Grrl Power #167 – Sydney Beam Activate!
The erratic Sydneyhameha attack is simultaneously less powerful yet more dangerous than the proper Kamehameha.
Related but… not – Something I learned while I was googling Kamehameha to make sure I was spelling it correctly (I thought it was Kame Hame Ha) is that Kamehameha is also the name of a dude that conquered the Hawaiian islands in 1810. His full name was Kalani Paiʻea Wohi o Kaleikini Kealiʻikui Kamehameha o ʻIolani i Kaiwikapu kauʻi Ka Liholiho Kūnuiākea which is awesome. And now, half of your battle is won. You’re welcome. Edit: Turns out the DBZ attack was actually named after this guy, so go figure.
Oh I’ve added the ability to click on the comic to advance to the next one, which… if you’re caught up doesn’t do you any good but I guess for the next time you go back into the archive.
November really snuck up on me so I don’t have a new vote incentive yet, so instead I’ll show you a really old piece of art from a page that hasn’t happened yet. I know that’s maybe a little confusing but I have a bunch of pages still from when I was gearing up to do the comic. I was drawing scenes that I knew would eventually happen while figuring out my process. This one doesn’t spoil anything, other than confirming that Dabbler has sass. I’ll try and have something fresh up next week.
And Sydney goes from Air Force to Air Farce.
You have to know that she was always going to.
But that would mean she is related to Canada in some way.
RCAF – Royal Canadian Air Farce now replaced by Her Majesty’s Government.
Well, as Luba and Don were considering retirement, they did bring in other young talent to pick up the torch, but when the originals were set to leave, they ended the show instead. I still miss them from originally radio and then TV. You want a farse, you have to look a little further south. Do we havbe to come down there and burn the White House again to get you guys to get your act together?
Nah. you’d have to take out the Congress building. Presidents mostly a figurehead now, I said mostly
A dangerous figurehead with extremely dangerous views, that the illinformed follow blindly and sheep-like
Don’t they just.
You underestimate his power. He’s got a scary amount of power actually. He’s not supposed to be able to declare war or make laws on his own, but its been done.
Yes, all of a sudden, “Executive orders” are being treated as if they have the force of law…which they don’t. They only apply to lesser members of the executive branch, but he’s not using them that way. I expect him to give “The Speech” any day now (Take your pick):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo4cFViNLes (Replace “Jedi” with “Tea Party”)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru1rfa332V4 (Replace “Zerg” and “Protoss” with “Tea Party” and “Al Qaida” respectively)
(I forgot – in that second one, replace “Confederacy” with “Constitution”)
Now the question is, did she miss?
Considering what happened the last time, I think this is a case of “Close counts”
…. Or, as with nuclear weapons, there is no such thing as a near miss.
Thinking what is left of that tank is about to become confetti.
Close only counts in Horseshoes, Hand Grenades, & Thermo-Nucular Weapons.
And PPOs
And wave motion guns like the SDF-1’s main cannon.
And biological or chemical weapons.
Depending on the wind.
The Space Battleship Yamato had the Wave Motion Gun. The SDF-1 had the Super Dimensional Energy Cannon.
Just say’n.
It’s gratifying to discover I’m not the only one who knows this.
the blast radius or power of that attack may over come its need for accuracy
Being tagged by confetti does not hurt, unless it gets in your eyes. Getting tagged by high-speed molten tank parts, well not so much, unless it means you will never feel pain again.
Let’s asume they put up one or more (invisble) force fields to protect everyone not immune to sharpnellon this range. Between Dabblers magic and superscience, she should have several ways.
I wonder through how many layers the attack will break….
Otherwise any of the demonstrations so far would had the risk hurting a reporter. I mean they always were close enough to talk to the person using thier power. Of course they still had to aim away – you don’t point a gun at a person when it is loaded and safeties are off. And the field propably only covers one direction (towards the audience), wich is why Dabbler used achilles as stop-sign.
I meant they shoot a freakign railgun. Any minor shrapnell from that could have hurt a dozen bystanders.
Nah, it’s more likely Syd will discover mole-people now…
or reach Australia.
Or the shot pings off somehow and hits a mountain.
“Mountain? What mountain?”
Replies: “The one you left that huge hole in.” “The one that used to stand where you left that ginormous crater.”
“Oopsie.”- comment on the fact she just punched a hole through the moon.
On incentive, even w/perspective, lower left arm is missing from picture. As is the shoulder rise/ridge/bump that’s there for right lower.
Could she use her tentacle (it’s energy right?) to form a gun around her other hand and pulse the fire from this orb? Be a neat combo trick…
That or make a very wicked energy lash with effects occurring on strike. Better CQ weapon?
That would depend on if the orbs powers can merge
It would be a neat trick but a little problematic unless she follows the laws of Physics published by one Wile E Coyote.
You did forget about the only two rule didn’t you? Or am I miss-remembering things again?
From that angle, you shouldn’t be able to see lower lefty
Is that a shield? It looks like it’s blocking the light from the beam.
May be a safety measure to protect the wielder from Backblast.
Probably. That umbral effect is VERY nice!
Yes, it looks like a shield to protect the weilder’s eyes, brain and internal organs.
Looks like her toes will be baked though.
I suppose those boots will give sufficient protection from serious injury.
(Make them smoke slightly next week!)
i figure its a quick flash of gathered energy. like the water in the top of the funnel as its being poured out the bottom.
May be a portal effect. Accessing the energy from the nearest star. Larger the appature the more powerful the blast.
This time letting a little sunshine into your life might not be such a good thing, especially on the receiving end of a PPO.
SOLAR BEAM!
Sydney used Solar Beam!
We’ll find out next week if it’s Super Effective.
Grass is not very effective against steel though.
Though raw power can probably overcome that
Yeah, solar power can be a bit problematic.
In my superhero novel I had my portal maker open a portal to the sun to dump some baddie in.
Or to be more precise: I put the exit of the portal-set ontop of him. That’s one quick and effective frying.
Did PR-savvy Arianna really decide to let Sydney demonstrate the PPO without knowing anything about it? Seems a little careless of her.
It is only one of a number of things that Arianna showed a major lack of foresight about. The ‘fake bank job’ being #1 on the list, IMO.
A cogent point.
Indeed. She’s a little too caught up in the Machiavellian end of things to pay attention to the big picture. Sometimes.
Someone who considers herself so smart, she can’t see when she is doing something stupid.
We have not even seen Arianna during this entire demonstartion.
And it is clear that for this Military Demonstration on a Military Artillery Range led by the Military Officer Maxima things are following proper Protocolls for safety.
Nope, this comic won’t turn Grimdark anytime soon.
I really hope this comic manages to avoid the “Zalgo” effect or what ever the internet wants to call it when a comic turns from what ever it was too grimdark. Unfortunatly while it was hit and miss for a while with it, spinnerrette is now a victim of it. Sluggy Freelance manages to move back and forth but has managed not to die from it like so many others have.
Sounds like player character plans. We’re all plenty clever, but once it comes time to make and execute the plan for a Shadowrun job we tend to forget about, well, a lot of things and looking back on it instead of a simple smash and grab we have set the block on fire.
You guys only set fire to a block, hell my old group turned an entire 30 story building into a container for a natural-gas-fuel-air-bomb. It took the GM 3 hours to calculate the blast damage radius. And yes, we did work out the proper PPM it took before over saturation occurred.
PLEASE tell me it was Renraku or Saeder-Krup
Max and Syd went to the test site early. We didn’t see all the test they did. Max may have had Syd fire up at the sky for all we know. I’m sure Max at least thought of testing the PPO before leting Syd show it off.
Max wouldn’t let something like that happen.
(mosque) blow up one and no
one lets you forget.
Umm, if Maxi had had Sydney fire up into the sky, Sydney would have known about the safety-lock
Looks like the desert will have a new crater soon…
or a VERY large glass bowl.
Possibly both.
fill with water and we got a swimming pool. Have heatwave in, we get a jacuzzi.
A glass lined swimming pool in the middle of the bomb range? Might not be the most practical location.
Or, a perfect spot for Les’ private jacuzzi ;)
Well it is only working with heatwave in it. So it is propably only for her and Achilles.
I honestly don’t think in the practical sense.
HA! Called it!
I sorta wanted to see “PULL!”.
Well it would have given us a sense of Sydney and Maxima working as a team…
From that last panel, I’m now wondering if the PPO may have some MAJOR recoil / thrust going on there. Noting that Sydney has probably tested this one the least so far (there are only so many forests one can burn down before people start noticing, after all).
Two other probablies here – using the PPO in flight AND using the PPO full on. My guess is that Sydney has NOT done either much, if at all. Almost certainly not both together,
The question isn’t so much how big a hole in the test range, as how close to escape velocity does Sydney get before she cuts thrust or Max catches up?
The orbs stayed in place when Maxima pulled on them, her fly orb negates gravity, its should be easy for them to stop any recoil
Yeah, the flight orb holds her in a stable position against any and all forces
Well, we don’t really know that. Trying to pull the orbs away from Sydney resulted in them holding position, but Sydney can be moved and the orbs follow along with her.
Based on her hair and hat, I’d say she’s not moving backwards very much but is being buffeted by a shock wave from the PPO blast. In fact, I would expect minimal recoil from it, unless the beam is made of solid matter.
You are probably right – but still think MY way would be more fun. ;)
Not to be a butthead but shouldn’t the hair and hat be flying forward as she flies backward from the blast?
It depends. Is she being shoved backwards, or is there a mini-shockwave recoil from the ring effect that’s puffing a big gust of wind back at her? Can’t tell at this juncture.
I would tend to think it’s wind generated by super heated air in front of the blast. Not hot enough to burn her, but enough to blow back on her, like opening a blast furnace door….
the flight orb projects a light-strength shield over her to protect her from Bird Strikes and such.
It does? When Sydney and Max were flying she used to Flight and the shield orb
Dave said it. High speed needs the Shield orb, but low speed the flight orb’s is sufficent
Cool, nice to know
Due to the way it is drawn, we are assuming that the PPO is acting like a rocket and pushing Sydney in an “equal but opposite reaction” kind of thing. I do not think that is what is happening. She may have realized in the second last panel that to fire the PPO, she needed to be in the same posture that she was in when she last could fire it (Sorry about the forest fire). Thus, legs forward, flying forward without the shield to keep her hair from not trailing behind her.
Suzie has a point. “Takes extra time” is nasty disad to put on an attack power.
Any one of these panels that shows Sidney’s face would be great for the top of the page. :)
TET is a disadvantage, that’s why it makes the power cost fewer points ^_^
So it does make it of limited utility whenever there’s someone who might try to interrupt Sidney’s Sidneyhameha Wave, or against a target that might dodge. If she’s not flying, though, the shield orb can protect against the former problem. And in any case it makes an excellent KNOCK!!!! spell to use on fortified positions/lairs.
Knock spells are limited to doors and locks. Now, Sydney, not so much. She can knock anywhere on the structure, probably.
However, Sydney clearly has it in a multipower (With all slots having half the active points in the MP, since any two of them can be used at full strength), so the savings is minimal…in a multipower, it’s the active points that count
Suzie might be commenting on Sydney calling out her attack, not the time it’s taking.
99% Chance Sydney did that calling just for show and can fire those as fast as maxima can hers.
She did realise that the trigger on this orb is a bit harder to pull. Wich as far as I heard is a common difference between Hunting and Military Weapons. It is a lot harder to pull the trigger on a Military Rifle, simply for safety reasons. If they weren’t there would be a lot more accidental discharges in combat and maneuver situations.
Don’t forget this is the 2nd time ever that Sydney uses this orb. I’m sure she’ll be very efficient with it once she had some practice, but not yet
I was kind of expecting it to make a gradually increasing howl that her team mates will next time realise its time to move either behind Halo or far behind Halo maybe another continent away and that is whats scares her opponents!
This is probably the first time they’ve seen this used next time they’ll reconsider and back up several miles before getting a serious sunburn… if they’re LUCKY!
Am I the only one who is more focused on the crackling in the bottom left panel?
I thought it was just to indicate the sudden realisation she had, and wasn’t literal cracking.
Some people get light bulbs, Sidney gets a thunderstorm ^_^
Brainstorm – are we really loosing all the old tropes that quickly or are we just showing our age by knowing them?
This is more of an “OH SH!T!!!!!” moment rather than a “EUREKA!” moment, so the lightning storm crackle is more appropriate than the light bulb ding
Given who we’re talking about, I’m wondering if there could also be an element of “THROW THE THIRD SWITCH, IGOR!” in there someplace.
Yeah, a take on the old light bulb moment.
That crackling in the second to last panel suspiciously looks like the crackling that’s on the ball in the previous panels. Maybe she has to visualize the crackling to disengage the ‘safety’…
So the creator of DB put a pun in his manga, and Sidney stole it. I can’t say I’m real surprised at either of these occurrences…
A Pun, oh gods, read the comics, there are puns all over the place.
DB is halfway to XANITH where the if the puns get any thicker they would walk on there own ……OH to late they do.
Xanth is one big pun and many many ‘play-on-words’ (heck, the name itself is from the authors name: Piers Anthony)
good books by the way, repetitive as hell but still good cute books, i really enjoyed those i could get my hands on from that serie.
I think the series holds the record for the longest time between setup and punchline in a televised pun with Boppity and Bu being introduced 2 seasons before Bibity was introduced as backstory. (Bibity, Boppity, Boo was a song from a Disney movie, Bedknobs and Broomsticks).
Did Sydney squeeze the orb to shoot? Or what?
Probably figured out that it is emotionally triggered. and how to focus on how much or how small she wants the beam to be.
or Mental command like “Safety off”
That sounds about right: she has to actually mentally turn the safety off every time
I’m fairly sure than in the Dragon Ball manga that the Turtle Hermit mentions that the attack was named after a King.
A quick googling indicates that the Kamehameha attack was in fact named after the guy.
Kame also means “turtle” (you can see the words “Kame house” on Roshi’s house) – so the attack is also a pun…not only is it named after King Kamahameha, if you write it in the correct kanji, it means “Turtle Destruction Wave”
I am curious. Number of Dragon balls: 7. Number of Sydney balls: 7. Coincidence?
Maybe as an encore Sydney can summon Shenron.
Only if she can successfully hold all 7 in attack/activation mode at the same time!! And, as we know, Sydney can only hold 2 in that mode at a time, for now…
I’m guessing that during some future crisis, she will realise more than two orbs can be used at a time if she uses the tentacle orb to grab other orbs.
Dunno if that’d work but maybe Dabbler could help out by jumping on Sydney’s back, wrapping her legs around Sydney’s waist and grabbing four more balls? That’d still leave one ball with no hand to hold it though.
I don’t think Dave has established if anyone, other than Sydney, can use the orbs…wait… just got the mental image…well it couldn’t hurt for them to try. ; p
Sounds like a party to me.
I doubt it. It was pretty firmly established that the orbs *had* to be touched by the palms of her hands. Nothing else would work.
My guess is that one or both of the mystery orbs is a|are remote controls for the others.
Well to look at it, the beam is generated several inches from the orb. That helps when she is holding the shield orb as well. No bounce back from inside the shield.
From the art coloring, she’s still holding the Blue flight ball, not the Purple shield ball. (Tentacle is Pink even though the interior is blue, because that’s the outer edge color and it helps differentiate.) Orangefire is obviously the PPO, Yellow is telepresence, and Plebian Brown and Green are the unknowns.
…Agreed?
As listed in the Who’s Who. She is still holding the Flight orb because she still several metres in the air.
Several hundred metres
Well dozens anyway.
I was writing about future uses, when she uses the shield orb and the PPO at the same time as the shield orb was activated.
It’s probily a scalable weapon if it needs a lot to set it off. You know the day that ball turns black is going to be awesome-sause.
Nice! Dragon, Dragon, rock the dragon! Wonder if Sydney has a turtle hermit for a grandfather?
Bah…”Rock the dragon” is the worst of all the DBZ openings…Go for the original, Mon!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm0Bv8xy75g
I like them all, Japanese or otherwise. If I felt it would fit, I’d of used lines from another one.
Rock the Dragon metal as all get out! And it’s the one I grew up with!
Ah well.
I still think she should have gone with this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecbTsBMeBy8
Sydney Attack!
But, now we have to wait till next week to see what damage was done.
…That does sum up the suckage of it, yes.
I’m voting for a molten tank puddle in the center of a glass surface from the sand, in the shape of a giant contact lens.
I’m voting for her missing the target, and the press diving for cover.
Close miss resulting in a flying spinning tank and her then trying to hit a moving target :)
No “oh Shit” moment and everybody running from a wall of sand washing over them?
I think the audience is far enough away, not to get hurt.
Gven the likelihood that everybody has underestimated what the PPO can do, I’m voting for the observers to all have at least gotten a tan.
This is possible, If were any of them perhaps wearing shades, this would be evident.
:) Can imagine Arianna facing the newsies at the end of the demonstration, smugly going on about ARC’s “controlled” demonstration …..
… And then she suddenly realizes that the newsies facing her all look a tad ……. different.
have everybody with a tan and possibly singed hair. If I was the bald guy, I’d be going “Ahh, My hair.” Followed by dirty looks from the others.
Um … not get hurt, I can see. But not get covered by a layer of sand???
I guess a laser of that magnitude can produce a shock wave, but how much of one? Are we talking specs of sand or mounds of sand? Not to mention it would be a bit warm form the blast. Also the second panel suggest that they are a fair distance away.
After that much buildup and suspense? I’m expecting a bunt :P
I’m voting for the tank to be left without any more damage – BUT it’s now at the bottom of a very deep hole in the ground.
I was thinking the same thing. This comic is the only reason Mondays are good.
Next week, we see Max rubbing a slight discoloration on the bottom of the tank.
Max: That was it?! You made it sound like this was a really scary powerful weapon, with all the “It makes explody beams” and such but it was just a fancy light-show?
Sydney: Well this was the first time I shot it when I really meant to. I don’t operate well under pressure.
The alternative has Max flying up behind Sydney and talking calmly into her ear.
Max: The idea was to leave me with something to hit. Now, once the area cools enough, we will get a glass-lined pond every time it rains. Where did the tank go by the way?
Sydney: See that cloud up there? Well as it cools, it will form something like iron filings and start floating to the ground. It might be a good time to get the press out of here; you don’t want them breathing any of it.
The actual results are likely somewhere in between these two versions.
Just like a real episode of Dragonball Z!
If that were true the next three comics would just be the beam traveling to the tank, with the occasional ‘meanwhile’ cuts thrown in.
If it was like a real episode of DBZ, it would take her 3 weeks just to recite the name of the blast while powering up…
I watched Dragonball for a while to see what all the noise was about and, in my opinion, more happens in one episode of Pokémon than in an entire week of Dragonball. (At the time, Dragonball was playing five days a week…)
Well when half of each episode for 5 episodes is a SINGLE character screaming while building power for ONE shot of the extra-super-duper-Omega power blast…
Hey man, those spirit bombs take time to build…
I’m assuming you mean Dragonball Z, not Dragonball (the one about Goku as a little kid) since that one was much more story driven, except for the martial arts tournament episodes…
DBZ may be the best possible example, in ANY medium, of the phenomenon called “Power Creep”.
Or hold your thumbs for a thursday update. They have happened.
OH, Oh, Oh … Don’t tease me like that!
650,000 micromort? That means just a 65% chance to destroy the tank. I thought the PPO would be stronger.
I rather suspect that the micromort value also includes the probability that Syndey hits her target, rather than accidentally setting fire to the press box, the moon, or any other nearby flameable objects.
And also the odds that she won’t get distracted by some random shiny object and forget what she was supposed to be shooting at in the first place.
Strong but inaccurate with splash damage doing a lesser amount, possibly. Thus humans anywhere in splash would be fatal, but the central beam needs to hit anything of less flammability. The tank may still be out of commission for this battle though.
You forgot that the remaining 35% were destroyed by the previous demonstrations
HAHAH LOOVE IT
Oh great. One of Sydney’s orbs is the Eye of Sauron. Maybe one of the unknown orbs is a Palantir?
FYI: The Hawaiian King is pronounced kah-MAY-ha-MAY-ha. the DB version is usually pronounced KAH-may-HA-may-HA. (At least in the English version)
so you saw it too
Panel 8: another reason her codename of Halo is appropriate for her.
Interesting and sensible for the energy blast to be generated separately from the orb, a short distance away, rather than AT the orb (and incinerating the hand of its wielder).
To be honest, I’m confused. So, unlike what Suzie said and based on the analyses in the comments, her energy doesn’t actually have a charge up time? But what actually got it to trigger? How? Syd seems to have such easy control over the others. Flight and tentacle are rather complicated powers, yet she handles them without difficulty. So why not here?
So Syd’s on the money that there’s a built-in safety mechanism to the PPO? Thus it takes a “safety off” thought or mental command to fire it? Another way to look at/word for that command is thus: “Harm”.
The other advantage to the “starts a short distance away from the orb” effect is that she could use it from INSIDE her barrier. In Hero system terms, it has the advantage “Indirect” with the limitation that it can only start a few feet from her instead of at extrteme distances.
Sydney probably just has more practice with the other orbs. By the look of things, she only fired the PPO once (okay, twice now), while she has used the others multiple times.
This suggests that the reason that she can’t figure out the two unknown orbs is that they are really really really dangerous.
Or do something that she can’t utilize on planet like generating a oxygen field around her so she can fly in space.
Or she just can’t figure out the trigger. She figured out how to trigger all other orbs
Sydney’s just showboating at first, but then she gets stuck for a second. She’ll figure it out. Probably.
“generated separately from the orb, a short distance away,”
Or the energy that is generating the beam requires a short distance from the ball to focus. We only see the beam beyond the focal point.
Like with some flames: they appear to manifest a short distance away from (and unconnected to) their source
One thought, though: if the PPO really does need time to charge up, that would make Syd less of a frontline blaster and more of support artillery.
King Kamehameha is credited with inventing surfing in Hawaiian legend.
…No. Just no. Surfing was observed and popular throughout Polynesia long before King Kamehameha I. However, it became popular in the outside world when people started to see it in Hawaii.
He did say it was a legend…
Yeah, everyone knows surfing was invented by Young Einstein, the Tasmanian scientist who managed to split the beer atom with a hammer and chisel >.>
That’s what they told us haoles back in the ’60s when I lived there.
Seems like you learned a little something extra about local customs :)
They don’t say that anymore. Surfing was just kind of…there when we found it. I remember there was some sort of legend, but it had nothing to do with Kamehameha. Maybe the story I’m thinking of was about the invention of fins? I’m not sure. They still call us haoles though.
Dave, did Sydney realize something specific in the second-to-last panel that allowed her to get the orb to work, or did it just decide to start working? Or will that be made clearer later?
Yeah, she realized “Kamehameha” has a “HA” at the end.
Good question. :)
I’m leaning towards “not even scratched” for the tank’s status after this. She obviously doesn’t know what she’s doing with it, and probably turned it on on minimum power, or something :P
If that’s minimum power…
Size and brightness of the beam don’t necessarily mean it’s powerful, Dave might just be setting us up for a joke when the big flashy beam ends up fizzling before it reaches the tank.
That is my expectation as well.
Actually I guess is that her not knowing how it works means she used full power
or it went into “OVERCHARGE!!!!!”
Where is the Pew! Pew!?. I see a Skeeeen! So the Pew! Pew! is after?
No, ‘PewPew” is simply what Sydney nicknamed it, she might be changing the name after this demonstration though :D
to what? the TPK orb?
As long as the survivors don’t nickname it The Nagasaki we should be alright.
I think Dave is trying to do the rising tone sound effect of an electronic device like a camera flash powering up.
Regarding the invotive: Dabbles may have been going for the ‘double sass’ look, but combined with the quad-studded fork tongue and wink, comes across more like a ‘lovable ditz’ to me (like, she did something goofy and this is her reply to the reactions from others)
There is at least one (or two) other Spinnyverts who read this comic as well, just want to say, that with the change to Disquis there will no longer be any further comments from me over there (can’t even read the comments section now let alone reply :()
Not my prefered comment system, but it’s better than nothing.
Actually, for me, it is nothing: because for me, it’s as though there is no comment section at all
The built in one I’m using here is pretty primitive for the number of comments that we get. I’d love to explore other options but I’m terrified of doing something that messes up the existing ones.
If it ain’t broke, don’t ‘fix’ it. :)
Indeed.
Need to be sure that any change or upgrade is a genuine improvement, and not just making thngs more complicated.
Agreed: that’s how Spinnerette got ‘broken’ (if you plan on any sort of changes, no matter how small, make sure you have at least one backup copy of the current functional/working system stored somewhere safely off site)
Yeah, look at The Duck webcomics, formally Drunk Duck webcomics. They tried to upgrade their system and it crashed for over a month!
Was wondering why could never get Simply Sarah to load
Another example to be found with the HERO Games Forum. Used to be a great place. Unfortunately, they “upgraded” to an ‘improved’ software version some months back. Users lost most of their options (a few of which have been reintroduced piecemeal since), plus moderators enforcing a “VE VILL HAFF NO COMPLAINTS HERE” policy about the whole deal. The place has pretty much died since, or so it seems. Sad.
Kalani Paiʻea Wohi o Kaleikini Kealiʻikui Kamehameha o ʻIolani i Kaiwikapu kauʻi Ka Liholiho Kūnuiākea
Now that’s a name webmasters would love when it comes to forms 103 characters, lots of weird characters. :D
Translation please?
King Kamehameha.
When they say you shouldn’t use your name, or variation of, for your password, I think he’ll get a pass….
The letter K occurs too often.
Nice visual effect for the energy beam Dave.
I agree. Great art work as always.
Gets us speculating on how the beam is created as well.
Personally I would have gone the Lina Inverse Dragon Slave route, but that’s just me.
I was hoping for a “Dragon Slave” myself. The one chosen works perfectly fine though. Nanoha and her bizarre passive that ignores incantations might also have been a good choice, though then you have to decide between “Divine Buster” and “Starlight Breaker” both of which seem to have a similar triggering mechanism with startling similarities to the “Pew Pew Orb”. .
Can’t really fault her for it. We’ve all tried to do it at one point.
No, just no.
Don’t lie, Alvin. We know you’ve tried to fire a Kamehameha wave ^3^
You wish.
Oh, c’mon, I know I’m not alone! Anyone else? Eh? Back me up on this?
…
I’m sure if nobody replies it’s just because nobody is checking the previous comments ^_^;
YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE!
alright i admit it. i too, when i was younger, actually tried to fire a kamehameha or a hadouken…. only move air tough :p
All I hear from that blast is the bweeeeee bwraaaaaaaaaaaaa! Noise the reapers from mass effect make when they fire their main energy weapon
Master Roushi was basically considered immortal at the beginning of the series (as in Dragon Ball) and named his the technique after the Hawaiian king because he was rumored that he had lived long enough have met him.
Approved by Krillin
Just a thought, can she keep it active to cut a sweep of destruction ?
or is this a pulse or single fire weapon ?
Let’s hope, for the media and none-Achilles in the area, that it is the second
I find it interesting that there appears to be a mental component requiring her to finish her attack name to activate the blast. That final “push” from the brain that says (shoot).
With a weapon of this power, wouldn’t you want a safety in place?
would rather have 3, DNA, Bio-magnetic, and mental
looks like a weak shot in comparison.
I was hopeing for a more than that.
With luck this is the prefire warming up effect.
M.I.B. Noisey cricket. Could be along them lines, More powerful than it looks ?
