Grrl Power #261 – Pylondriver
Hopefully you guys aren’t getting bored with Maxima whipping this guy like he’s heavy cream. As usual, this is just how the fight went down in my head, but it’s also part of the reason I’ve been doing so many double pages lately. Not that this page really counts as a double, I just wanted to draw that big ass panel of Max using that overpass column like a pestle on Vehemence. Still, gotta keep the story moving. It makes for a lot of nights drawing into the wee hours, but it’s worth it. It does mean I didn’t get a chance to do a mini comic below this page, something to the tune of Sydney staring wide eyed at the carnage and leaning over to Harem, telling her to remind her never to get into a fight with Maxima or something of that nature.
You can tell by now that one of Maxima’s official unofficial powers is dramatic face shadowing, which is harder for her to pull off than for instance Alucard, since his face isn’t metallic and reflective. Luckily unofficial powers are much cheaper. Of course when the RPG system she’s built in allows for it, I like to give Maxima some sort of presence or intimidation attack, similar to a dragon’s fear aura, but really just based on her reputation for being a real bonebreaker in a fight.
Here’s the link to the new comments highlighter for chrome which I can’t live without anymore, and the GitHub link which you can use to install on FireFox via Greasemonkey.
Looks like the grin is on the other mouth now.
And this one still has all teeth
The teeth on the 4th panel make her look possessed.
I think she’s breaking more than just bones in that fight.
I take it you mean more than just the laws of physics, right?
She is also breaking the pylon. Not sure what it does to Vehemence though.
You must construct additional pylons.
You have not enough minerals.
Wouldn’t that be just pylon it on?
We require more vespene gas.
SPAWN MORE OVERLORDS.
….
Owwwwww. D:
That’s going to hurt in the morning.
If he’s lucky.
If Max is lucky, you mean .
I’m thinking “I can’t feel my legs” level of unluck.
I believe max will be surprised by V next update or so.
yea, if he tried to take on the team solo and he’s not the juggernaut, he’s an idiot. and I don’t think he’s an idiot.
Thing is, we’ve been saying that for the past comics already.
So either DaveB is building for a massive reversal, or it really is just a curb stomp
An awesome curb stomp though
I think this is just a curve stomp because of Dave B’s way of not having predictabl plot. Everyone thinks vehemence is going to have a massive comeback, but realistically he actually drastically underestimated maxima. By taking her warnings as weakness he has entered the point of no return(ing in one piece).
Cool if that’s true then this needs to get wrapped up before it gets old. Then we can get on to the really good stuff like Sydney and the other recruits training (sooo looking forward to that! *rubs hands* )
Plotwise, I think Dave just needed Vehemence to really show what Max can do. The press demonstration was just to establish ARCSwat as definitely possessing super-human power. The villain mob attacking was to establish what the *team* is capable of doing. Vehemence established his credentials as a major threat by solo-wiping up most of the team, but still not really in the same class as Maxima.
As early (in the timeline, if not page count) as this plot shows, the ARCSwat team had to display their capabilities first, before Dave moves on the the *real* threats he’s got cooked up; V was really only a threat on the scale of destroying 2 or 3 city blocks…You can bet that the stakes for Archon will escalate into city-wide, nation-wide & probably world-wide later on. Depending on how long Dave continues to do this comic, maybe he’ll even up the scale to stellar-level or greater.
Despite the relatively high page-count so far, Grrl Power is really just getting *started* & Dave needs to build up the construction of his universe in stages; so far, only the basic *foundations* have been set (despite Maxima knocking down some of the city’s foundations :P ). Overall, this is just good writing technique.
I can’t wait to see ARC handling their first natural disaster. I wonder if it’ll be a hurricane, earthquake, volcano or wildfire?
Steller level? This looks like (in Champions terms) a mid power super hero campaign. That’s not going to happen unless Dave B keep this comic going forever and by that point I would have a husband and kids (im 16).
Wildfire, after Sydney burps after having one of her ‘snacks’ in a forest
That’s because they’re across the road.
Some morning, definitely, just not tomorrow morning; he will still be unconscious in the high-security infirmary tomorrow morning. Maybe a day or two after that he will start feeling it.
Or dead. I mean, maybe she just crushed him.
And there is another of her helpful reminders to Sydney she has gone and forgotten.
Also, is it just me, or does Max have way too many teeth?
V isn’t the only one out there who can do a scarey psycho grin. And at this point she definitely has more teeth than V to display.
If V were to grin, he’d have…. what?? maybe 3 teeth left??
The last punch was in the gut. However we won’t know what the pillar hit until the Chinese archeologists finish excavating the abruptly emerging ruins in the Gobi.
It’s hard to count teeth at that resolution and contrast, but she’s showing about 25 teeth.
Well she specifically said a car was too flimsy to be an improvised weapon. A pillar of steel reinforced concrete however should be painful. Though it might cost more. . . I don’t know enough about road work to put a dollar value on one.
(And google can’t help my lack of knowledge here. sniff.)
As the pillar is already damaged her using it does not increase the damage. And the rubble is easier to clean up.
Ah, but she is delivering the same amount of force over a much larger surface area. Less damage.
Also, from what I have seen so far of her, I think she bends less than that concrete. Now the concrete might do more damage if she swung it at him (the end would be moving significantly faster than her arm), but it appears she is just using it as a pile driver so there isn’t much of an increase there.
Oh, and that pillar cost more than a car (barring million dollar supercars of course).
You sort of feel sorry for Vehemence, but he did ask for a fight…
Beware of having your wishes fulfilled by a golden djinn.
He’ll dream of Djinni with the purple hair / Borne like a vapor in the summer air…
It scans and everything.
+1
You sir, win an internet!
No matter what anyone says about Vehemence, he brought this all on himself. From his earliest appearance in the comic (“Challenge accepted.”) to the royal rumble of this night, he pretty much begged to get Maxima’s attention.
Now that he’s gotten her attention, he doesn’t know what to do with it…
You know, it’s your own fault I keep hitting you. I mean, you keep blinking and looking at me.
The darksouls logic?
One from column A…..
I think she went for all of column B.
^ Win comment.
And Vehemence only appears under “the bottom line” right now…
hmm…Vehemence’s tattoos are glowing…
Mushroom power up incoming maybe? o.o
Nah. Just the power of bioluminescence. https://www.twogag.com/archives/3331
Weird, thst’s the third time someone has linked that to me within one week.
Were his tattoos glowing before?
He certainly has a bright future.
As much as I like a little fighting between them, I kinda want some story.
Hopefully this fight ends soon and we get more interesting story times.
agreed!
fighting was nice, but I’ve had enough of it for now, story progression would be good, maybe even a training montage for Halo to get past that all? or just skip it and do flashbacks later…
the comic started in the future so maybe we’ll switch back to that at some point.
whatever happens though I’m sure it’ll be fun or funny.
I’d love to get into Halo’s training soon… o.o
That should be interesting, since we can’t much of her in these fights.
see much of her* >_<
I’ll be happy with flashback day 2.
I admit I am waiting to see Sydney at the comic shop with Joel on day 2, but I will wait and love every panel Dave puts out in the mean time. :-)
Damn, thats right, it’s still the same day as the bank robbery…….
Interesting: when we had story, people were demanding (yes, demanding, some even went as far as threatening to stop reading) ACTION, NAO!!!
And withing 3 pages of the action starting (first lug-nut crashing through the roof) people were calling for an end to the action and wanting to get back to the story
DaveB, there is a story by Aesop you may be interested in reading, about a grandfather, his grandson and their donkey
I have never pushed Dave to go any way other than the way he wants to tell his story. :-P I have said it before, I will read this comic til my dying day.
Same here
I especially like that we can’t see how badly V has been mauled – nice touch.
No witty comments is a hint.
It is a bad sign .
It means that if he is still viable , Max may just get a few bruises .
Because it is now time for V to get serious about this fight .
I really hope he catches that column. I agree that it’s usually a bad sign when the villain is obscurred and you can’t really get a good read on the damage they’ve taken…even when V was taking her hits he was still reacting fairly well just not capable of her speed or, if he is capable, wasn’t in a good position to do anything about it (such as reangle his upper block to deflect some of the punch to his abdomen).
Coincidentally, when she went for that punch and altered where she was gonna hit, she likely retuned her powers into speed then swapped into power at the last second (some into defensive armor just in case). Which also may be why he’s just not able to keep up with her at the moment. That said, she’s NOT slamming that column down quickly; I’d expect she’s just full-on power mode right there and he actually has an opportunity to respond to her. We also have no real gauge of his resilience/armor; losing teeth is horrible but it’s not like they’re well-rooted against Maxima-strength hits and they’re not an accurate measure of how poorly or how well he’s mitigating or absorbing her output.
A usual response to the big hit with no visible recipient is the “Where did he go?” once they clean up the big mess. This sort of maneuver gives the recipient the opportunity to speed dodge and run for it in the resulting dust cloud, or to dig a hole and disappear int he sewer system, as recently used in “Agents of Shield”.
Well, this IS addressing a common trope in comics where, unless it actually happens in-panel, we can assume the villain found a way to survive/escape. Vehemence may get away, but it won’t be “clean”…Maxima messed him up pretty good.
Past time actually, she paused. If there is ever a point when your opponent can turn a fight around, it’s when you pause. Since he didn’t, I’m betting the Curbstomp continues.
Vehemence has yet to actually claim a power. His whole stick was to observe. Then double cross then triple cross. For why though???
I had the impression He’s angling for something…seems a wasted fight if he didn’t up the ante.
Actually, I’d call it more of a “pylon stomp” than a “curb stomp,” because Dave’s already shown us that the curbs weren’t up to taking this kind of punishment without crumbling.
That just can’t be good for you. Hopefully he’s got the good sense to stay down now… it’s starting to feel like time for the fighting to finish!
DaveB, you said it’s worth it. Ok, but if you feel that you don’t find the time to do what you want with it, you could always announce a slower update schedule for some time and drop the Thursday updates while presenting double pages on monday.
It was said before: It is always worth the wait.
Dat slasher smile O_O
As someone who uses a mortar & pestle at work I can confidently say that Maxima is doing that inefficiently. You get the best results not from repeatedly smashing the pestle into the mortar but by rotating the pestle while applying pressure against the mortar. So if Maxima really wants to turn Vehemence into a pavement smear she should rotate that overpass support while pushing Vehemence against the ground for the best results.
But you see, that is the point. She wants enough of Vehemence to be left to stand trial. Sure, he has attacked federal law-enforcement officers with very lethal force, well, to most people, but that does not automatically give Maxima the right to kill him, just the responsibility to subdue him until he is no longer a threat. If there is no other choice to control him, she can use lethal force herself while he is still a threat, but Max has lots more options than most police officers. Many of them are standing over by the former restaurant doing an inventory on everybody else they subdued this evening.
Presumably, she ALSO wants enough of Vehemence to be left that can be identified in a line-up, or even from fingerprints.
(From the movie ‘Sudden Impact’)
(Horace to Harry Callahan after shooting a target with a 12 gauge shotgun): “You have to strain the remains for the fingerprints.”
( Harry after showing Horace his .44 Automag): “Well this is the .44 Magnum Automag, and holds a 300 grain cartridge. Properly used it can remove the fingerprints.”
If they try to ID Vehemence from dental records, some adjustments will need to be made with the process…
For IDing from dental records, all that is needed is someone who is good with jigsaw puzzles.
Ah, but you have to tap with the pestle to crack those round objects in the mortar so they can’t roll away from your grinding action.
Maxi be rollin’, rollin’ :P
She’s being silly. Why hit her opponent with something less durable than herself? It’s like boxers going at it with foam swords instead of using their fists.
Actually it’s kind alike going into a boxing fight with a bag of feathers…
Weighing 100KGs :D
In this case Max may be trying to end the fight with a love tap to ensure V’s survival. If he gets up she’s gonna hit him with a plasma blast next.
Also extra dramatic visual for the cameras. Max may not do interviews, but she knows how to use visual aids to make a point, or a dent in this case.
Or perhaps boxers going at it with boxing gloves? I mean those things are even *padded*
It does, however, lessen the opportunity for him to hit back though, just in case an opponent decides to play possum.
Or to let him get a grip on her arm or something. I mean, they don’t actually know whether he has any additional “absorber”-type gimmicks that come as part of his powerset (like Hiro has with sonic attacks). Not letting someone with very obviously physically-themed powers even *touch* you directly is probably sound advice in general.
oh that freaky grin would make most people pee themselves i am sure of that
I foresee the fecal matter impacting the rotary impeller very soon .
And it will be aimed at Maxima .
Actually Mythbusters did an episode on this and pretty much all it did was stop or slow down the rotary impeller rather than spray out like a muck spreader. So should any faecal matter be expelled then it is likely to just splatter.
I mean Max has had vomit on her boots so far in the last day, all she needs now is a super hurling poop like an aggressive monkey to finish her day off.
Maybe they didn’t use a powerful enough fan. Then again, it probably wouldn’t hit it in the first place in that case.
Or they simply used the wrong kind of rotating disc device
For the “Replicate the Results” portion of the “experiment”, they used great big special effects fan used to simulate wind storms for movies and such. It flung stuff, bug not in exactly the way they were expecting; Jamie was not wearing protective gear way outside the “danger” zone, but still got some of the simulated excrement on his white shirt.
At which point I’m guessing he was extremely glad that it was only simulated.
Damn! man..
new plan piddle self run
You got +1 internet for DMFA reference :)
you get a cookie :D
Oh man, he’s gonna be sore.
As active as Max has been, with a broken nose and all, I’d rather have expected more blue blood to be splattered about a bit, especially visible on forearms & chin (sadly, I speak from experience). As if she needs it with that grin going for her, but could have been used for even more maniacal effect
Is it STILL better? Is it?!
It’s better than better, he just showed her true self to the whole world: she is a powered thug, with a badge, nothing more
I have seen the thugs with badges, she isn’t there. If he surrenders or she finally gets him in restraints that hold him, then there would be a problem, but she hasn’t.
Ow.
Honestly, I want Vehemence to demonstrate that his bragging wasn’t bravado, and that column to come right back in Maxima’s face.
I suspect that’s not going to happen, but I really wanted Max to work for her living, and getting a broken nose VS beating the living hell out of your opponent isn’t really working.
But I suppose since this is their first major outing they should have a fairly conclusive victory. I can hope for a rematch sometime where Vehemence has prepped more carefully.
Noting that it aint over until it’s over.
Indeed. and it’d be kinda cool for the pylon to suddenly rip out of the ground and do an anvil on Max. I expect — and want — Max and ARCSwat to win, but I wanna see her put some EFFORT into it.
Indeed, this is like superman level cheesiness of Max out classing everything she runs across. Yes the art work is wonderful, but this is losing my interest. I’m feeling The old DBZ namek arc fatigue.
Bah, you are WEAK! The Freezer arc took two YEARS! :)This has hardly been started! Besides, we haven’t had Maxima “powering up” for three full strips.
Though Vehemence’s tattoos were rather obviously glowing, so perhaps HE’S about to do the “Now let me assume my ULTIMATE Form” schtick.
And yeah, Alucard has an advantage, being basically an unstoppable demon-vampire SOMETHING with powers that are basically “as the plot demands”. He can MAKE frickin’ shadows when he wants them. Sorta like Pride from FMA:B. (Though Alucard would eat Pride for breakfast and still be hungry).
I’m a pendant. Where’d Max’s heater go?
As a pedant you should check your spelling. :P
As a pendant, Defnestor is just getting into the swing of things.
Nah he’s just hanging around.
But things chain-ge.
Doesn’t it seem a bit pedantic to run this pun into the ground so far?
Pun-dantic? =OP
I’m really liking the bright white impact special effect! :)
It’s not a special effect, Max hit so hard that some of V’s atoms fused with the concrete, releasing energy in the form of heat and light.
Or it could be a more extreme case of what you’d be seeing after getting hit…Normal-human scale hits would make you see stars, but Vehemence is probably seeing supernovas.
Actually, that stuff coming up is the dirt and sand around vehemence. Max is hitting the ground so hard that she’s making a meteorite crater.
Dave’s commentary about fear powers reminded me of this from the Divine Blood RPG. The part I’m thinking of are the last two modifiers at the bottom…hmm for the hell of it I’ll track down Scary and Promise of Pain too
Terrify
Sample Aspects: Terrifying Mein, Fear Inducing Pheromones,
Interrogation Techniques
Base AP Cost: 2
Activation: Sensitive Difficulty 4
Activation Time: Simple Action, activates as an attack
Power Type: Talent, Shaping, Magic, Training, Telepathy
Attack – You have the ability to instill a sense of terror in
your foes. Upon activating your power, roll your Sensitive as
an attack against your target. The target may resist with
Willpower. If you succeed in forcing your target to take a
Mental Consequence, the Consequence they take must somehow
relate to their fear of you.
In addition, you may use this Power to perform a Maneuver.
You may roll your Sensitive contested against your victim’s
Willpower. If you succeed, your target gains the Anxious
Aspect for a number of rounds equal to the difference between
your Sensitive roll and your victim’s Willpower roll.
You do not need to roll to activate this Power when using it
this way and if you generate Spin on the roll to perform the
Maneuver; the Anxious Aspect lasts the duration of the scene.
This power can trigger a mindscape at the GM’s discretion.
Scary and Promise of Pain normally work with natural
intimidation and cannot be used with this Power Advantage.
Modifiers
+1 (Horrific): Gain a +1 bonus on all rolls to use this Power.
This may be taken twice by characters of Ring 8 and three
times by characters of Ring 4.
+1 (Aura of Terror): You may attack every person in the zone
you occupy or an adjacent zone.
+1 (Supernatural Terror): Your opponent defends with
Sensitive instead of Willpower.
+1 (Piercing Terror): Your opponent defends with the weaker
of Sensitive and Willpower. You must have Supernatural
Terror to take this.
+1 (Fear of the Unknown): The target need not see you. You
need only be able to see the target yourself. In this case, Consequences the target takes should relate to a more general
sense of fear instead of fearing you specifically. However, if
the defending opponent generates Spin on his Willpower
defense roll, he senses that his emotions are being artificially
manipulated and may even sense the general direction you
are in.
+1 (Terrifying): You deal +2 Stress on successful attacks with
this power. This may be taken twice by characters of Ring 8
and three times by characters of Ring 4.
+1 (They’ve Seen Worse): You can use your terror to Block
outside intimidation attempts against your allies, either
natural or supernatural. You’re scarier, and you’re on their
side so what do they have to fear?
+0 (Biochemical Terror): You produce a pheromone or
chemical in your body that induces the terror. The activation
and attack rolls are made using your Metabolic rating.
+0 (Electrochemical Imbalance): You somehow use control
of the surrounding energy to induce the fear, perhaps bio- or
electrokinesis, or else you give a terrifying display of your
power. Use the Manipulative Ability to activate and attack
with this power.
+2 (Pure Skill): Your intimidating manner is from pure
understanding of how to threaten other people. Instead of
making an activation roll, spend a Fate Point to activate this
power and then roll an attack based on your Persuasion versus
their Willpower. This Power is unaffected by Binding or
other powers targeted at Psychic Abilities. The stress dealt is
not affected by the Mental Armor version of Armor, but is
affected by the Determination Boost modifier of Armor.
Scary and Promise of Pain stack with this version of the
Power.
You cannot take the Fear of the Unknown, Supernatural
Terror, Piercing Terror, Biochemical Terror, or Electrochemical
Imbalance modifiers.
+1 (Invocation of Dread): If someone brings up your name
in the context of you being angry or upset, you may spend a
Fate Point to use this Power against them as if you were in the
scene. If you also have Aura of Terror you may affect everyone
in the scene. You must have the Pure Skill modifier to
take this modifier.
*************
Scary – You gain a +2 bonus to Persuasion rolls to frighten
others.
*************
Oh, hmm, Promise of Pain is in Strands of Fate, not Divine Blood RPG, oh well
Promise of Pain
You have a very intimidating demeanor and know exactly how to play on the fears of another to get what you want. You may spend a Fate Point to add a +3 bonus on your next Persuasion roll made to intimidate.
I’m imagining Maxima as having the following:
Persuasion 2
Scary
Promise of Pain
Terrify: Pure Skill, Aura of Terror, Terrifying x2, Horrific x2, Invocation of Dread
Then, she could be half-way across the city and someone could mention her being angry…she could spend 3 Fate Points and run a +9 Fear Attack dealing an extra +4 Stress, on top of everything else, on everyone within the zone where her name was mentioned.
Assuming average Willpower stats of 3 (likely to be more 2s) That would, on average be 10 Stress dealt, which would be enough for the sort of Severe Consequence that you need to spend a month talking to a psychiatrist about to make the nightmares go away.
If she just spent the basic 2 Fate Points to trigger the Power and using it from across the city in a scene she’s unaware of, that would still be 7 Stress, which would likely be a Moderate Consequence requiring a full day’s of reassurances and recovery before the chill goes away.
Alas, some people react differently than this standard assumption of cowering & running to fear, terror, etc. Instead of cowering or running away, they attack. In fact, they’ll attack until the thing they fear is no longer threatening/terrifying them. Some will even keep attacking with everything they have, until the thing they fear is just a smear on the floor. Some of those need to be physically hauled off of their opponent, too, before they’ll stop. I’ve seen it, and it’s not pretty…but then RPGs don’t take into account actual happenings in reality in all the aspects.
Mmmh, yes, “cornered rat syndrome”. Nasty.
Fate can take that into account…you could give them the consequence of “Fear-Filled Rage” It depends on the choices at the table…consequences are decided to match the circumstances, not set in stone.
Did someone page Harry Dresden?
‘Tis but a scratch!
Only Dabbler’s sword made any scratches. The rest of it would be called contusions.
Arthur: Now stand aside, worthy adversary.
Black Knight: ‘Tis but a scratch.
Arthur: A SCRATCH? Your arm’s off!
Black Knight: No it isn’t!
Arthur: Well what’s that then?
Black Knight: I’ve had worse.
Arthur: You LIAR!
Black Knight: Come on, you pansy!
So, I figure that the only real knock out punch worth the time is the double-team where two bricks hit simultaneously from opposite sides, preventing knockback (and resulting get-away opportunities) and multiplying the damage. With a real brick, anything short of adamantium is going to feel like a soft pillow-top mattress when you punch them through it.
Had a fast brick with 45 strength and double knockback who tended to aim her hits either into other enemies or straight down into the ground…though she accidentally killed two enemies that way.
was 45 strength because my brother, the GM set that as the upper limit. He enforced “best of X” titles and there was already a strongest person from an earlier campaign in the same game world.
In our games we called that the “Nutcracker Suite” — two heavies, one target, opposite directions. Very UnFun for target unless target was VERY tough, in which case it could be UnFun for heavies (most notable example: two powerful bad-guy Saints trying it on Windlash; Windlash’s primary power was absolutely LUDICROUS invulnerability, and the Saints in question ended up seriously decking themselves.).
Or worse, the target manages to dodge the blow (by say flight, or sinking into the ground) and the two heavies hit each other! OUCH!
Note to self: Do NOT disturb Maxima’s meal time.
Note to note to self: do not disturb Maxima.
Note to self make sure Maxima doesn’t know i exist..
Not to both: Who? ;)
Unless I’ve mistaken all the Hero system references, I’ve used a few things (presence, OCV drain, etc) limited by “requires skill roll” with GM allowance for it to be a reputation roll.
Not points effective, but it does the whole “He’s Batman – if I hit him, he’ll get really mad.” thing well.
Yeah, the thing I did up there for Divine Blood RPG ain’t all that points effective either (well, actually, as severe as it is, it can be). That would be a total of 10 Advantage Points for that fear effect alone….huh…given her other powers…she’d likely be in the lower rings after all…could have spent another two points and gotten Horrific and Terrifying up to 3 each.
Not bored here, enjoying watching Mr. Confident get the crap kicked outta him.
It is a cool fighht but this whole battle of the meta-humans has been going on for a long time. We are still on DAY ONE of Sydney’s inclusion in the team. The pacing is way off.
Grrl Power (& any other internet-based comic) isn’t limited to the same kind of pacing as printed comics are. In print, most comics on a monthly printing schedule have to pace out their plotlines over a single issue or few at a time. On the internet, Dave puts out 2 pages per week but this initial stage of *establishing* his story would be about the equal of a “limited series” so far…Which a printed monthly comic would take about a year (or more) to publish the same amount of material.
Initially establishing characters & world-settings for the first time is usually the longest-running part of most stories…Even stories that run in an “episodic” format take time to get the readers interested in reading future episodes.
For some kind of an example, there was the Marvel Superhero Secret Wars mini-series which took twelve issues (a full year of monthly comics) just to describe what happened to heroes & villains that were considered “missing” from their regular titles for only a couple of weeks or so.
I’m not against pacing, but as long as the quality of the comic is good, I’m not going to get hung up over it either.
At least it isn’t in the ballroom/ARC building anymore
Take all bets!
How many teeth does Vehemence have left?
A snifter of haiku:
My own learning curve
A tall order breaking wind
Laughing at beetles
‼☺═☺═☺‼
All this talk of RPGs, etc.. Mm’just an old fart n’only understand the fun of crash, boom, smash!! My newest comic is probably my “Son of Satan” vol 1 issue 1.
I know whatcha mean. The last table top RPG I played was D&D, when there were only two monster manuals. I once had a copy of the original rules book, it only had two color illustrations and was 13 pages long…
Not wanting to put a damper on things, I know Max might be enjoying having a decent fight for once and all that, and getting carried away is one thing, killing someone is not a good idea if your meant to be a hero.
Not exactly what V had hoped when he said to the other guys pre fight that Maxima would be pounding on his column all night long
Knowing that Dave is a fan of Kentucky Fried Movie (from the Patreon quote if nothing else) this is starting to look like the fight from the “Fistful of Yen” part where the fake Bruce Lee guy keeps beating down the big guy in more and more extreme ways because he keeps getting back up. I guess an overpass support pylon is Maxima’s equivalent to a car transmission.
Alternatively, you can say it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. :)
Vehemence IS a pretty nice guy, as “Villains who attack you for no apparent reason” go. He’s been mostly polite, well-spoken, cheerful, and reasonably sporting; in fact, his loudest protests have been at Maxima’s “bad form”. Max has spent far too much time around pragmatic military types and has no idea t all as to how these fights should be conducted.
Looks like I may luck out…if this is ended by the next page I win the bet with my bookie. *crosses fingers*
Well, win, lose, or draw, I suppose it’ll make you a bettor man.
Why do I have the feeling he has a surprise for everyone
I’m thinking along the same lines, but I’m hoping I’m wrong. This fight is already months long.
