June 2014 Vote Incentive
The June incentive is posted. As usual after A-kon I have a commissioned piece. This one is from Fred Perry of Gold Digger fame, most of you guys know him here. It’s a pose I had been trying to draw but for some reason the slight hunch was throwing me off. So here we see Sydney cleaning her room. And as everyone who collects comics knows, that means spending hours re-reading all your comics before you put them away.
Damn that’s kinda sexy.
WTB colored version!
With the subtle smile on her face, I am thinking that is not The List.
Might be the other side.
I have a problem. I cannot get rid of a book or comic without major effort. Just re-reading them before I can them ends up with “I forgot how good that was” and back into the storage box. Ebooks are helping. But comics still need to be on paper. I’m going to have a funeral pyre topped with paperbacks and comics. The EPA may freak out, but global warming be damned, I’m gonna have one last hot time with my friends.
Getting the collected graphic-novel version helps, at least makes storage/display/accessability a little easier (instead of sealing them into plastic bags and then into a box, you can put them into bookcases)
But yeah, having a similar trouble: even though got the collected editions of the Marvel Zombie series, and one of the X-Force arcs, just can’t get rid of the original comics
Nice! Fred Perry is the MAN! Now i know why I’ve been getting sort of a GD feel from your comic. Anyway keep up the good work.
Love the picture. I can see why he is so influential to you DaveB. He obviously knows his stuff.
Not being familiar with his work (although I know of him by name, as he does crop up a lot), the thing that intrigues me is how well he has captured the feel of both your style and Sydney’s look. Making me wonder how much of that is because he was so influential on your work? Versus him being able to pick up the key points (like the see-through-eyes and hair) and mimic them faithfully?
My style is definitely influenced by him. It’s a wonder I don’t draw more like him actually, but I guess earlier influences like American comics and Ben Dunn, Joji Manabe, Masamune Shirow and Adam Warren are hard to shake.
DaveB can we get a rogue’s gallery -i.e. a post arrest group line up shot of the males and females separately post arrest or mid processing for a voting incentive? gives you chance for fan service in both the beefcake and cheesecake sides. I’m sure there will be enough costume casualties that a NSFW version can be made too – for Deviant Art or maybe your Patreon folks first.
A line up’s not a bad idea, except for how long it would take to draw 30 people all at once. :)
No rush. A little whenever you can and/or you feel like it and when its done it’d done.
closer to 40, but I agree that mug shot line up and wanted posters are an excellent Idea!
Do it in 5 page layout. More room for camp and if they get all five they can lay them out physically side by side for the full effect. That’s six per page basically. Heck you can w/five page layout go from actual mug shot station all the way to N-ray scanner at initial processing…page six bonus could be lawyers lining up- some happy some very unhappy some scared of who they’re talking to on the phone. More room for easter eggs that way too… (you can sneak in cameos from other super pages w/comments, “Sorry, got in the wrong queue.” or “This isn’t the DMV.” ) at the base of the page you could run actual mug shots for each bad guy caught. Their ARC Swat smart ass name and what they call themselves… // it’d take time probably more than you have now…so patreon incentive?
Me likey this idea! What would you do for those that got away, though? A panel of “wanted to help ArcSwat with their inquiries,” perhaps?
in case Sidney ever visits the UK, she might want to try a few of these burgers:

DaveB As an incentive to vote, might we have a rogue’s gallery, i.e. a group photo of those who have been arrested, showing both men and women standing in line? allow for fan service to be performed on both the beefcake and cheesecake portions. There will undoubtedly be enough wardrobe malfunctions to justify creating an NSFW version, perhaps first for your Patreon backers or followers on Deviant Art.
Another fantastic piece from Fred Perry! The attention to detail in Sydney’s pose really brings the scene to life. And the nod to comic collectors is a fun touch that adds depth to the artwork. Looking forward to more commissions like this
