Grrl Power #1165 – Rawr?
I accidentally drew Max about 135% too flirty in that last panel. She is starting to enjoy herself, (partially because she has put away a suspicious amount of alcohol) but she’s not at the “Hello, there Sailor” stage yet. It’s possible she’s never been at that stage with anyone. Beyond some teenage crushes. I mean as an adult. I’ll blame the over enthused art gaffe on the fact that she kind of doesn’t know what she’s doing.
Max is hereditarily mostly German, French and “Scandinavian.” Being Irish and Russian as Harper is her excuse for having an iron constitution. (I looked it up, and Russia and Ireland are 5th and 6th respectively in terms of pure alcohol consumed per capita. Belarus, Lithuania and Grenada hold the top three spots, with Czech Republic and France tied for 4th. But they’re not famous for overdoing it on the booze, so citing them wouldn’t make for a good excuse for Max to rattle off. For reference, the US is 25th, probably because of our watery beer, wine coolers and shit like Zima. I also just yesterday saw “Hard Monster Energy” in the grocery store with 6% malt alcohol in it and no caffeine. Honestly, what is the point of that? Whereas in Russia they’re knocking back 80 proof vodka for lunch.) Besides, Max’s time in Afghanistan taught her just enough Russian to get her into trouble. She couldn’t order a watercress sandwich or infiltrate a ring of ballet dancing assassins, but she can toast, order drinks, and insult someone’s lineage well enough.
Hey, the header’s back, sort of! It’s been so long since I messed with .CSS and .php I’m surprised I got this far into restoring it. I knew it would either take me 15 minutes or 5 days to fix it. I can’t figure out how to put the pale blue background under it and attach it to the top of the page like it used to be, but I guess it doesn’t look horrible as it is now, so I decided to leave it up as I work with it.
The June vote incentive is finally up! Maxima is prepping for her night out.
And in the Patreon variants, she gets (un)dressed and takes a look through all the makeup options.

Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.
Okay, which one of you actually went and got this haircut from the restaurant battle kickoff?
Don’t surprise me any, I remember seeing a pic from a fashion show where one of the models that had beautiful long brunette hair, color it pink and had it shaped like a large snake was coiled up and striking at anyone behind her (shuddering….). Not a rubber snake, it was all shaped hair! It was well done but jeesh! No taste….
It was Kevin.
Well, just like usual I normally decide to read the new comic before I look at a new vote incen–Ooooo! Shiny!
Today I was delayed a bit at reading…
I just keep thinking about Niven’s “Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex.”
Reversed, of course. Hopefully, Maxie has enough self control to avoid a “Death by Snu Snu” situation.
just finished reading this all over 4 days and oh my god i dont think i have ever related to a comic as much as this or nearly peed myself so freqently in that amount of time EVER. the art has gotten so much better over the years of this comics release and the story is kinda outstanding for being a slise of life, super hero, teen/mature comic that i honestly just couldn’t stop reading till my eyes stoped working the last three nights.
Welcome to Team Waiting For Update,
Welcome! Glad you’re enjoying the show!
Stay a while! Stay forever!
“For reference, the US is 25th, probably because of our watery beer, wine coolers and shit like Zima.”
Also a profusion of religious people that seem to feel forbearing a quiet drink is somehow a path to divinity. Not a Dionysian in the lot of them.
“Average Russian consumes too much alcohol” factoid actually statistical error. Average Russian consumes average amount of alcohol. Shots Georg, who drinks 150 gallons of vodka per day, is an outlier and should not have been counted
Only reason that got started was because there were riots at their food stores due to the shortages, a reporter commented that it included vodka and it stuck. This was in the USSR era, before the wall fell. Mid-late 80s. That and their government liked the fact that people who drink, don’t get mad enough to riot/rebel.
Wait, I don’t remember there being question about the ‘stache…
A wild Retcon appears! It uses Narrative Link, it’s highly effective!
Dave, since you mentioned the site CSS, I couldn’t help but go poking around at the page source since I’ve been known to dabble in WordPress theme design every once in a while. Only thing I can figure after comparing the current page to an archived pull from the internet wayback machine is that the script that generates the header isn’t appearing within the header tag, but is instead sitting in its own div above the page wrap. If you can get that script to generate within the header tag, it’ll pull the light blue header background back up where it needs to be. (Confirmed by going into the Chrome inspect window, cutting div “sidebar-above-header” and pasting it within the header tag).
When the team does have to go undercover to infiltrate that ring of ballet dancing assassins, I trust we’ll spend more time on it than languishing in this bar. All this forced mundanity is really making me wish we could move along.
This chapter is so exciting. I would like to read your chapters. I hope that you can release more. Your illustration and graphics are good.
When comparing the current page to a cached version from the internet wayback machine, I’ve come to the conclusion that the script responsible for generating the header isn’t being shown inside the header element, but rather in a separate div above the page wrap. If such code can be generated within the header tag, the header’s intended light blue background will be restored.
Someone like me always researches the work first before officially taking the time to read it.
