Patreon is like Kickstarter for microtransactions - That is, giving ongoing support (the most delicious kind) to independent artists you enjoy.
Shopping through the Amazon link doesn't cost you anything extra and I get a small % of each sale for the referral.
The good ‘ol Paypal tip jar, good for hit and run donations.
I feel kind of retarded, but I don’t see the problem.
“I’m a LAWER and public…” but she’s not a laywer.
My first newsletter I published had a terrible typo, I corrected the hard copy with a Sharpie(TM) before I mailed them out. Later errors I just add corrections in the next issue.
Look at the bright side: this could actually increase the value of your first edition, especially if you sign them…
Just sayin’.
Honestly I’m surprised I haven’t had more spelling errors in the comic itself. I think only 2 so far. It’s not really my strong suit. Of course, fixing it in the comic doesn’t cost anything. :P
Just hope that dolo is right and don’t print these particular cards ever again. If your comic really takes off, then these could be collector’s items.
Heh I suppose that’s possible. There’s about 50 out there in the wild, the rest of the box is going in the trash when the corrected cards come in.
Hmm… gonna have to find your trash.
Well, I haven’t actually thrown them out yet. They’re just sitting there in a box in my game room.
Ouch.
Maybe you could print some stickers to put over the error? ^_^
They’re glossy. It’d be pretty obvious. $180 for a reprint isn’t… too bad, I’ll just have to put off buying those crazy speakers I’ve been eyeing for another month or two.
I spy an Obaki!
I linked to TMI in the comments a few pages back. Hope it helped get you some more readers!
Wait, did I link it or just mention it? Son of a donkey, I can’t remember.
Well I’ve added it to my RSS reader. Haven’t actually checked it out yet as I need some time to dig in to the archive. That’s true for like… 50 comics in my reader. :(
Heh. I don’t use RSS. I just keep a list of bookmarks and try to remember which ones update when. Got… 70, maybe 80 webcomics bookmarked. Top favourites include EGS, TMI, Grrl Power (of course), It’s Walky! (and related comics), Between Failures, Misfile Mindmistress and Fusion.
I just found Fusion, but man, what is up with DrunkDuck? It takes like 8 minutes to load a page. :(
Heh, yeah, that’s irritating. Also, Fusion is in a crossover with Mindmistress and a few others over at Crossoverkill.
Also also, X-Pletive is the most awesome superhero EVER.
Yeeesh! I only read 7 webcomics. Any more and I feel I’d be overwhelmed. hahaha
There’s so much more for me to do!
It could be worse. I mean, it’s an omission of a letter in a word that a lot of people misspell. I mean, it really could be worse. You could’ve had a grammatical error! Think on the nightmares of that!
I’ve show them to about a dozen people and no one has caught the error, still, it’s so unprofessional looking to anyone who would notice it.
could have been an inversion… Lamer …but that’s just wrong.
instead of throwing them out, offer them on the website for a nominal fee (+postage)
Even if it’s like.. 10c or something, you’d recoup your losses easily?
You don’t have a donations setup, do you? If you did, you could offer them as donations rewards. I bet that would get rid of quite a few, and get you some money, too.
Yeah I haven’t messed with donations yet. I wasn’t sure what sort of audience size would make a feature like that worthwhile, but I’ve already ordered the second batch (need them in time for A-kon) so if I do set up a donations button, maybe I’ll send out the corrected ones for donations over a certain amount. I’d rather not have the messed up ones in circulation.
Um, my copy of Photoshop does have spell check. (And it’s not a recent version…)
It must be a plug-in. I’ve been using Photoshop since version… 4 maybe (before that it was Deluxe Paint on the Amiga) and it’s never had a spellchecker. Now I need to go google it.
It might be that under OS X, Photoshop uses a standard text box to do the initial text input, and a standard text box has a spell check.
It doesn’t work once the text has been made into a part of the image into the image; only during initial input.
Hmm, that sounds familiar. I haven’t used a mac in a while though, maybe that’s how it is in much older versions of PShop.
If you’ve ever seen the movie “Three O’Clock High”, you’ll get where I’m going with this…
I’ll buy 10 misprints for $1.
It makes it unique.
Is it too late to point out that Maxima also has a typo? It should be “liquefy”, not “liquify”.
All that aside, great comic. Once again, I find myself wishing I was on the same side of the Atlantic so I could say so in person.
Both “liquefy” and “liquify” are correct.
Oh thank god, I’ve already placed the second order. From now on I’ll just say all spelling errors are actually the Scandinavian spelling or something.
It’s never a spelling error, it’s an alternative spelling chosen to show an accent or slip-of-the-tongue or the part of the speaker!
Thanks. At some point I’ll be attending conventions (and giving away limited edition postcards with misspellings hah hah) but it’ll probably be a while before I get to one in Europe.
^^^^this. Very much this. If you’re ever in europe, you’ll have at least two people buying you drinks.
Three, don’t forget me there :P
goes offs in a huffs because I don’ts has access to misspelled cardses
*chuckle*.. As “oh crap” moments go, this isn’t too bad.. at least it looks like an honest mistake. If you want to face the wrath of the Language Nazis, miss an apostrophe or something.
Do not throw the cards away though. You’ll be giving up marketing gold. A subtle flaw like this is enough to make people look at the card twice, remember it, and show it to their friends. Just put a sign next to them that says, “yeah yeah.. I know” and watch them disappear.
Don’t sweat it. I had to read through it five times before I spotted the glitch.
two words……COLLECTORS ITEMS!
you’d heard how stuff with errors in packaging are worth huge amounts to collectors. include them with stuff you sell or, even offer them for a buck at a con (you’d be suprised how many people will not care about a minor typo at a con, they see cheap arts for a comic)
side note: i read it several times and didn’t even notice the typo. Also digging the comic sofar
The Problem Was Two Things: 1. We Have Email Now Love,So Not Many People Want Postcards-Even Just To Simply Have. And 2. You Are Too Early Yet To Make Mruchindice Since Most Of The Hero’s Have Not Even Been Intraduced Yet (Inculding The Furry On The Postcard). I’ll Tell You The Same Thing I Told The Collar 6 Guy: If You Want Things To Sell You Should Sell Things That Are Spasific To The Comic (Ex: Collar 6 Brand Bondage Gear). Once All The Hero’s Are Intraduced You Should Try Haveing Things Like Cosplay (I’m SURE You Can Find Someone Who Can Sow…Almost ALL Cosplayers Can.XD) Of The Hero’s Like Maxima’s Army Uniform Or Harem’s Cloke (Or Whatever She’s Got On). That Way You Have Awsome-Girrl Power Olny Gear That People Will Just Eat Up Once Word Of The Comic Get’s Out (Take Note It Is Best To Advertise The Comic Around Cons FRIST Befor You Take The 2nd Shot At Selling-I Sugust Printing Out Random Pages Of It And Just Siting Them On A Booth So People Can Pick Up A Free Page And Read It To See If They Like It Or Not). Anyway That’s All..Love Ya-Kiss Kiss.~^
Well they’re not really postcards, they’re just postcard sized, and they’re not for sale, they’re just something with the website on it. I’ll just leave a stack of them on the freebie table at cons.
dont worry buddy, I’ve done the very same thing! heck, I’ve printed full books with mistakes and even had my friends look at it. sometimes… things just go wrong.
but I wouldn’t toss them out… I only saw the mistake cause I knew I was looking for it. I doubt most people would notice without knowing ahead of time. >)
I, for one, noticed “liquify” immediately (I didn’t actually know that spelling was correct), but didn’t notice “lawer” until I read the comments. Weird.
I got my (corrected) postcard at A-kon! Hope you get some more traffic because of those!
I only distributed an inch or two thick of postcards. No idea how many that is… maybe 100? But yeah that’s what they’re for. Hopefully a few new readers from them.
Look at the bright side … She could have been “… a lawyer and PUBIC relations …”
