, Overclock, and Amp are all pretty good, except these kinds of adrenal rushes are reactive, and all three of those names imply that he has some control over when it happens. I Initially chose “Tripswitch” to reflect that, but I think I like Redline better.
I had an idea for the name being something like “Adrenal” since he basically just has his body’s Adrenal Gland going at high-speed and it COULD allow him access to quasi-Super Strength as a by-product since the thing that is SUPER POWERFUL does govern all that.
I am adding Adrenal, Rush, Response, and or ACE, (Adrenaline Cortex Extract is the proper term, which I found when googling Adrenal extract.)
These are all good names for his abilities and how they function.
Spring.
Clever. Especially as his powers would likely allow him to do decent super-jumping too.
You are right. I was thinking in sudden energy liberation, quick move, reactive behavior, stronger under pressure, but yes, that’s a practical application :)
Hypah-Drive!!! *use southern accent.
Full Stop
.
Nanashi has dialogue, but no who’s who panel on the side. *Le sigh~* :)
Interesting power set, if a bit confusing. :D
Blondie has not been introduced. There are formalities which must be observed, if we are to avoid slipping into barbarism, after all!
They have to both speak and be named
Required secondary powers: healing factor and/or super toughness to keep from shredding his muscles and breaking his own bones.
Yup. Or something with similar results. Preferably without much excess capability above that though, to prevent him from turning into a high-speed Wolverine.
Although Sydney might approve?
Mmm, substituting stand-up comic, for bad boy attitude though… maybe not. She does not seem to be too in favour of that, in panel 3. He would have the wrong attitude, ‘bad powers’, no claws and quite clearly no sideburns!
Even other women don’t understand how other women think :P
You know he could just have a low-level adrenal-induced time dilation ability. Then he wouldn’t need any secondary powers as he just moves at normal speed and everyone around him moves slowly.
