Grrl Power #173 – Biiig Bada Boom
I knew this was always going to happen from the start of the comic, Maxima going a little gung-ho in the demonstration. It’s funny how much the comic has changed in little ways since I first started drawing it. (I have roughed out pages of this whole scene from 4 years ago that I’ll post once we’re past the next few pages to avoid spoilers) I hadn’t put nearly as much thought into the whole PR angle beyond them becoming celebrities, and now this page with Max cutting lose does seem… well, the more I think about it the dumber it seems of her. People can be convinced that superheros are a good thing… fewer of them will be ok with “Daisy Cutter” walking around their neighborhood. Maxima just really doesn’t care what the public’s opinion is of her. This is all about scaring bad guys into not being bad guys. Plus it’s probably been a while since cut loose like this. Why not entertain and terrorize at the same time?
Oh and one thing I didn’t establish in the comic is that they’re not standing right there by the parking lot. They walked like a kilometer further down into the range, so the shockwave from this isn’t going to total the Osprey or anything.
I made a video showing off the relative power levels. I was planning on doing this for a number of powers, but it’s harder than I thought it would be. Coming up with an appropriate clip for level 4 and 5 powers is easy, the 1-3 stuff is much tougher. For instance, for the marksman ability, there are at least two scenes I can think of off the top of my head where someone intentionally shoots bullets out of the air with their gun. That’s perfect for the level 5 slot, but then what’s a good clip for Level 1? James Bond taking out 5 guys with 5 shots? Then what’s Level 2? Doing the same thing from horseback?
Anyway, here’s the energy blast levels. Like I noted above the mid level clips are somewhat less distinct, but I have a breakdown under the video on YouTube.
Here’s a direct link in case you don’t see the video: https://goo.gl/7qveBL
Sydney’s “EEEEEEE!” cracked me up! xD
Yep, LOVE it!
She’s so excited! And she just can’t hide it! ^,^
You could only call that expression a total nerdgasm. Sydney is living in a dream. Surrounded by people who have been part of her rich imagination for years. And miracle of miracles, she’s one of them. Maxima better get used to having a major fangirl for a trainee.
… AND she gets to (legally) blow s##t up. Big time. That in itself is more than enough reason for the “Eeeeeee!”.
I add my own to *eeeeeee!* to it.
One for the extra comic this week, the other for the sheer nerdgasm we all should have.
And a very enthusiastic *cheers* for Sydney to be able to keep the reporters (and ‘sadly’ Arianna) safe.
**Picks up jaw off of the floor, and resets it into place**
That was a BLAST!
***Jumps into ship, to avoid adamas***
*Bamfs behind Bismark* That was actually pretty good. *Hands him a “Schoolgirl Harem” Plushie and Bamfs away just before it explodes*
Let me guess: You got the 8th panel’s sound effect from Twilight Princess.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH6gsbx50kA at 3:57
Better link as it also has the timestamp in it.
Just helping out.
Actually, it’s a general “Gets louder and then sudden silence-before-a-storm then epic explosion situation” trope here. Not sure what the proper name of it is, would appreciate if someone pointed me to that.
I love the way he wrote the sound-effect, by the way :D
VOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMRSssshp
*pop*
“You unholy bitc”
BOOOOOOM
I know, I know, I wrote down exactly what’s available in the comic above, but when you really like a noise you have to try to imitate it. That’s the rule.
Damit I got reminded of The Game
Goddammit.
As near as I can work out, that blast is tearing a hole in the earth 45m across.
Doing some very rough calculations, I estimate that explosion is the same as 9,000kgs of high explosive.
But it looks like the explosion is drawn half way through expansion, so it could end up with a crater bigger than 45m, and so be a bigger blast than nine tonnes.
The moral of the story is, Don’t mess with Maxima!
So what you are basically saying is “it’s over 9000!”
(What? You were all thinking it anyway.)
*Gian mallet falls from sky and lands on O.B.Juan’s head*
I think for energy blast various Dragonball scenes would work better to show difference between power levels but than again we are talking about super heroes so examples were good enough :P
The level 5 Energy Blast shown is just about as weak as Goku’s very first (DragonBall) Kamehameha wave.
Adult Goku’s Kamehameha wave would reach level 20 easily.
I think it’s better to compare level 5 to Krillin’s Destructo Disc.
Level 6 would probably be Tien’s Tri-Beam.
Level 7 Picollo’s Special Beam Cannon.
What’s depicted here reminds me a bit of Vegeta’s Self-Sacrificing Energy Blast.
You know way too much about that.
Guilty as charged :p
And most of us should be mega-nerds for actually knowing what you’re talking about.
You say that like it’s a bad thing ;)
Actually Goku’s first kamehameha was only as strong as to make a small hole on a concrete wall and it only ruined a car but not totally destroy it so maybe level 2 or 3? :P
Yeah, I forgot.. it took him about two tries to outblast Master Roshi :p
Dragon Ball Z = the best example ever of “Power Creep”.
… Thinking on it, ‘Power Creep’ would also be a pretty good name for a supervillain.
Hah! indeed…
Given that they can speak in normal conversational tones through the force field, I wonder how long it takes for everyone’s eardrums to commit suicide after that 9kt (thanks for the calcs Michaelmcfakename) explosion
I think it was established that the Forcefield blocks harmfull amounts of any energy form, while leaving non harmfull ones (Normal, speach level schockwaves, Throath Mike Radio Waves) through.
If you think about it, everything can kill you. Inlcuding drinking too much water or having too much oxygen in the air.
Why do some people insist on harebrained interpreations/horror scenarios that only make sense in the most gritty super stories?
Was the tone of the comic not clearly enough established? Or are they just trolling?
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to rile you or call into question your writing; but as to your question, while I did feel that this is a more light hearted comic, I did not *know* and thus failed to take that into account.
I’ve been thinking about how Sydney’s force field works, and I’ve decided that it works like a limiter. Sound can get through, but dangerously loud sounds can’t. Radio waves can get through, but not dangerously high levels of any sort of radiation. While it would be interesting to explore the idea that Sydney’s field totally shuts out one thing or another like radio waves, it becomes too problematic that Sydney would be incommunicado whenever she has the thing up.
So what happened way back in comic #1, can’t happen to Sydney?
I’ve read some sci fy awhile back that talked about space marines and their armor. Specificly, the armor had a special energy shield that blocked high velocity impacts, such as gun shots. But in order to prevent it from knocking the marine across the room each time they touched a wall or set down, it would not effect low velocity impacts. The result was that the most deadly thing to such a space marine is a sword, which does it’s damage with low velocity.
I’m guessing it works a little like that?
Now you made me want to be a space marine…
With a gigantic sword?
With a reasonable sword. Unless Muguffin nanaites are real.
Are you talking about the energy shields of Galactic Patrol? The reasoning on those things was “space axes” had too much momentum and so they went through. They blocked energy beams, but not radios, so I guess it would be kind of similar.
Nah, this is fanfiction from X3 AP. Very very very good fanfiction IMO
Dune had something similar – to the point where in knife-fights fighters were trained to slow their knives just as they came to where the shield was.
It’s also probably the best explanation for why the shields in Star Wars Episode 1 work the way they do, letting walking droids through, but not landing craft or weapons fire.
Yeah, was thinking of Dune as well; with their shields up, they were walking battering rams, except against slow-moving blades (or having a wall fall on them)
It’s more likely based on the orb’s AI thinking “can this harm my operator?” If low velocity impacts got through Maxima would have killed her in the board room.
Mass Effect shield technology works like that.
The Kinetic barriers in Mass Effect do the same thing. They react to high velocity by activating but no to something moving slower than a punch.
The Dune series by Frank Herbert introduced that idea.
We do now have confirmation that she doesn’t need to be in the center of the shield though. (I’m not sure if that was shown before – there are a couple of times she could be slightly off-center, but it was close.)
The question than becomes if she can put the shield around something else – not be inside it at all.
My question is a little different. “Can she make the shield smaller than the furthest orbit of the balls? If so, how fast can she make the balls orbit? How durable are they?”
https://what-if.xkcd.com/1/ – Fusion shell limit breaker, anyone?
I’m in favor of this – the only reasonable shield that I can work through is like Lucky Starr’s in the Asimov books. Harmful radiation is purged, kinetic energy is reduced to a comfortable level (which also makes it an effective heat shield), etc.
Why am I reminded of Goa’uld personal shields?
Slow-poke stuff can get through (arrows, throwing knifes),
but not high-energy or high-velocity stuff (gun-shots, various energy weapons).
That’s really kind of confusing, the goauld had their big days on earth at a time when everything was thrown, slinged, or shot from a bow. Logically they should have been very very dead very very quickly. I suppose the only thing they really had in that case was offense since their defense was nullified.
Would it be something like the Protection from Flash from the Heroes system? So, if a sound, light, blast, or other form of energy is overwhelming and/or damaging, then the protection kicks in. So, if someone focused intense radiowaves at Sydney, her forcefield would modulate to protect vs. such.
Sydney? Don’t lose concentration! And certainly DON’T DROP THE BALLS!!!!!
He he. Very good point.
She can’t drop them, they float!
What they do when she lets go is not as important as the fact that all their atoms would be splattered across the far side of the desert due to the shield going down at an inappropriate time.
^That
The balls may not fall to the ground, but if she lets go, the shield goes down: while it has been shown she can hold them without activating them, we don’t know for certain yet that she must retain contact once they are active to keep them active (but it makes logic to be the case, as much ‘logic’ in a world with Super-powered Golden Elves and floaty balls of Awesomenessness)
It’s definitely not some thing you want test during an explosion.
Certainly not when you are protecting other people (other non-Powered people) inside your shield
Can we go EEEEEEEE! too?
Extra page yay.

+ 15, a key lime pie, and copious amounts of aged scotch.
OOohhh! I’m in for the scotch! And I’ll have a slice of that pie, too.
Okay, really not understanding the interaction between Ari and Maxi: was this also a message to Ari?
And is it just me, or does Hiro not seem impressed by/pleased with Maxi’s actions?
It looks like they’re frozen in sheer terror.
I think you may have hit the nail on the head here. I think Maxima is reminding Ari that she still hasn’t reminded forgiven her for the staged bank robbery. And also that she’s combat trained military personnel, rather than a circus trained performing seal.
I’m not 100% sure if Hiro and Stalwart are behind Synde’s shield or not.
So I agree that Hiro doesn’t sound pleased, but it could be that he’s just not looking forward to fixing his hair after it gets sandblasted, being a pretty boy and all.
Either that, or he’s a little more observant and might share Arianna’s opinion about overkill, perhaps to a lesser degree than Arianna.
Seeing as Maxima and Achilles are probably the only ones who could survive this, everyone else is probably behind the shield. Also, in the overview shot, you can see only 1 figure standing outside of the shield
ITYM: Maxima, Achilles, and Halo.
Without the HALOS, Halo is as much a Super as dear Suzie
Less liquefied, more atomised.

That reminded me of this.
I feel for you about the level thing. The videos would be tough to find. The clip with James Bond sounds good for a level one. For level two, there’s a scene in Navy Seals (1990) where a sniper named “God” makes a long distance Kill shot that might do well for that one. Level three, I wish I could remember the name of the movie that would be perfect. The movie itself was not that great. The premise is that 5 crime lords needed to die so 5 assassins got together to kill them. One of the assassins Set up a shot while the victims were eating. He timed it to the second and took the shot. Over about the next 20 minutes (rocket powered rifle so it was traveling the whole time) the movie dealt with the assassination of the others but kept cutting back to the scene in the restaurant and the rocket still traveling. The victims finished their meal, paid and went out to their car where the “bullets” finally arrived to kill them. However, since you need a clip, take a look at Enemy at the Gates (2001). There’s a scene where Major Konig (Ed Harris) Takes out someone in mid jump from a truly impressive distance. It’s considered an impossible shot.
There are Real Life examples of the Impossible shot that are more impressive though. Take a look at this website. https://www.cracked.com/article_19750_the-5-most-impossible-sniper-shots-ever-made.html
Most impressive pool shot I have seen in web comics is one attributed to Jenny Everywhere in Loxie and Zoot (NSFW: non-sexual nudity, due to being set at a nudist resort). 8-ball off the rail, off the 2 and into the corner, with the 2-ball blocking the hole. Sweet shot.
It’s stupid, but there’s an excellent level 4 in King Kong (though it’s not sold that way in the film):
Person A has a bunch of aggressive critters attacking him, and Person B blasts them all off of him with a THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN… WITHOUT hitting Person A even a little. So ridiculously impossible, you’d have to be superhuman.
Hah! The did that in the movie Top Secret, only it was used as a joke. “Chocolate Mousse” fired into a ~10 man melee with a machine gun and only hit the Nazis.
I love that movie!
Chocolate Mousse being awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cFSWxzXXOo
Certainly one of my favorites.
I think the problem with higher ranked ballistic accuracy is that it’s more comical than amazing.
Another place to look for clips of impressive shots would be Batman: Gotham Knight. It’s got a Deadshot section, and he has a couple. His opening shot (headshot, from a Ferris Wheel, across a city, through a wineglass stem) would be a good level 2 or 3.
for a 3, I would point to the pilot episode of Alphas – a character drops quarters into a coke machine – from 12 feet away. for the 4, same episode, same character fires a sniper shot through the target’s head. In a closed interrogation room. At night. From outside the building (ricocheting the bullet throughout the HVAC)
that make me think of the anime “to aru majutsu no index” the way they categorise power is kind of the same as in the video. (but less powerful thought) ;)
by the way, thanks for today’s page!
I hope you mean the people in the video are less powerful… I don’t want to cross paths with an accelerator, however super I am, *SPOILER* even if he is crippled, and especially if he’s not. Oh god… Tho, we can argue if he could modify the path of such beams and stuff, but if those things existed in that world, he’d probably have great understanding of them. Cause you know, their powers are based on their beliefs.
*END SPOILER*
Wrong “To Aru” — you’re thinking of “To Aru Kagaku no Railgun”
The one you’re talking about is “A Certain Magical Index”, which deals with the magic side of the story; the other one is “A Certain Scientific Railgun”, which deals with the science-y stuff.
Haha, that’s freaking epic. Almost reminds me of Borderlands 2 singularity grenades, except Max’s explodes, then implodes, then explodes again even bigger. Arianna is definitely not pleased at this gross display of power. Never the less, I think it will have Max’s desired intent.
I can see those wannabe supervillains clearly.
Maxima’s first part exploding tank: “Yeah, I can take that ‘b***h.'”
Last part mega explosion: *stars in disbelief and shock, wetting themseves* (at least)
oh! and for the shoting video maybe “golgo 13 “. there are some friking sniping in ther.
shooting the wings off a fly would be a good clip.
the film name escapes me atm.
I know this has happened but not sure of film of it existing but one bullet hitting multiple targets not in a straight line by curving around the inside of the skull to change direction.
Wasn’t that the movie ‘Wanted’?
Reminds me of the original ‘Buffy’ movie: She shoots a fly (on the wing), with a thumbtack she had in her mouth.
I just remembered…. Wasn’t Sydney’s hat under that tank?
Actually it was Peggy’s hat; Sydney just borrowed it. The hat was under where the hat used to be, before Max threw it to the other end of the bomb range. It may have survived the current detonation. Just watch, it flutters up against the force field next week.
After taking another look at the last image, we can see where all the previous action took place (just behind Max) and that it is clear of the current explosion. Peggy’s hat should survive.
and thanks to that video I just found an anime to go and watch!
Nausicaa is one of those seminal animes everyone needs to watch for proper anime literacy, along with Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ranma 1/2, Dragonball Z… hmm, probably Cowboy Beebop and Ghost in the Shell.
And don’t forget Neon Genesis Evangelion. :)
And after that, Dai-Guard. Which proceeds to reconstruct what Evangelion deconstructs ^^
And then watch a Gundam series of your choice, in order to find out what happens when the machinery is made by a competent engineer.
What about Lupin III and Urusei Yatsura (…probably showing my age here…)
I’ve seen some Lupin III episodes — though I admit I was probably in middle school when I did.
Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has/had several anime running on it. Lupin III, Detective Conan, Yu Yu Hakusho, and I think Fullmetal Alchemist were all running.
And Armored Trooper Votoms.
frick yeah Votoms!
And the 12 or 13 episode spin-off series, Armor Hunter Mellowlink. Or as my friend and I describe it, due to the main character’s nearly monomaniacal quest for vengeance, “The power of creative psychosis”
The manga version was ridiculously depressing though >_>
Aww, no Trigun?
you mean the anime of the guy that`s crying while eating donuts? : P
the Anime Music Video done to that song interspersed with the Cowboy BeBop characters hunting Vash was frickin’ hilarious, i wish i could understand Japanese though, as the song had a pretty good punk/metal beat but i couldn’t understand the lyrics.
You forgot:
Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Like the Clouds, Like the Wind (Kumo no you ni, Kaze no you ni) — (was originally attributed to Studio Ghibli, but it isn’t theirs)
Break Blade/Broken Blade (because mecha’s AND realistic storyline, that’s why)
Bleach
One Piece (because F***ING EPIC storyline)
Titan AE (which admittedly I believe isn’t actually an anime, but it’s hilarious)
Eureka Seven (But not the sequel, which sadly sucks in comparison)
Also, the dub of Nausicaa is actually amazing — unlike so many other dubs.
Titan AE is one of the last animated features produced by Don Bluth Studios, with lots of computer graphics for the bad guys.
Space Runaway Ideon: For when you want the entire universe and all living and non living things destroyed.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Runaway_Ideon
There’s also Samurai Champloo.
I’ll add Outlaw Star to this: Firefly + Cowboy Beebop.
I first saw Akira at the tender age of 7 years old…..Wanna talk about being scarred for years to come? >_<
GUUUNBUSSSTERRR!
heh…the origin of “Gainaxing”…hence the fan-name BustGunner
Probably the first the rest of the team have realy seen each other do their stuff without holding back.
dont belive she does this often. Ari didnt recognises the second stage.
I think if I were Achilles, I’d like to have been surfing that shock-wave.
Pop up to try and eat the miniature implosion/explosion before it goes boom again.
Bada big boom, Big! Boom! Ahhhh, ♥ Fifth Element!
Dammit!! Made me want to watch Fifth Element again just to see that scene! lol
Sadly, the movie was toned down very much in comparison to the novel; else it would have been R-rated.
One of my all-time favourite movies.
Random thoughts.
Officers do go through public relations training, Max should know better.
And two…
Honestly it’s not that big a deal. We routinely give control of much more powerful weapons to military personnel. The only thing impressive about Max is that she can do that in her underwear, while most people would need artillery or an aircraft to deliver that big a boom. However any B-52 pilot can wreak a lot more havock than what Max did, and the BUFF is not exactly a new aircraft.
The ability to do damage is not really what sets most superheros apart, any lunatic with some gas and fertalizer can blow stuff up. It’s just cooler to do it in your skivvies.
Yeah, I don’t know if the military ever televised stuff like nuclear bomb tests. I know the point of much of the early testing was to remind foreign powers that we have a shitload of nukes, so it seems like there should have been some publicity around them. Although I don’t remember the US ever doing those big military parades the way more insecure nations always seem to do like the USSR or North Korea.
Yes they did.
And the fun thing is that, though the exact energy of the bomb was kept secret, the film was enough for a good physicist to estimate it precisely, and very simply, just with dimensional analysis.
Basically, you want an energy E [ ML^2/T^2], you can see on the video the radius R [Length] of the explosion for a given time T [Time]. The only other relevant quantity you may find for the shock wave is the air density d [M / L^3]. There is only one way to write an energy with these three quantities, so that
E = R^5 / dT^2 , up to a multiplicative constant that should be neither big nor small, more or less one.
[OK, Taylor also had thought that air pressure p could play a role, but a few data points had shown that was not important. And he also made an experiment to measure the multiplicative constant (once you have the above formula, you can do that with any small explosion), which turned out to be really close to 1.]
Oops, typed too fast: it’s E = R^5d / T^2 . But everybody had corrected by himself, I’m sure :)
I prefer E = R2D2 / C3PO
My favorite is E=MC^Hammer :)
Back when the US still did ground-based nuclear tests in Nevada, you could actually go and watch them live, in person. Not surprisingly some people have subsequently suffered health effects from radiation exposure after being in the audience for one of those tests.
My father was in the Chemical Corp, and was with his team in trenches upwind of a few nuclear tests. He and his team then had to decontaminate vehicles which were placed in the vicinity of the tests. This essentially meant washing them down just like you’d do at one of those open bay car self-washes. Long handled brooms and lots of soap and water and elbow grease.
And, as he tells it, during one test….the wind shifted and the trenches had fallout from the explosion dropped on them.
78 years old and never a hint of cancer.
A very fortunate man, considering.
;) Maybe you should check him for superpowers.
He is super-pedantic. Does that count? :-P
W-e-l-l, provided he uses his powers for Good rather than Evil …..
first thing i thought of when i saw the look on Sydney’s face in panel 7 was LT. Pi
Me thinks that the next scene should be Joel at the Comic shop watching tv… and picking up his dropped Jaw Bone…
this comic needs more Joel :p
Yea, I miss joel
Panel 7 describes my face when i saw a mid week comic :D
Great panel management!
…Are Maxima’s clothes going to survive this?
I was wondering the same thing. It would be awesomesauce if the blast clears and there stand Maxima butt naked! Probably not gonna happen though. After all, her clothes survived the high speed flight out without noticeable damage. Most likely her personal forcefield will be able to protect her clothes too.
Zero range telekenisis. She can extend her powers to anything she touches. So yea, they’ll probably be fine
Big Bada Boom
This opens up all kinds of questions about the extent of Maxima’s powers: not just how strong they are, but how much control she has. Did she “program” that second blast when she created the energy ball or does she have real-time control over it? If it is real-time control, was her initial throw just a fake-out: can she control the energy ball’s flight as well as its explosive properties?
It is a bit like comparing the eye beams of Superman (which follow a high-speed straight line) and Apocalypse (which are slower and turn in flight to make a second attempt at hitting somebody if dodged).
My guess is that it works like a granede. Timed explosion
I think you’re talking about Darkseid’s Omega beams, which are target seeking.
Oooh, what if Maxima turns out to be a bad guy in the long run?
She doesn’t seem to like operating within the rules when they restrict her from what she thinks is an obvious course of action. A situation in future could occur that cause her to take a more direct approach to solving, which puts her at odds with ARCHON’s within the rules, by the book ways of operating.
Both ARCHON and Maxima trying to do what they think is right, but in incompatible ways which sets them both against each other.
Maxima is the most “By-the-Book” of the lot. But she’s military, which means she’s not above a little overkill to make a point.
Thursday update makes me happy.
Ok, now that was Way BETTER than anything Freiza could have done :) Great job Dave :D
At least she recycled the tank back to whence it came, the earth… Better than any recycling plant can do.
UNHOLY?
Gold and shiny LOOKS rather holy.
This would be more appropriate directed at the demon.
Unless her heightened uniqueness is an aspect of secrecy and she also is a demon.
Lets face it – a sucubus is harder to keep secret.
Even Hell Boy was brought up on earth so why not Maxima ?
Thing is, there is no such thing as ‘Un‘Holy
It looks like Maxima got her hands on an illudium q-36 explosive space modulator.
:D BIG BADA BOOM! (Fifth Element reference ftw).
I love Sydney’s, sorry, HALO’s face in panel 7! :D
The thing I find interesting, provided I’m understanding the examples in the video right, is that this is only Level 4 (NOT maximum power for Maxima).
Given that I don’t get all the symbols in the character portraits… If I’m reading Sidney’s right her force field is Level 4.
So I’m guessing Maxima pulled her punch enough for safety, but still went as strongly as she could withing that range, for effect.
Sydney’s power lists has 1 orb thingy, which I gues is the forcefield. That has 5 dots
Flight is 4, energy beam is 3
How about lucky luck as a lvl 3 marksman? His whole thing is that he shoots faster than his shadow, can take out 5 daltons with a single shot, that sorta thing.
Should also be easy to find some footage of it
Spelling mistake: it was Lucky Luke.
This is awesome. What’s the glowy thing in the 8th panel?
The ‘energy ball’ exploded, reformed and exploded again.
I can see someone in an argument with Maxima saying ‘It’s rude to point. Especially when *you* point.’
Tip of the hat (for the quote) to an old favorite comic named NEXUS. Title character had much the same reaction penalties Maxima is going to have after this, but also had sense enough to wear a mask while on-duty.
For some ‘mid-range’ shooting from anime, take a look at City Hunter and Angel Heart, both created by Tsukasa Hojo.
In one incident in City Hunter, Ryo Saeba assassinates a person with a rifle, with a head shot, but does it in such a way that casual examination wouldn’t even reveal a gunshot wound (bullet enters the head through the ear canal, specially made bullet expands in such a way that it does not create an exit wound.) To make this shot more difficult, he was taking out a boxer, during the fight, WHILE the target’s head is recoiling from a hit. (episode 3). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h0tof1I_Ac [From 20:15 to 21:12]
The next episode, Ryo takes a shot through a moving crowded train in Tokyo to destroy his enemy’s weapon to resolve a hostage situation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TID3jXpJkA (from 20:00 to 20:41)
Let me know how you’d rate those two shots. Ryo is CLEARLY an insanely skilled marksman with superhuman reflexes and reaction time.
Since no one else has made the comment and linked to the clip, I guess I will have to do it.
Sure, but can she destroy a tank Dr. Manhattan style?: https://youtu.be/1uXkRVWKXg8
