Grrl Power #232 – Test your equipment before fielding it
Yeah, Heatwave’s probably going to lose that toe, and she’s definitely out of the fight, so -1 to Arc-SWAT. Heatwave isn’t one of the big guns but super powered battles can shift quickly. I guess they’re kind of like Magic the Gathering in that regard. Someone can be all “Ooh gravity powers, no more flying or projectile attacks, combine that with “Make it Rain Man” to wet the ground and “Lightning Dancer” and all your grounded teammates are shockstunned. Booya.” And then the other guy is all “Oh, thanks for supercharging my Man of Iron card, +10 Repulsive blast!” Someone ought to make a game like Magic but with superheroes. As as I type that I realize that given the popularity of Magic back in the day (is it still mega popular?) there’s almost no chance that there isn’t a superhero CCG. Probably several actually.
So, Glowbug wasn’t quite taken down by Heatwave on page 219. If you recall, Glowbug is a cameo for one of the Patreon big ballaz, Shana Hills, though honestly it’s questionable how good a likeness it is. Amusingly I had this page almost totally penciled before I thought “Hey I should email Shana and make sure she’s ok with kind of her face in a one woman wet t-shirt contest.” Luckily no worries mate. Did I mention she’s Australian? She tells me that really only the older generation that says Streuth! but hey I’m an American which means that 90% of what I know about Australia is the word streuth, barbie, dungarees, funky mammals, opera house, sheilas, shitloads of poisonous stuff and “that’s not a knife…” Oh, also, when I was in high school, someone told me there’s way more women than men in Australia for some reason so when soldiers get leave they always go there and they get mobbed by horny sheilas. Apparently that’s the sort of stories high schoolers come up with when they hear there are 100,000 more women in Australia than men, ignoring the fact that the country (currently) has a population of 22.7 million people, making for a 0.4% disparity.
Writing for comics can be weird. The last panel originally had Glowbug saying “of course” but with a long “of.” It’s one of those situations where there’s no great way to write it. If I write”offfffff” it looks like off, and if I write “oooooof” it looks like oof. Uuuuuv was the best way to make it read phonetically, but then suddenly switching to a phonetic spelling would throw some people. After I drew the panel I decided it was fine to leave out the text, so it worked out, but things like putting emphasis on words, and trying to write subtle accents can be really tricky.
Last week I had some bad link or something winding up a few people’s anti-virus software but I think it’s taken care of. If you get anything popping up, clear your cache and see if it still happens. If so let me know at grrlpowercomic[at]gmail.
Have a nasty feeling that Yorps’ mistress is about to be taken out by her own weapon :(
?
Panel 5 shows someone who might be the kind woman who takes me walkies. Seen earlier, dodging Nose Boop (at the bottom of that page).
Sorry Yorp, not her. Skin and Eye color are different as is the hair. The Kind lady has blue eyes, paler skin and a flatter (I think that’s the word) tone of hair. The unnamed supervillian has yellow/golden eyes, more of a tan and a brighter shade of blond hair.
If I had a larger picture of the supervillian I might be able to point out more differences. Muscle mass, height ete.
Sorry for any misspellings, commenting is not my thing.

Also the one in question in this page in neither of them. This one has Brown hair.

True but also the unnamed supervillian is in a sleeveless tank top while this one is in a T-shirt.

Aha, another Easter Egg? DaveB is making a few other changes, we might find her being corrected to blonde shortly.
There is a superhero card game, it’s not a collectible as far as I know. The players are working cooperatively to try to take out a supervillain…the competition seems to be in who can take him out.
Sentinels of the Multiverse. My roommate and I play it a lot. It’s pretty awesome. :D
my friends and brother got into just before I moved to Japan….never got to play….pout
I noticed a few in the background, like red cape and hood and guy in purple suit by tree standing by.
“Is Magic still popular?”
Oh I don’t know I think the prize pool at the last Pro Tour was only 40k Dollars to 1st place…… can’t imagine it can be popular with prizes like to fro a…. card…. game…..
Sarcasm aside, Magic has not lost popularity, it has gained.
I had to ask because it’s been a while since I’ve heard of anything Magic related. When I was in high school, Magic was like Minecraft is today. At least minecraft is in middle schools today, which is to say it’s ubiquitous in certain cliques.
yeah it’s been growing in lasting popularity since the 2000’s there’s even a big budget blockbuster in the works
Dragons right they are making a MTG MOVIE
Interesting thing is that a friend of mine in Los Angeles Metro has a job teaching kids Minecraft, aimed I believe at the Ten and Under crowd.
The world is always amazing, isn’t it?
The only trouble is that not even the first place prize money will recoup all of the outlay, on collecting a comprehensive set of all the cards!
pro tours are draft or constructed so that’s pretty much a non issue.
They have poker tournaments with millions of dollars in prizes.
Magic The Gathering is much less popular now than it once was. There was a time when people camped out in front of gaming stores so they could be first to buy cards from the newest expansion. There was a time when no gaming store could survive without stocking cards from every available expansion. Now, a gaming store might or might not stock Magic at all.
The fact that a movie is in the works really doesn’t mean much. Hollywood is frequently 10 years behind when it comes to what is popular.
That will not do. We wants Grrl Power the Movie, now!
According to Hasbro’s figures, MtG revenue has grown by 182% over the past 5 years. Mark Rosewater claims the game is doing better than it ever has before, and the only game shop I know anything about the workings of says that Magic is their biggest revenue stream.
Sure, people don’t camp out in front of stores anymore. They print more cards now, and if their pre-releases are overfull they’ll print more.
And yes, game shops don’t stock every expansion. Probably because there are so many expansions now.
So I really don’t buy that the game has shrunk.
I think having no text on the last panel is great.
I can see how it’s tempting to add text to every panel. but the thing with comics is there is a LOT you can express just with the art and that expression says everything that needs to be said.
Keep it up!
+1
Glowplug is literally steaming. Truly funny.
ummm, she’s called Glowbug, not Glowplug
I knew that…. (stupid brain)
Freudian slip anyone?
Even considering GB’s impromptu submission for the wet T-shirt contest, what she’s wearing doesn’t look like a slip…Freudian or not.
I have a really bad feeling about that open flame.
And the deflection by Sydney makes me wonder what is the strength limit of the LightHook.
We saw Sydney carrying three heroines effortlessly. On the cast list, her ‘telekinesis’ (i.e. the tentacle) is rated at three star strength. She mentioned to Maxima, in the restaurant, that she can lift a car with it.
I agree it’s strong the question is how strong. like could she pick up a semi or a train.
Well, we know that she has less than four star strength, and that was used to kick a tank through the air. Now that is not to say that the demonstration might have been a lot weaker than could actually be managed. But Archon have not attempted to conceal anything that is going to be fairly apparent after a few fights anyhow.
Only the more subtle of the orbs were classified, by example. And I doubt that Maxima would have told Stalwart to pull his punches. She wanted the villains to see that Archon are tougher than them. So it is reasonable to argue that Stalwart was demonstrating something that could only be achieved by four star strength.
Perhaps he might be able to pick up a train. Or that might move up into the top five star strength rating. So I doubt that three star strength can throw a tank. And telekinesis (which is what Halo’s tentacle is categorised under) is more flexible than regular super strength.
So, for a given rating, a telekinetic super is likely to be lower strength than a physically strong super. Simply because the star rating system is meant to reflect the overall utility of a power. If you can lift up things beyond a barrier, for instance, that is a lot more useful than only being able to pick up things you can grab, with your hands.
Finally Sydney is an experienced table-top role-player. Which means she will know about methodical testing of powers (and she has told Maxima about the results of those tests). I feel it is very unlikely that, having found she could lift a small car, that she would stop.
Sydney would likely have gone on to try a van, a semi and maybe a train. Although this is simply what she would have done, under ideal circumstances. Perhaps she had her forest-burning incident, at about this point, and chickened out of doing anything, too noticeable, in public areas.
But, going by the balance of probability, I would say that the tentacle probably cannot lift something weighing more than a car. And even a big car might be beyond her.

Changes to the Tally this time:
+ Names have been changed/added
+ Active/Defeated status updated for several villains
+ Page # of last seen updated for a few on the not defeated list
+ Updated the “beaten by whom” for some of the entries
+ Removed some of the appearances while unconscious if they were shown defeated earlier
+ Page # of 1st appearance of each villain has been added (black silhouettes only counted if I considered them distinctive)
+ Added some villains I missed the first time through but while revisiting #204… sigh… If they are too damn small in that parking lot scene I said “screw it.”
Note: I am still looking for villains’ names. Either taken from the comic itself or the author commentary. Until I have an agreed upon name I will just have a brief description of their appearance, outfit and/or abilities. Community consensus in replies to these posts will also be accepted, but I will keep the rough description in case the author names them in the future.
Well done and thank you! Mostly chaff or not, this is a massive super-powered battle.
Upon review it also occurs to me that Defeated Villain #18 may in fact be Shadowboxer with his odd skin tone instead of it being a long sleeve shirt.
I also still want to know if I am counting a defeated villain twice (#’s 4 and 19)
Also! Special attention to Active Villain #9 is it in fact the same person or 2 different people?
After reading this:
https://www.grrlpowercomic.com/archives/1399/comment-page-1#comment-160832
I realized that the arm and black pants figure in the corner of #224 that I attributed to defeated villain #1 cannot be that guy! This means he must get his own entry… sigh…
I’m gonna agree with you that #18 is Shadowboxer, which suggests that some of the others on the ground are those who were trounced inside the restaurant (Sidney’s depositing Lee Press-On Claws on the green strip, for instance). But even after we’ve trimmed out any possible duplicates, we’ve still got over 30 enemy combatants. The overall estimates on the number of supers are way off.
yeah the other guys in #224 are defeated villains #8,9, and 10. like it says above though I’m not sure if the left arm and partial torso and black pants in the bottom corner of #224 is the blue haired meathead or not… I would like an answer to that as well so I can streamline the list more
Name Suggestions:
Active #9: “The Blond Bombshell”
Defeated #29: “Budget Hulk”
Defeated #30: “Blue Ice”
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Active #9: “Bomber(Wo)Man – For those retro geeks out there
Defeated #29: “Mr Muscle” he seems to resemble the latest animated incarnation of the mr muscle super who does cleaning. And he got his clock cleaned as well so think it fits
Defeated #30: “Ice Ice Baby…..(couldn’t resist). Though every time I think of Blue Ice I am visualising what comes out of a planes toilet at 30,000 feet.
Oh and add some “age gate” ones on your DA page to add to the others on there. Is age gate an American saying?
Also need at least one British Villain if you are going to include Australia as well :D
Isn’t Gauntlette wearing union jack spandex leggings?
I maintain that Active 6 is Marbles.
Not sure if its already been mentioned, but I’m fairly certain that Active #8 (guy in blue suit with eye markings) is the same guy in the first panel of Strip #186.
yeah someone caught that in another comment, and I’ve already updated the list to reflect this.
City of Heros CCG was a hero card game that was related to the MMO of the same name. It had some definite flaws but all in all it was pretty fun.
Board game Geeks as a small list
https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/142449/top-10-super-hero-games
City of Heroes is the only CCG, and I’m wracking my brains for any others. One issue was that both DC and Marvel got fairly law-sutiy over the word Superhero back in the 90s so lots of little publishers stayed away from related things, especially if you weren’t an established name in the Roleplaying scene like Champions. I vaguely recall another one but could have just be CoH CCG sticking in my brain.
The only other Card based game that comes to me was Marvel’s Super Hero Adventure Game for the SAGA system.
DC Versus and Marvel Versus are both comic character CCGs. Marvel also had a blessedly short-lived X-Men CCG that came out right after the live-action movie.
Oh, and there’s a Teen Titans CCG too.
There’s also, quite recently a Marvel collectible game with dice – hard to tell whether it qualifies as CCG, since the thing you’re collecting is the character card, but you play the game mostly with the dice.
Life used to be so simple. All I needed was a contingency plan on how to keep power going, to my computer and internet service provider, when the zombie apocalypse came. Likewise getting friends, who live near to a City of Heroes server, to keep that online.
Now I have to figure out how to take over a Korean company, and order them to put it live again.
The only trouble is, that it would be rewarding the shareholders of the company which pulled the plug on it, in the first place! Although executing them, and the executives who made the decision, is the obvious answer, the legality enters a grey area. It is hard to find a way.
But, there is one.
First you need casus belli. Sadly, shutting down a massively multiplayer online game, before it’s time, is not sufficient cause for war. But, in this instance, there is no need to manufacture casus belli, it already exists. South Korea is still technically at war with North Korea. And North Korea with the United Nations.
Step one, found a new nation, by some means.
Step two, get it recognised by the United Nations.
Step three, invade North Korea.
Step four, claim it, by right of conquest. Which includes all its assets. The only important one being it’s casus belli with South Korea.
Step five, invade South Korea.
Step six, claim it, by right of conquest, and amend the constitution to give unlimited rights, as the new ruler.
Step seven, legally seize the company and nationalise it. Separate the useful technicians, necessary to get the game back online, from the guilty executives and shareholders. Naturally executing all the latter.
Step eight, put City of Heroes back online, in perpetuity. With a permanent power supply to the servers. Making sure it is all zombie proof. Preferably, with most of it, in a nice deep bunker, so that it is safe from nukes too.
Your steps seven and eight are mutually exclusive.
Eight is already iffy with steps five and six.
Five will cause most of the sharp techs leave the country – you might get the property, but won’t have the staff to maintain it as is. You could get a new game with the same name, but it won’t be the same, and it won’t outlive you.
Earlier steps involve successfully invading not one, but two countries, and you are worried that I would not be able to find a way of incensing some technicians?
:-D
They would be the most important people, in the country, and treated accordingly, like heroic celebrities.
I would even be magnanimous and offer stays of execution on any relatives, or friends, of key technicians, who were on the ‘naughty’ list. Which would give nice karmic rewards for those executives who treated their staff well.
Besides which, most of the creative staff and talent are in the US. The Koreans only contribution was to buy out the title. All I would be after is the rights to the company. There are copies of the whole game archived on three different continents.
There would not be much need for technicians. Probably only a few percent of the total employed in the company. Plus I would have reunified the country. Look at how much that benefited the German economy, after the reintegration period was over.
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/102652/sentinels-multiverse
Sentinels of the Multiverse is pretty awesome, but not *quite* collectible. There are a few expansions and a bunch of one-offs though, and the mechanic leaves some openings for combos.
It’s one of the best co-op games I’ve played in a long time. Up to five players play as silver age type heroes against a villain in an environment, both of which also “play” cards. It’s a lot of fun. :)
Zombie cannibal! Quick folks, what is the protocol here? Do we shoot him in the head? Or is that provision of a social service? If so, what is the protocol for declining an invitation, to stay for dinner?
Have we been officially introduced to miss “I think Aquaman’s outfit is cool” who is currently throwing stuff at Halo? (she probably also has a pack of ‘Trident’ gum in her back pocket)
P.S.
Based on the #202 link from Zephy above, and the person in comic #204 she has either:
– lost the black boots and black belt, added sleeves, and changed her hair color.
or:
– We have two people who showed up with the same outfit. A definite fashion faux-pas.
agreed. I would like the author to weigh in on this one… as well as another thing I replied to myself for above. Also OB, I liked your comment in the last page about “blue ice” I’m including it as a name suggestion in my next list version update
It’s the same person. I’m super bad at remembering details like that but when I’m drawing I forget that I’m bad so I don’t always go back and check which makes more work for me when I go through and do a corrections run.
EXCELLENT *scribbles notes*
*white house press corps style* May we officially call her “the blond bombshell”? Do you have a statement regarding the shadowboxer & #18 controversy? And the #4 & #19 scandal?
Considering Glow bug more or less shared that shock with Heatwave and wasn’t knocked out I doubt Heat is down for the count either.
except Glowbug probably has some resistance and Heatwave has a open wound that has metal in it.
People have killed themselves with 9-volt batteries. Er, a battery (just one). From the electric shock.
Heatwave has about half the conditions met… One of them being ‘alone’, so perhaps the best you can get here is a reaaaaly nasty shock
So…Glowbug is Australian? If so me likey.
This is a follow up message because i forgot to click the follow when new comments are added.
Glowbug’s outfit changed color too from that heat blast huh?
You do know your DA gallery has an age gate right? Would love to see the uncensored version.
Kind of a mistake to wear that filmy looking think that goes crystal clear when wet if you have body show off problems.
This is probably the first time she has had it washed (either it’s new, or she gets it dry-cleaned), and more than likely first time she has worn it and gotten wet
This one had me Laughing.
I’m just going to put this right here: https://www.geekdomgame.com/
All white and sort of skimpy – that’s what you get when you make an uniform with confort and too many comic books in your head. I ask myself if Heavenly Sword or any others in the “New Year’s Eve Suit Brigade” will suffer similar wardrode malfunctions amidst all the mayhem. :P
Glowbug?!? Seriously?!? So not only does she have an awful code-name, she’s clearly stupider than a hatrack. OF COURSE, her outfit gets transparent when it’s wet; all-white outfits always do that (that’s why you don’t see white bathing suits outside of Hollywood movies). Also, everyone knows you’re not supposed to be anywhere near water when touching/handling/dealing with electricity. Definitely a third-tier villainness, this one.
… at least for the moment. Many of her mistakes seem obvious in hindsight, but one has to remember how new this probably is to her. For example, it isn’t too farfetched to expect protection from one’s own electrical powers as a Required Secondary Power. “Stupid” isn’t making mistakes, it’s a failure to learn from such mistakes and it’s quite possible she goes in much smarter next time (assuming there is one, of course).
I doubt Glowbug put it on, intending to go swimming in it. And she is Australian, so she probably is not used to worrying about rain. Plus consideration should be given, just as with Heatwave, for panicking, when injured. In this case though, getting immersed in water was a critical priority, for treating her injury.
The fact that, only after doing that, did she get distracted by the social problem, is actually a credit that she had her priorities right. The water and electricity thing was a rash mistake, true enough, but not necessarily indicative of a low intelligence.
Glowbug was simply acting impetuously, in anger. Which is something villains tend to do. Deof Movestofca is right to say that it is how she learns from the mistakes, which will help define her.
“Glowbug was simply acting impetuously”
True enough, but that’s more than enough of a reason to qualify for a Darwin Award, ya’ know.
Naa, she survived. Darwins only get handed out for removing your genes from the pool.
Then she needs to remove her genes from that pool before she gets fried again.
Glowbug’s outfit does not look like it is made out of white denim to me. As such, she has no jeans on, to remove!
When did this thread switch to talking about GB’s genitalia?…er,…genetics?
Granted, I admit to be up to the discussion of the former, but I also concede that this isn’t the proper venue for it…
Well that killed the conversation.
*presents award for “Best Conversation Axe Murderer”* In an ironic way. Maybe with a little bow, whilst wearing a tu-tu, and arriving, on stage, on roller-blades.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the guy who’s been doing nothing but standing and absorbing fire/blocking stray attacks. Will not only be the one that is the last man standing.. but the one they legally can’t do /anything/ about because he hasn’t done a single provable thing beyond being a bystander.
Granted he might have been the one behind gathering this massive group together.. But he’s not even trying to call shots here.
On the other hand, he might be wanting to try and take the whole group on when they finish mopping up the other villains.
Are you talking about “Red Cape”?
RE: “he might have been the one behind gathering this massive group together” I’d like to draw your attention to the ACTUAL 1st appearance of the gentlemen in the blue fedora by the tree: #186
Just make sure there aren’t any squirrels on that limb before you go out on it. Wouldn’t want to see you get Hexed.
Windrave could always try sawing the limb off.
Perhaps they are so bad at fighting because it’s their first time. It’s possible most of them didn’t want to attack the good guys but they got an offer they couldn’t refuse. Or one that was too good to be true.
Honestly, if someone told me my student loan would be paid off if I took part in such an attack, then I would at least consider it. ;)
It’s more likely that they never fought other supers. “Normals” can’t compare to someone who can throw lightning, Glowbug would only realize how strong/weak she is after going up against another super. If she never did that before, it would explain her failures.
Is it wrong of me to assume that female villains like Hex and Glowbug aren’t really evil because they are cute, clumsy and not much of a threat? ^^
Not if you fancy them. Because you will be suffering from a genetic imperative, to forgive them any failings they might have.
Denied.
What a manly jaw, lol.
I really wish this comic was behind an age gate..
I know at least one webcomic site that has their adult content under an (admitted weak) age gate as well alongside their main content.
apparently they chaned stuffe nough recently that most of the old cards are worthless (like literally) wich sucks cause i had a decent Mirrodin black rat deck that was alot of fun to play
Depends on the cards I suppose. Some of them, if rulings have been made that contradict, wouldn’t be worth very much. That said the older copies of Swords Into Ploughshares can go for upwards of $100 whereas new ones only go for a couple of bucks tops. Older two-coloured lands (that just play, they don’t come in tapped or anything) can be crazy valuable.
Is it not very easy to use your hand to pull a knife out of your toe while you’re flying?
Not when you are squeamishly trying to avoid looking at the injury. And cringingly holding your hands up, by your face, for the same reason.
When I think “Superhero Cardgame”, my first thought is Vs System. It’s a Marvel/DC cardgame that’s based around various teams and/or loosely connected factions. I don’t know if it’s still going or if it’s faded into obscurity since I last played it (around 5 years ago), but it was a pretty robust card game with every team having their own mechanic for how they worked (on top of the base rules that everyone used, of course).
I’ve just got into Magic (courtesy of by brother and uncle) and it’s still really popular as far as I can tell. Like, it’s freakin’ huge.
Let me get straight, first you give heatwave a cringe inducing knife to toe/foot hit and now you fire lightning into it.
First one alone is cringe worthy this now is just……brutal..
There needs to be some kind of karma payback against glowbug…
You mean other than the near instant shock from the same attack?
Heroes are not immune from getting their arses kicked simply for being ‘good-guys’
Oh I agree they aren’t but shock to knife that is in foot? that’s just plain torture.
Doubt Glowb aimed for the knife in the foot (or even the foot), she just lashed out at the one that gave her sunburn that caused her to have an impromptue shower which caused her top to disappear
yeah, I suppose that is true.
Still horrific though, I mean if you’ve ever stepped on something or banged toe, or been just stung in foot or such you know how brutal that can be, add lightning *shudder*
But yes of course this is a comic and its great :)
maybe you should make it a seperate frame or something for your deviantart
A couple things about this puzzle me.
Glowbug is shocked by her own lightning. While it makes sense from a physics perspective, the problem is that it makes too much sense to make sense in a comics perspective, if that makes sense (I’ll admit that I threw in the final make sense just because I could). If a lightning user can be shocked by their own lightning, wouldn’t they almost always be shocked by their own lightning when they used their power while standing on the ground? Their body would provide a quicker path to ground than most things they would be trying to throw lightning to.
Also, the comic has so far shown us that people seem to be immune to their own generated effects. Heatwave encased her hand in molten aluminum with no ill effect when she caramelized herself.
Speaking of which, why is the knife still in Heatwave’s foot at all? From the aluminum example above, couldn’t she have just melted the knife causing it to fall away from her, and possibly acting as a makeshift wound sealer at the same time. The can previously basically encased her hand, on presumes the knife could do the same.
1: For some reason the water negates her immunity. Perhaps she ups her electrical resistance while using her powers, and the water lowered it again. Or perhaps she normally completes the circuit through the air, and the water made it complete through her instead.
2: Because Heatwave has never been the brightest bulb in the shed, and is currently panicking. (Although there’s questions about whether melting the knife would be a good idea, overall.)
There is a huge difference between melting an aluminium can and a knife-blade (heck, tend to dispose of cans in a normal open fire, so not that much heat is required)
Superhero CCGs are somewhat rare. The purest example I can think of is WildStorms, which used characters from Image comics, such as Savage Dragon, WildC.A.T.S., & Stormwatch. It was well done but never really picked up a following, since it came out when all the other CCGs showed up in the mid-late 90s and the market got flooded.
There are some newer games that are more in the LCG-style, such as the previously mentioned Sentinels of the Multiverse and Marvel’s new Legendary game. Legendary is particularly awesome, playing like a mash-up of Sentinels and Dominion.
How large is the lighthook’s range anyway? Is Halo running back and forth for this, or is she swatting things from some static central location?
That we do not know. We have only ever seen her moving, with the shield up, by flying. So, possibly, she has to swap out the Tentacle Orb, for the Fly Ball, fly to a new location, swap back and attack. Or, as you say, it is long enough to reach anywhere in the area. Or she may be able to walk, even with the shield up.
It is one of those wait and see things.
Hm, I’ve been pondering something. We’ve seen different types of feminists in the comic, and that makes sense since it does focus on the female characters.
But I’m curious if any of the men (or even, gasp, some of the women!) might be men’s rights activists.
And then there are straight, gay, and pan members of the team, but what about asexual team members? Everyone knows a guy like Math, and coming out to a guy like that tends to lead to, well…

Though it would be funny if Math turned out to be a closeted ace, and his behavior was all to cover up the fact.
And before anyone jumps the gun, I swear I’m not “that guy” who thinks every demographic and minority must be represented in everything. I’m just amusing myself with ponder and speculation.
MRAs? I severely hope not. I want to like these people, and MRAs subscribe to a dominantly despicable philosophy.
The sex ratio thing is interesting. If you check our (Australian) statistics we have 99.1 male to 100 female. If you check the CIA site we have 101 male to 100 female. The same CIA site has the USA as 97 male to 100 female. The taking leave in Australia due to large number of females with no male dates back to the war when we did have a lower ratio due to overseas service of the military approximately 73 males to 100 females, this doesn’t take into account the age of remaining males.
Since you connected baddie #30 with blue ice, I think a good villain name for him would be “ICBM”.
By the by Dave, I’m glad you didn’t waste time putting this page behind an age gate. Glowbug looks much sexier then her costume is dry (the first 2 panels had me wanting to call her ‘The Visible Woman”).
There are quite a few Superhero card games out there. Image comics and Wildstorm had arguably the best one, CoH made one, Marvel and DC BOTH had many many sets in the Vs. system, and Marvel had it;s own game thatfailed miserably…I loved the wildstorm and CoH games, myself. >.> If anyone wants to know more…email me. fillenevixen@gmail.com.
……I’m seeing a huge amount of girls with glasses….DaveB is there something you wish to tell us?
That can be put down to real-life demographics, rather than any subliminal insight into DaveB‘s psyche. Both Glowbug and Hex are cameos characters, based on photos of patrons of the comic. Looking at the cast list itself, only 20% of the female characters have glasses. Which actually is demographically low.
but wouldn’t abnormally healthy body aspect of super powers skew the demographic even further to the low side than it already is?
I think the title for this page is appropriate: Test your equipment before fielding it
Once she stood under running water, Glowbug at least confirmed that her headlights are working properly…
Sydney switches to tank spec.
“Denied!”
“Wrong”
“Oh……so close”
“That’s…….that’s really adorable”
“Please insert coins to continue”
Sydney gains a point in Trash Talk.
“DING MOTHER FUCKERS!”
Hmmm…I wonder where she would allocate that point in the skill-tree for her orbs?
Clearly to one of the Mystery Orbs. It’s power must be to enhance already pronounced natural attributes to super-human level. So Olympic-level swearing becomes a taunt, with the irresistible compulsion to retaliate. Abnormal spicy food eating would be elevated to being able to gargle with molten acid.
Tongue-Fu would become a four-star martial art!
But, on the down side, shiny objects might get elevated to being like a massive ball of catnip, to a feline!
Putting a point in selectivity, would make those more favourable. Ensuring that the good functions manifested in a useful way. And downplaying any disadvantageous side effects, by not enancing those.
