Grrl Power #78 – Melodramatic Sydney is Melodramatic
So not a lot of plot movement on this page, or any really. I just needed something to space out the previous page and the next one, and this made me chuckle a few times. You’d think that if Sydney’s stomach was that insistent all the time she’d be a little heavier, but I’m sure no one would be surprised to learn that she has a blazing fast metabolism.
Oh and I also did an interview with the TGT Media podcast, basically a podcast about webcomics, mostly interviewing creators. Why yes, I do have crippling ADHD, why do you ask?
I can’t wait for the fight scene with the vending machine.
For some reason this comment made me laugh. It totally sounds like something Sydney would do!
Very Sydney-like for sure.
OMG, I LOVE Sidney’s character, I freaking actually LOL on most of these… Coming back to reread it for the 4 or 5th time… wish Sidney was more prominent later… don’t want to give spoilers…
her stomach was adventuring but then it took and arrow to the knee… wait i don’t think stomachs have knees. :P
In the knee.
IN.
looks like she has a Thor Thtomache. sorry sorry could help it.
Just finished reading through this comic from #1 to here. Great job! You really have Sydney’s personality nailed, that’s for sure. (You had me laughing so hard I was crying during the interview strip.) I’d like to say I’ll be checking this strip every week, but I prefer to wait a while between visits so I can get a better view of the story as a whole. (Particularly with sequential art strips like this.)
Anyway, keep up the good work – these comics are awesome.
Thanks! I know how it is with story comics, I sometimes prefer to read them in chunks, but it usually comes down to when I have time to get caught up.
Yeah, for the non-sequential comics I usually just subscribe to them by RSS so I don’t miss a single one. The ones I prefer to read in chunks though (like this), I bookmark and then rotate through them reading one chunk of comics a month. That way, by the time I finish reading through the last of my sequential comics there’s already several months worth of strips built up on the comic I looked at the least recently.
…yeah I like to be organized. ;)
Same story as Ajedi32, only problem is now I found another weekly strip……….so…..much….time
Yup, I have that issue too. So many comics to keep up with.
Too true, I like to see the webcomics I like and then if I have time look up a comic that looks intresting and then read it from begining to end. Something Positive took me a week. Laughed MY ass off.
Had people looking at me funny but it was worth it.
I only read two online comix, yours DaveB and El Goonish Shive. Both are funny as hell… wouldn’t it be funny if you had a Tedd in your comic?
Perverted, overenthusiastic mad scientist… would Dabbler qualify?
what I was saying Tedd likes to turn himself into a girl for kicks… wait that would be plain weird… no one could tell his gender
Saw this, thought of Sidney: https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/feb/16/chile-experts-trinidad-moruga-scorpion-hottest/
Just realized I spelled “Sydney” wrong.
“On the Scoville scale…”
I now understand.
Someday I will eat one of these. Then I will get into a fetal position and cry until my tear ducts come out, and I die a horrible death while screaming.
Perhaps when I’m terminally ill.
Wewt! Good to know I’m not the ONLY one to do battle with my stomach!
…Wait, Sydney is a comic book character…….
-_- Yep, I’ve still retained my position. TRANSCENDED INSANITY!!!
i wonder if i am the only one who notic that the,,, leaf,, on the apple logo switch side from square 4 to 5
Minor side effect of Sydney’s reality-warping powers.
Well if this is a weekly and simple math applies we have just…….um…….carry the 3……..times Pi R squared……….three da- no one day until the next one. Oh so many hours…..and AP world in between, it hurts.
so i actually an occasion where we were in the middle of an anatomy lecture and my stomach decided to cry for attention….and it got half the class. reactions ranged from confused to falling out of chair laughter.
*Looks at cast bar* Gwen…she’s cute. I’m assuming we meet her soon.
Your comic literally brings tears of joy to my eyes….
FUS RO DAH!!
and just in case you don’t know what FUS RO DAH is about:
https://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.351690-The-Skyrim-Meme-FUS-RO-DAH
food is important? I wonder if it haves to do with the ghostbusters tank on her back?….
I call from around here that her power has somthing to do with eating…..
This page literally made me laugh out loud, and I don’t even know who the last two characters are. I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far, though I guess i’ll have to stop and do homework soon.
Gawdz… so useless.
The progression is:
Chihuahua > Grizzly Bear > Gojira > Dovahkiin.
The 3rd is a rather famous Japanese retro film character that is bloody huge and frequently fights other giant monsters in Tokyo, causing massive amounts of property damage.
The 4th is the default appearance of the player character from Skyrim, which became hilarious because you can shout really bloody loudly at things to send them flying like rag-dolls. Understand? I mean seriously… the whole game is about dragons, shouting, and shouting at dragons.
Fus Rho Da? So all the accusations of Skyrim not letting you draw wasn’t unsubstantial.
I…just…and I do mean just…realized his hand in that very last panel is hovering in close proximity to the panic button. XD Brilliant! *applauds*
Is it just me or is Sydney more and more resembling Edward Elric?
She’s not as short as Edvard nor as irked when people may mention her height. So far no one has.
With all seriousness hot Cheetos are weak sauce and the little heat they do have vanishes if you leave the bag open.
I wonder if the title of this page is a nod to Cinema Sins…
I have Fus Ro Dah on Skyrim and the Perk that allows you to disintegrate enemies at low health when you use it. You get it from Hermaeus Mora in the Dragonborn Expansion Pack. That, or one of two others. In his personal world, Apocrypha, Realm of Forbidden Knowledge.
I kind of figured it was less of a metabolism thing and more of a hyperactivity thing. She certainly seems rather energetic and high strung.
I can honestly say that, when this page first came out, I thought those Cheetos were hot. Now I’m in agreement with Sydney. A lot can happen in four years.
At least it wasn’t YOL TAAR SHUL (Fire Breath)! That comes later…
Maybe she ate a dragon soul at some point.
just saw that guy about so sound the alarm
