Grrl Power #109 – Innate abuse
This is the last page we’ll see the ball room in for a while. It went on longer than I thought it would but I guess as long as it’s entertaining the background art isn’t really the important part of the page. It will be nice to finally break up this scene and not have to worry about where 10 people are positioned, though I guess Harem bugged off and X re-cloaked when Sandy came in, even though I didn’t actually show either of those events happen. I didn’t want to burn the page real estate on showing that stuff and both of them can come and go with little fanfare.
Of course now Sydney gets to meet a lot of other team members soon, so I’m putting myself in the position of drawing all new characters with all new backgrounds so that won’t be stressful at all.
I’ve decided that it’s more hassle than it’s worth to try and be creative with the rank insignias so I’m going to back and slowly fix all the ones in the art as I have time. Apparently there’s a tad more leeway with non-commission chevrons though. I may play around with those.
I’m wondering. Concerning rank and experience in the military, a new conscript in the superhero business can’t be considered military, yet they must when extraordinary events happen. So I’m thinking, like the military there is rank yet there is experience too. Chevrons on the arm show years in service, could something like that for sups show there level of competency? All sups would at most be taking orders from the on site situation commander, they may be simple police officer, or national guard, or nothing more then say a mining engineer who is telling them the hazards of , say going underground in a cave in. This would allow rank but only as a sup, tho it would kind of lock step them into obeying a commander, anything else would have to be learned as you go. This is an outstanding comic.
eh heh…. the General seems to have a thing for she hulk me thinks >3>
thats not she hulk XD thats one of the green dancer chicks from the original star trek, captain kirk had a thing for them too
Orion Slave Girl. Them being slaves was a picky point with the Federation. The Orions had to end slavery, at least officially, to gain Federation membership.
Supposedly it was the only way to control the lust of their women.
then of coarse it was reviled that the women actually ran there society thanks to there super pheramones and they sold themselves into slavery as a way to concur plants with riches
I wouldn’t exactly say that it was “reviled.” :)
I think he meant “revealed”
Also Orion isn’t in the Federation. They are in Federation space but their “slavery” business prohibits them full entry into the federation. There are however Orions that live on Federation worlds and even one girl in Starfleet in the Alternate Timeline. Orions by nature are pirates and the like and are shady folks, not the kind of “nice people” the federation will tolerate. Even the Andorians (one of the four founding species) had to drastically change it’s culture to fulfill the Federation Charter (which seems to really centre around earth morality not actually any sort on universal galaxy wide belief system)
Do tell, what exactly did Andorians have to change about their culture for Federation membership? This isn’t something we’ve seen actually DISCUSSED in the canon.
It comes up a bit in “Enterprise” seasons 3-4. They were very aggressive and war-like, getting into periodic wars with the Vulcan’s.
You kind of had to read “in-between” a bit with the show. There is the “series bible” that goes into more detail (that is canon), and a few of the books make references to that.
The General is a Trekie. I wonder if he cosplays at the conventions.
I can’t tell which one Peggy’s looking at: Dabbler, or tele-Sydney.
Probably Sydney. Likely she’s seen Dabbler do her thing before. Tele-Sydney? That’s new.
I think you’re right, actually. Her first shocked face she’s looking straight ahead, but the next panel her eyeballs are aimed a little more to her left. I guess she’s still in shock over the Orion slave girl reveal, but her eyes (not her mind) was drawn to the extra Sydney that appeared.
Too lazy to check all comments about this, and it’s an old page. Max’s mouth in panel 8 seems off a bit.
She’s biting her lower lip trying to hold back a laugh. It’s a little hard to see the detail as small as it is though.
It’s not just her biting her lip, It looks like she has a second mouth offset from the first.
Or at least that’s what I’m seeing. Though two mouths to yell at both normal and holo-sydney.
I don’t know if you’ll reply to this, or even SEE it, since this is quite an old page, but I need to ask, and hope I’ll get an answer. The woman that Dabbler turned into, isn’t that the one from TOS that Batgirl played? I’m sorry, fuzzy head, and it’s been a while since I’ve watch TOS. Sadly, I haven’t even watched any Star Trek recently, other than a couple of the movies. I need to fix that.
I don’t know about Batgirl ( I assume you mean the same actress) but yeah, she’s a Orion Slavegirl from TOS.
Yeah, I meant the same actress, sorry. The episode in question, without Google for specifics, had Kirk and Spock (maybe McCoy too, don’t remember) going to an asylum to visit a once-great Starfleet Admiral that went megalomaniacal, if I remember right, and she was one of the prisoners.
And since I think I’ve seen people make comments before, no, it sadly was not the Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls.
There was also one in the original Pilot “The Cage”
Looks like the General has a Gamorrea or She-Hulk fetish
Poor guy.
There I was thinking this is actually what Maxima looks like without the gold skin and purple hair…
I love how Sandy is holding her paper over her mouth. Hiding a grin, is she? :D
im just flicking through listening to eminem and i wondered;
would sydney like eminem’s salsa?
Yay, it’s Batgirl!
*replied because I forgot to activate alerts*
i love how maxima is reacting to the green woman glamor.
It seems that the General has a fondness for either She-Hulk or Gamora.
