Grrl Power #114 – Merchandising gives her the vapors
So the mosque affair shall remain as a noodle incident for now. Maybe I can save that for bonus material for the book. It seems like something that might run during the end credits of a movie.
Arianna’s obviously quite pleased with the Sydney development, but I think the marketer in her is making the PR Lady in her forget the hurdles of getting Syd to behave during a simple interview, and she may be overestimating her ability to temper Sydney’s behavior.
I almost have the Dabbler/Zintiel piece finished. The background isn’t coming out quite like I imagined it so it’s taking longer than I had hoped. Stone dungeon interiors isn’t a skill I’ve cultivated quite yet. But I do have something new for November in any case.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, Dabbler made a small cameo in Times Like This last week. I’m told she’s slated for another cameo in another comic in a week or so. Arianna obviously has been working overtime getting her guest spots. I’ll link it when it goes up.
Godzilla loves the “Chewy Carmel Center” (with added spice if Clint Eastwood is in the bite), but I prefer caramel…
They’ll have to hire on that news anchor and her crew then as well as Nobody else can play Diablo with the censor button like they can.
Hmm how Many other trainees are we talking about? And before and after Sydney’s done with em too.
So if “Collect them all” gives Arianna the vapors, what does the phrase “Catch them all” do for her?
If the phrase that gives her the vapors is any indication, I’m guessing she thinks the Pokemon catch phrase “Gotta catch them all” is soft porn.
Also not meaning to offend or break any posting rules I don’t know about with this comment. Just thought it was a funny thought.
No that’s all fine. She’s all a-flutter at good marketing slogans.
If you wished, there is room in that one speech balloon to change this:
“plus the three” (sweetest words…)
to become something that I, at least, think makes a bit more sense, partly because of that little blurb at the bottom-left of the comic (other sets of 3 words):
“plus three of the” (sweetest words…)
Hi David,
I’ve just discovered Grrl Power on Top Web Comics (I was reading Goblins and wondered where its vote button had gone). Well done to everyone who’s supported you with the vote button – I’m delighted to have found my way here.
I just wanted to offer my congratulations, I’ve not laughed so much at a comic since discovering PS238. Your writing is really top-notch.
I’d hit you up on Facebook or Twitter, but I use neither service. In lieu of that I hope my, only slightly sycophantic, comment-post will suffice. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot, I’m glad you enjoy it! Yeah these guys are crazy with the votes, I’m still blown away that the comic continually shows up in the top 10, given the size of the audiences of some other comics compared to this one. I’ll have to check out PS238, I hadn’t heard of it before.
Its this awesome comic about an elementry school for superheroes and attempts to add a more realistic take to the whole concept.
The artist apparently has a several year year head start on the comic, releasing it online slowly over the course of three a week while also selling print issues for what hes already written in order to tempt buyers.
Its amazing what full timers can pull off XD
I first read it as a graphic novel myself. Great series. If you do plan on reading it make sure you have a lot of spare time because it might take a few days to finish.
The good news is you just have to tap on the picture to go to the next page. Time saver!
…and now Adriana is secretly planning to make Sydney pregnant. For marketing reasons, so there is more stuff to collect!
That may go south like having people invest in gold using Maxima as a gold standard for advice, or Matt as a modern Bruce Lee, but that won’t stop Adriana… MUAHAHAHA!
Can you please explain this?
Always a good read. Can’t get enough of Sidney. Keep it up.
DaveB I must say that creating the character of Sydney was a stroke of genius. She will be the star of this show, even over the golden Amazon warrior. Sooner or later Sydney will explode, or say something outrageous and probably true. Keep her away from microphones! But it is good we can see her most of the time.
LOL, Mosque being the ‘noodle incident’. extra points to you if noodles really were involved! Calvin & Hobbes reference ftw!
that kind of noodle with the Sydney brand of spicing makes for a hot meal of a comic!
How about “new and improved”? And if 2 words are ok as in “no refunds”, then you can’t forget “limited availability” to go with limited time offer, and all the fad diet ones, “fat free”, “sugar free”, “low carbs”, and just for the heck of it throw in the 4 “all you can eat”. And the very most important one is but a single word. “free”. Free anything. Free t-shirt, free hat, free pen, free subscription, free chance to win, and it doesn’t even matter if anything is actually free, just to have the word free in it: buy one get one free, fat free and sugar free again, cruelty free, guilt free, etcetera etcetera etcetera.
“Super Smash Bros.”
Anybody that can make a journalist say “Thank you” for taking their interview subject away in the middle of an interview counts as a PR problem.
