September Vote Incentive
The vote incentive is finally updated and it should be pretty cool when it’s finished. I don’t normally use multi-colored penciling, but in this case I did to make it more obvious what I’m going for in the final picture. It was surprisingly hard to find a red chick to use. You’d think there’d be scads, and I’m sure there are a bunch I couldn’t think of. Same thing with orange. I very nearly used Ashoka from the clone wars, but at the last second I remembered Starfire is orange. I vastly prefer the Cartoon Network version of her to the battle bikini babe version she appears as in the comics, so I went with that. Dabbler and Maxima should be obvious, but I’ll let you guess at the rest of them for now. Green might be hard to guess until she’s colored since she’s all clammed up, and honestly she’s a little bit more to the yellow green side of the spectrum so She-Hulk may yet make an appearance. :) The final version will have proper attribution to their respective creators of course.
I do need some input on Indigo. I was planning on using a drow. I’ve seen them colored charcoal black, which is how they’re described in books, but that’s boring . Usually they’re dark brown, blue or purple, so I thought I could use one of them. The problem is I’m having trouble thinking of a famous one that’s also visually distinct. Everyone knows Lolth, but she looks different in every picture so she wouldn’t work. I don’t think they’d invite her anyway. I was thinking of using the generically named “Drow Ranger” from DOTA2, but really she’s a little generic looking too. Someone suggested Arachne from Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, but she’s more of a dark gray. I’m not married to the drow idea, but off the top of my head I can’t think of any other dark purply blue ladies, so feel free to suggest some.
Edit: The picture has been updated with inks and flats, I decided to go with Traxex after all in the “indigo” spot. Indigo in quotes cause if you ask 20 people what color indigo is you’ll get as many answers. If I had all the time in the world, I’d love to keep adding ladies to this picture to get a bunch of in-between colors. She-Hulk for a darker green, Ahsoka for a darker orange. Stupid not enough time havingness!
Indigo.
Um, I think there was a super-heroine named Indigo awhile back, possibly part of the WildCats.
Other than that, you may want to check out ManaWorld.
For purple people.
Are there also purple people eaters there too?
extra ouch for her halo orbs she landed on as they moved down with her
Now I’m picturing some muckraking journalist taking pictures of Sydney’s bathroom through the window, and tomorrow’s headline reading “Halo pregnant with Dabblers alien love-child?”
Sad, but it is America, so I guess that could happen.
If it turned out to be a British paparazzi who did it mind, then he could face extradition to the U.K., for trial under the laws of England and Wales. He would spend some time behind bars for that.
I have played a drow before, and I think I gave him distinct qualities. He was part shadow elemental, (long story) so I thought about physical qualities to him. I based his qualities after smoke, shadows, and mirrors. He had the pitch black skin yes, but he left behind plumes of smoke in his wake, his eyes were mirrors and his magic attacks were swirls of black and silver with slight purple light. Just what I did.
Very nice imagery.
I had a mage, who’s forte was shadows. Eventually he ended up with more custom, shadow, spells than regular ones. Every single one properly written up, researched and approved. And none of them just re-workings of similar spells, by a different name.
His identity and self-image was that of a shadow, and he behaved like that accordingly. Shaping his spells like wisps and flickers, concealing, and ever-changing, with the light. His playground was the places of transition, where the battlefield changes, depending on who is watching, and how they are viewing it.
Thanks.
I concerned myself with the FX of the spells more than rewriting spells. Mainly because I found perfectly good spells featuring illusions, misdirection, and charm. I became the team’s “strategic” trickster. Changing the battlefield and forcing enemies to attack each other so the team can mop them up easier.
I was kind of making fun of typical drow elves. Especially how players portray them. He tried to be the hero and saw himself as good, every bit as much as Drizzt. Meanwhile, he was petty, arrogant, flighty, misogynistic, and racist. (After clearing the last two with the other players.) But often did the right thing, after the entertainment factor of everything else. Essentially as close to good as someone that doesn’t know how can.
FAA Regs
14 CFR §1.1 General definitions.
As used in Subchapters A through K of this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:
…
Aircraft means a device that is used or intended to be used for flight in the air.
…
14 CFR §91.111 Operating near other aircraft.
(a) No person may operate an aircraft so close to another aircraft as to create a collision hazard.
(b) No person may operate an aircraft in formation flight except by arrangement with the pilot in command of each aircraft in the formation.
(c) No person may operate an aircraft, carrying passengers for hire, in formation flight.
So Maxima would possibly get a pass as her flight appears intrinsic, but Sydney may be in violation if her flight orb is ruled a device, which is somewhat problematic given that no-one but her uses it (can use it) and since it was not manufactured by any known entity for any spelled-out purpose it may not qualify as a “device” using dictionary-fu.
IANA(super-hero-universe)L but I see lectures, training and a lot of government types in suits going “Harrumph”
You wanna talk flat, Dave. 68.8 square miles and a natural elevation range of 0-19 ft and 3 building taller than 2 stories (3, 4, & 7 stories each) Though to be fair we’re adjacent to a city that’s about 4/7ths our area is up to a foot higher and has several buildings between 3 & 17 stories and a city that’s 1/7th our area, 19-30 fit high & 5 buildings taller than 3 story tallest of which are 4 stories.
To be honest, that sounds like a bit of a tall storey to me.
