Grrl Power #1065 – Knife to meet you!
Hey, +50XP for Arianna.
Tactically, this is a poor reaction. But the dude did try and burn her into ash, so… it’s hard to really blame her. She’s not a soldier, even if she goes jogging with them in the mornings. That said, her aim was pretty on point. She went for center mass, but the guy managed to spin out of the way. Also, he is wearing some fairly serious looking body armor, so she should have aimed at his face. She’s just not ready to stalk the streets at night, dispensing justice from the shadows.
By the way, Varia is still holding onto her leg below the frame there, which is why Arianna can hold on to the glowing embers of the doorframe without losing her skin.
As far as the flashbang guy in the background, we don’t know how well equipped the fodder soldiers are, but it’s a safe bet that any helmet that is “flashbang resistant” is less effective if said flashbang goes off six inches from your foot than from ten feet away. Mostly though, the guy is regretting not strapping on his back of the knee armor.
The July Vote Incentive is up! This is an unusual incentive because it started life as a panel from the comic. A few people thought it was a good pose to turn into a nude version, and I agreed. It was originally intended to be a stopgap pinup while I finished the one I’d started on for this month, but I got caught up in shiny skin and various bits of anatomy and alternate outfits so I’ll just leave this one as the July incentive. The advantage being that I have a head start on next month’s so… maybe it won’t be late?
Be sure to enjoy the alternate outfits and lack thereof over at Patreon.
Double res version will be posted over at Patreon. Feel free to contribute as much as you like.
Something just occurred to me…
Is there any chance that she and Math are RELATED?
Like, she doesn’t have an interest in competitive martial arts, and so hasn’t honed her innate proficiency the way he has, but she has that same talent that borders on the superhuman?
I feel like we should have seen that kind of relation brought up over the 1000+ pages we’ve seen. Then again, I think they’ve only been on the same page a dozen times at most.
Some interesting ADHD news:

Sorry that I have not been commenting much lately. Life getting in the way. Usually too tired to stay awake long enough to make any in-depth comments.
Piffle.
*pets*
You are Good Boy, Yorpie. You have nothing to apologize for.
*smiles and offers bellyrubs*
Yay
*rolls over, tail wagging*
For her to go for a knife and toss it with such skill (even if her opponent dodged and she tagged someone else instead) she’s obviously one of those ‘hidden depths’ characters that you spent all this time thinking they were just that non-powered lawyer/public relations expert the other characters had to deal with but suddenly now they’re demonstrating calmness under fire and prompt response with improvised weapons. Clearly she’s got training or something going for her beyond what we’ve seen and just hasn’t had reason to show it off until now.
I bet Suzy News and Arianna alternate date nights with self-defence classes. Obviously Arianna has the resources to arrange very good teachers.
After what happened because of the fight with Vehemence I could see her getting training if she didn’t have any already, she’d have to be a quick study to be that good in just a few months though.
Calmness under fire? Was that meant to be a pun? Did you not see the last two pages? She was anything other than ‘calm’
Are you suggesting that being Math’s sister is what drove her into a career in HR?
No, it drove her to drink
I’m a bit miffed that the vote incentive is a panel from a comic that we’ve already seen instead of a new sketch.
Yes, I know I’m not paying anything for the comic, and I am pleased it exists, and I am a big fan. In recognition I do all my amazon shopping through the affiliate button so Dave gets *something* from my reading.
My point is, the vote incentive is supposed to be something new, or something extra. Maybe the base panel we’ve already seen and then the most tame alt outfit, or the one it is implied we’d see in the thumbnail. I am disproportionately annoyed by the teaser thumbnail not being the image I am given after voting.
I’d be okay with it if the vote incentive was, say, the alternate outfit teased in the thumbnail. Or any of the alternate outfits, or you know *anything* new. I totally get what it’s like to be behind and taking the panel and alternate outfitting it as an emergency measure is completely reasonable, but make ONE of those alt outfits the base vote incentive. Also a better idea from a marketing standpoint, because something new is more likely to tempt one to shell out for the patreon than a panel from a past page that’s been seen before. “you get this for free, but the patreon also contains this… and better than this…”
Same about the click-bait teaser (commented on it on a previous page)
If we wanted the original image, we could have gone to that page and cropped the panel ourselves
Kind of agree actually. I get the need to put the larger carrots behind the Patreon paywall, but getting a high TWC rank to draw new readers depends a lot on existing readers voting consistently. I’m more than happy to get a PG bonus scene there, but was also expecting it to match the thumbnail.
the vote incentive thumbnail gives me inspiration…for something I can’t act on as I can’t draw worth anything. An image in my head of Maxima in a cat costume being held and petted by an Amoana (large aliens that keep humans as pets), as Maxima bats at a cat toy with her fists in the same manner as a kitty cat.
That guy can still talk? With a knife in the back of his knee? Seriously, I think the most he should be able to is scream like a little girl.
Fire dude is like ‘Why didn’t that work?’ in the first panel, LOL.
