September Vote Incentive
The vote incentive is finally updated and it should be pretty cool when it’s finished. I don’t normally use multi-colored penciling, but in this case I did to make it more obvious what I’m going for in the final picture. It was surprisingly hard to find a red chick to use. You’d think there’d be scads, and I’m sure there are a bunch I couldn’t think of. Same thing with orange. I very nearly used Ashoka from the clone wars, but at the last second I remembered Starfire is orange. I vastly prefer the Cartoon Network version of her to the battle bikini babe version she appears as in the comics, so I went with that. Dabbler and Maxima should be obvious, but I’ll let you guess at the rest of them for now. Green might be hard to guess until she’s colored since she’s all clammed up, and honestly she’s a little bit more to the yellow green side of the spectrum so She-Hulk may yet make an appearance. :) The final version will have proper attribution to their respective creators of course.
I do need some input on Indigo. I was planning on using a drow. I’ve seen them colored charcoal black, which is how they’re described in books, but that’s boring . Usually they’re dark brown, blue or purple, so I thought I could use one of them. The problem is I’m having trouble thinking of a famous one that’s also visually distinct. Everyone knows Lolth, but she looks different in every picture so she wouldn’t work. I don’t think they’d invite her anyway. I was thinking of using the generically named “Drow Ranger” from DOTA2, but really she’s a little generic looking too. Someone suggested Arachne from Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, but she’s more of a dark gray. I’m not married to the drow idea, but off the top of my head I can’t think of any other dark purply blue ladies, so feel free to suggest some.
Edit: The picture has been updated with inks and flats, I decided to go with Traxex after all in the “indigo” spot. Indigo in quotes cause if you ask 20 people what color indigo is you’ll get as many answers. If I had all the time in the world, I’d love to keep adding ladies to this picture to get a bunch of in-between colors. She-Hulk for a darker green, Ahsoka for a darker orange. Stupid not enough time havingness!

Heh, that’s nothing, been slogging through “Mansion of E” and “Legostar Galactica” the last couple weeks (and those have been daily for about 10 years o_O)
One feature of Mansion of E, that I love, is that if you have not seen a character for a while, the author kindly puts in a link to their first and/or last appearance. Likewise if one of the many odd phenomenons is mentioned. And, if it is from one of the arcs you might be a bit rusty on, you find yourself re-reading it.
An hour or two later, you realise you have been sucked into an archive trawl! Unlike being dragged into something similar on Wikipedia or YouTube, that is actually a rewarding experience.
The fact that it updates daily means that it is one of the select few comics that I check in on religiously. Even other good ones can drop out of the rotation once in a while, even if I will catch up with them sooner or later. But that one is engrossing enough and ever-present, so keeps the interest, even when real life is causing severe distractions.

Raven wears blue, almost all the time. I think technically she is just pale-skinned but her eyes and hair are violet though.
Raven’s eyes are violet, until she gets violent, in which case they double or triple up, (depending on her level of violence) and go red.
Well, if you are looking for a proper indigo she-beast, there’s always Viconia DeVir, recruitable NPC/love interest of Baldur’s Gate fame (https://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Viconia_DeVir). Not much visual reference to go on, tho. There’s only the two official portraits from the games, where the one from BG2 is IMHO preferable.
Evelyn, Lissandra, Lulu, Morgana, Shyvana, Soraka and Tristana. All from league of legends. I’m colour blind so cut me some slack if they aren’t the correct colour, But they appear to me to be correct. And if you want famous, I don’t think you can go wrong with League of Legends.

The non-generic undead elf that DotA copied would be Sylvanas Windrunner, but she’s mostly a pale blue. I guess WoW Night Elves would be too much on the purple side, same with Kerrigan.
Seems to me the colour circle is somewhat imbalanced, though, I mean there’s three shades of purple before blue, but only a single green one between blue and yellow. There’s eight people in the shot, while most colour wheels have seven or six spokes, and the missing person has to fit on the side of the color wheel that is already crowded. Using Newton’s color wheel, we get, from left to right:

At first I thought the girl with both hands on her drink is Sydney, but on after a second look, she clearly is someone else. I recognized the big girl in the middle, but can’t place her. She reminds me of Savage Dragon, but clearly female, but I think I saw her somewhere else. I caught Starfire from the 2003-2006 TV series “Teen Titans” right away.

They’re all brown or gray as far as I see. That’s the problem with drow is everyone colors them differently. The thing is there’s plenty of indigo girls if you know where to look on Deviant Art, but none of them really have enough notoriety for the picture. Some of them don’t even have names as far as I know, they’re just, “here’s a dark blue girl I drew”

No I was not. I wasn’t even aware that Dynotaku was a thing until you pointed it out. Just that the Dabbler I first knew was a female Boba Fett if Fett had actually lived up to the hype. Thanks, I’m going to have to check out Dynotaku next.

One of my classes said that “indigo” is not a real color and the people who named the colors of the rainbow just liked the number 7.

There are seven colors to the rainbow by tradition. Seven being a mystic number of perfection. And Isaac Newton being of mystical bent made it official science in Optiks, his book on the subject. Blame him for indigo.

dammit i really want to remember the blue mohawk lady. she’s not from any game or even a female version of Savage Dragon. its from a pretty old and obscure webcomic about her, a guy in a super tricked out RV and some goat girl (i think it was goat). goat girl is from another world but part of it got pulled into earth. i don’t remember much about it anymore or what the comic is called but used to read it years ago.
Polymer City. Sheep girl was originally introed as a cat but I found the Sheeple much more entertaining. Just wish the comic didn’t end mid climax.
Maya the Siren from Borderlands 2. Has blue hair and i think almost a blueish tinge to her skin, but since all borderlands characters are customizable, you could draw her and shade her skin any color you like and she’d still be recognizable to any gamer.
Delve (webcomic) is full of different kind of elves. Some blue some purple, not sure if it’s the shade you’re looking for or not.

I continue to be amused that the Cartoon Network Teen Titans seem to be more popular than the comic book. Raven and Starfire in particular – CN Raven is awesome, and CN Starfire is cool (as opposed to the alien stripper in the comics, and perhaps brainless bimbo in the ‘New 52’).
I am not a huge League of Legends player, but my vote for indigo would be Soraka. Yeah, she’s almost exactly Dabbler’s shade. The problem with Indigo is that people think of it as dark blue, when it’s closer to a dark violet. I mean it’s right next to ultraviolet on the spectrum so it’d have to be.

White is the lack of color, i.e. all colors being reflected. BLACK is all color, i.e. every color in the spectrum being absorbed.
Catwoman wore mostly purple costumes for years. Sailor Saturn has a purple/violet theme. Yuri from Dirty Pair Flash has purple hair. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
Yeah, always prefered the purple outfit, even the original outfit is miles better than the black hooker/biker look they now have her in (she is still a top DC character for me though)

Honestly, you could use Dabbler for indigo, if you got someone with lighter, pinkish-purple skin for purple. Like Tyrande Whisperwind, Maki from Soul Calibur, or Twilight Sparkle.

Psylocke? She is usually blue, black or purple. Easy enough to color her indigo and have her recognizable.

If you were considering DOTA2, you could also consider a famous Night Elf from World of Warcraft. I honestly can’t remember off the top of my head, but some of them are a fairly dark purplish blue.
Going from Warcraft III, there are three named Night Elf women: Tyrande, Shandris and Maiev.
Maiev is the bluest of the three, but her skin color is very difficult to see with her full-face helmet and the huge green cloak.

Polymer City Chronicles was a webcomic that featured a giant musclely blue alien woman with a white mohawk. Amongst other things. It was very good — great art, good humor, interesting world-building.
Though it had some troubles. It started out as a gag-a-day format, then attempted a story, stopped midway through and went back to gags, then tried a different storyline one more time before the author called it quits. But it was great while it lasted.
Just to throw her in, since I haven’t seen her mentioned among the suggestions, how about Syx from ManaWorld? I’m pretty sure Scratch would give permission…
