September Vote Incentive
The vote incentive is finally updated and it should be pretty cool when it’s finished. I don’t normally use multi-colored penciling, but in this case I did to make it more obvious what I’m going for in the final picture. It was surprisingly hard to find a red chick to use. You’d think there’d be scads, and I’m sure there are a bunch I couldn’t think of. Same thing with orange. I very nearly used Ashoka from the clone wars, but at the last second I remembered Starfire is orange. I vastly prefer the Cartoon Network version of her to the battle bikini babe version she appears as in the comics, so I went with that. Dabbler and Maxima should be obvious, but I’ll let you guess at the rest of them for now. Green might be hard to guess until she’s colored since she’s all clammed up, and honestly she’s a little bit more to the yellow green side of the spectrum so She-Hulk may yet make an appearance. :) The final version will have proper attribution to their respective creators of course.
I do need some input on Indigo. I was planning on using a drow. I’ve seen them colored charcoal black, which is how they’re described in books, but that’s boring . Usually they’re dark brown, blue or purple, so I thought I could use one of them. The problem is I’m having trouble thinking of a famous one that’s also visually distinct. Everyone knows Lolth, but she looks different in every picture so she wouldn’t work. I don’t think they’d invite her anyway. I was thinking of using the generically named “Drow Ranger” from DOTA2, but really she’s a little generic looking too. Someone suggested Arachne from Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, but she’s more of a dark gray. I’m not married to the drow idea, but off the top of my head I can’t think of any other dark purply blue ladies, so feel free to suggest some.
Edit: The picture has been updated with inks and flats, I decided to go with Traxex after all in the “indigo” spot. Indigo in quotes cause if you ask 20 people what color indigo is you’ll get as many answers. If I had all the time in the world, I’d love to keep adding ladies to this picture to get a bunch of in-between colors. She-Hulk for a darker green, Ahsoka for a darker orange. Stupid not enough time havingness!

Just noticed, but Max should have tripped him the opposite direction probably. outside arm towards the outside, not outside arm to the inside (i.e. cross body). Non punching hand should have pushed out with the direction of her motion. Personally I’d think it would be flying -> tight circle to shift direction of momentum -> projectile max -> dump momentum into the foot and push out, and then plant feet + maybe fly stabilize / whatever to generate a massive punch in the opposing direction to the angular momentum she just imparted.
In this case it looks like she should be punching in the same direction of his angular momentum, best I can tell which means he should be spinning faster not slower after the punch… going to drastically reduce the pain on that hit, unless she’s going to then like kick his head while he’s upside down or something… can’t discount that it’s going to be a one two three rather than a one two combo.

Wrong comment section. I wanted to boo on Maxima’s fighting dirty. It could’ve been a pretty epic fight, but aside from that, I just didn’t find the whole shooting in the eye very savory.
On the other hand, maxima caught a bullet in her hands during the bank robbery, so though it’s fighting dirty, she didn’t do to him anything that would have actually worked on her/been a problem for her, demonstrating that he’s actually less powerful than her (and thus is it really playing dirty to do something to your opponent that wouldn’t be a threat to you yourself)? Or if not more powerful, at least slower? Nah. All it does really is just go to show that maxima is totally a mary sue, as if that wasn’t obvious enough already.

I have seen some RPG’s where it does not matter how strong you are, because it does not affect how much damage you do.

Ok, I see Stalwart down. And in the lineup I see Harem (one of her), Halo, Dabbler, Maxima, and Anvil. And I see another of Harem (white haired) wrapping up Vektor. Also know that Heatwave is out of commission offscreen at the infirmary, and Peggy is on a building probably outside of the overview in the last panel.
So…. where’s Math, Mr. Amorphous, Hiro, Achilles, and Jiggawatt? I’m assuming Achilles was tossed way offscreen as well, and maybe Jiggawatt is still out from Death Toll (refusing to use his full name because it’s stupid) – though I don’t see her unconscious body anywhere either.
Is Hiro down by where Breakpoint or whatever her name was had been attacking? Still no clue where Math or Mr Amorphous is at all, if Hiro’s the one down by where Breakpoint’s attack was.
Also sort of curious where the intelligence group is, since the restaurant is now rubble, though I’m assuming they’re nearby and just being cloaked by Gwen’s magic.
Not really curious where the other non-super ARC members are – I’m going to figure they’re also offscreen to take shots more safely, like Peggy did (though two of them were onscreen a minute earlier during the fight with Death Toll).

“Green” and “Violet” are Original Characters, Nalica (by Animeflux) and Monara (by DrGraveling) respectively, search at your own discretion (NSFW). “Red” is Kneesock from Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. “Indigo” is Traxex from DOTA2.
The one I’m drawing a blank on is “Blue”…I would’ve gone with Liara T’Soni for Blue if game characters are a thing. Much more recognizable IMO

long time reader finally getting off my butt to comment: something I noticed about the previous comics was that Sidney’s forcefield obviously blocks Vehemence’s agro-aura, and it’s been mentioned that it is airtight. sticking it around him and Maxima should cut off the friendly fire, and may lead to him passing out.
The down side is, of course, that it leaves her squishy and surrounded by revived villains.
Sydney has to be in the shield (as far as she’s discovered.)

I did not expect this.
I am enjoying being both completely right (in which I said Sydney would use her geek knowledge to beat V) and completely wrong (in assuming it would be just Sydney attacking) in how V is being stopped. The fact that Halo has made a plan involving multiple other people (and more trained to work together people) shows an impressive level of forethought & attention to other power details. How Sydney’s ADD works to her benefit is also a really impressive use of what is normally considered a disability / illness.

It’s the curse of the creative types, you can’t help but be your own biggest critic usually. Fortunately, self criticism applied correctly can lead to improvement. I’m not flogging myself for my failings, just looking for ways to be better the next time.

Hmm, surprised at the choice for indigo, even with searching online I never heard of Traxex before.
I’d have thought the Hindu Goddess Kali would have been the obvious solution. She can be represented in any color from light blue to black to purple, etc.
Or Sarah Kerrigan, there’s lots of art of her in dark purple.
