Grrl Power #772 – Apologyamorie
Sydney is actually pretty used to apologizing. As many of you may have figured out, she’s an act first and think second sort of gal. (When she thinks at all.) It’s no wonder she’s a single child. Her parents couldn’t risk her gaining an accomplice.
It’s has been like three whole days (from her perspective) since Harem has popped in right next to her. She has to re-readjust to that.
I’m not actually sure how Sydney fell over. She was leaning against the counter. She stepped forward a bit just before Harem arrived, but she didn’t have much room behind her. I guess she slid sideways along it till she reached a point of no return and went down.

Are the dimensions off? Or is Harem rocking some 6″ or more platforms? She looks taller by a bit. Not just like the positioning, she just looks “too” tall. She looks kinda off in general in that shot. Maybe it’s just how shes drawn and colored at an angle.
Ahh, I see it now. Leon is still sitting when she ported in. Still looks a bit off but that seems to clear it up slightly lol.
Leon is 6’4″, so the best way to frame them in a panel while leaving room for the word balloons is to have him sitting of her flying.
Leon’s only 2 inches shorter than David Prowse. He could totally cosplay Vader.

I’m starting to wonder how much Sydney actually thought through on this ‘shared dating’ thing. Probably not at all since she hoped to date Leon exclusively but then tried to settle for being his second girlfriend, most likely inspired by the stay on Cora’s ship and the loosely dating crew-members on it.
My point is, it sounds like she wants to date Leon without having to deal with Krona, setting up some kind of schedule where he is with one or the other of them at a time. But if she really wants this to work she does have to deal with Krona as well, they don’t necessarily need to try to romantically date and court each other, but being close friends is needed for a positive long term outcome.
I just realized, she should ask Olivia and Tony how their parents made it work. It is a different situation because kids and twins, but it is still a … throuple (?) where the man is dating both women but the women aren’t dating each other.
Polyamory is often more complicated than that, in fact usually you want to be interacting with one another on positive terms when you share a partner. I don’t expect Sydney to understand that because she’s pretty innocent and naïve overall.
Also, not to be confused with polyarmory, which is a base for militant parrots.

The fact they are sharing the same house (including Granny), kinda implies they managed to get it to work on some level
I get the impression that ‘Granny’ may actually be the main factor making it work. “You knock up both my daughters in one night? Congratulations and all that, but you will be sticking around to follow through on your commitments. And girls, you will go on as you’ve started when it comes to sharing.”
I assume she’s bas her approach off of anime harem tropes.
Harem is just damn lucky Sydney already did a hard reset on her startle reflex, otherwise she would be getting another bonus result!

I just realized…. Sydney’s parents were not at her ‘welcome home’ party. I’d have thought Archon would have invited them, considering their daughter was lost in outer space and they probably had no idea if they’d ever see her again.
Honestly I just want to see Sydney’s parents. Sydney clearly takes after her father with being flighty and into heroism, and her mother seems to be the more responsible, down to earth one. Judging from the ONE phone call we’ve heard half of, back in the restaurant from one or two panels.
Maybe they were, and you just didn’t see them…
Well…. they werent in the room when she came in, and we didn’t see any family reunion thing, so I’m making an educated guess in keeping with the etiquette of the internet, known as ‘Pics or it didn’t happen’ :)

We know almost nothing about Sidney’s family other than she has them otherwise she way over reacted when she realized she hadn’t told them she was a superhero before the press conference that outed her. But other than that she might be estranged or perhaps some other odd thing that keeps them apart — like she loves them but is allergic to them so can’t be in the same room as them.
We know a LITTLE from those two panels. And one of which is they are NOT estranged. They worry about her, know about her financial problems with the comic book shop, and she takes after her father, and she did not tell them because of the same reason she didnt tell her partner/friend in the comic book store. She didn’t want them to get in trouble or have to lie to federal authorities for her if it was discovered.
She also did say she’d see them soon and it wouldnt be as much trouble now since she could fly now. So they probably live far away. But still…. Archon could have flown them out, one would assume :).

Perhaps after careful consideration Sydney plans to wait until Cora ships off before the family reunion.

We’re going to meet Sydney’s parents when some overachieving villain tries to kidnap them and her mom nearly kills them with ghost pepper seasoning.
i love this web comic. sydney is definitely the star of it. when she showed compassion for those refugees was great.

Has Sydney visited her parents yet? Because that should have been day 3 or 4.
Her mother must be worried sick, her father is busy pretending to brood over his daughter being “lost in time” or telling dad jokes like “at least she is lost in the time stream and not hanging out with boys”.
Or one of her parents had a medical event, and the Arc Swat team is trying to keep her too busy to notice until said parent is recovered given what Sydney has been through.
We haven’t seen her call her parents since the bank incident.
I would have thought Maxima or The General would have kept her parents informed during her absence.
I have to assume Sydney phoned her parents as soon as she returned to Earth, we just didn’t get to see it.
Assuming anything with Sydney seldom turns out well.
Sorry but Sydney should let go and give Leon/Krona their space.
This whole sideplot makes her look like an “all about me” bitch to me.
