Grrl Power #8 – The Filmer!
So that reporter in the last panel is apparently on loan from Bratz or something. Perhaps that is some insight on how Sydney sees other women.
The Filmer doesn’t seem nearly as ridiculous if you’ve ever read Empowered, as nearly everyone in that book is far more bizarre than him. I would recommend checking it out if you enjoy silly superhero books, and there’s a considerable amount of damsel in distress (and bondage) in it – and nothing was ever made worse with super heroine bondage.
He’s the Filmer! ^^
Some of the problems mentioned in the past few pages could be resolved with a fleet of camera drones. Flying Rescue Guy would therefor be doing stuff alone, while the producers can still get good footage of his efforts.
Well, that’s true but I remember reading this back around when this page was first posted and drones, while a thing, were not widespread and not something someone would think about right away. I think drones didn’t really become widespread till like 2014… so unless you were really into that side of flight experimentation they would not be the first thing to come to mind in this situation if you even knew about them at all…
Eh, I was going to comment how this page has aged poorly due to drones.
Is it wrong that I hear Adam West when I read “I AM THE FILMER!”? :D
like here?
Aw yeah, Empowered is great. This sounds like a fun webcomic.
I hear an exaggerated Arnold Schwarzenegger myself.
This reminds me of a PBF comic from a few years ago, called Super League poking fun at this issue from the other side.

In my mind he sounds like The Tick.
Duud. Right there with you. Just discovered this comic, and ROFL.
I hope someone dresses up as THE FILMER at the next ComicCon. He’d probably get arrested pretty quickly though, seeing as his catch phrase is to loudly shout about filming “anything from any angle”.
How ’bout the positioning of that clapper board? =(ò.õ)=
In all fairness, it seems that statistically, for every useful superpower there would be hundreds or even thousands of people with marginally useful abilities or one-trick ponies– the sort of people who would be useful for “behind the camera” work.
I read him in Batdad’s voice from south park.
Wait, why don’t they just attach camera to the super “3” *shrug*
They could just use a drone. A little remote controlled helicopter with a camera attached. One guy at the controls at the rescue place nearby. They’re not expensive anymore.
Emphasis on anymore. Micro-UAVs have come a long way since 2010, both in terms of capability and cost.
The Filmer: The most powerful of all heroes.
Mainly because anyone shameless enough to add it has probably done far worse.
I hear The Filmer’s voice as being similar to Randy Savage’s.
I’m hearing Arnold Schwarzenegger’s voice, myself.
Why not just have the hero wear a camera on his head, like a miner’s helmet with a camera instead of a light? It’d give it that gritty “reality” look.
Part of the problem then, never mind now, is that a good broadcast rig was bulky, along with the battery packs, memory packs, and decent quality video transmission were also bulky. Never mind that it’s now 18 years after this page was posted and the damn things still occasionally catch on fire, I lost half the f the drones I had over the years to battery fires.

Speaking of super heroine bondage. Go read Golden Age Wonder Woman comics.
Then [s]cum[/s] come back and curse me later.
drones.
Not realy a thing back then. Seriously given that time marches on, and we have had things like for example DNA tests come up, as one person pointed out, just one standard DNA test and most supers could be linked to every other super brawl destructo brawl since their first issue, and given that DNA has been used to crack 40 year old cold cases, that will be a thing. But back then DNA was the stuff of sci fi, and not even with mentioning back then in all but a few comics.

I actually discovered your comic over at Empowered! You were mentioned in highly positive terms (more than once) by fans over there.
The fact that drones don’t even get a mention shows how far we’ve come when filming this sort of thing. A lot of the Gold Rush type shows are now filmed with drones.
