Grrl Power #163 – No one appreciates a good defense
We’re not going to go through the whole team, this page and the last are just to show a bit of a demonstration montage, then show a few of the main characters, and scene.
The radio show didn’t happen again. At this point just pay attention to this space or the facebook or twitter accounts, if it looks like it will go down I’ll update on all 3, but I probably won’t know till late on Saturday.
Fans of superhero novels should be pleased by quite a few sequels coming out. Two of my favorite series have updates. Wearing the Cape has Young Sentinels, and Kid Sensation has Extraction (which is just a short story but it’s still good and hey, it’s only $.99. I’ve finished both and they’re great. Currently I’m reading The Trials of Renegade X, then it’s on to The Impostor #2: The Blood Machine, while we wait for the sequel to Confessions of a D-List Supervillain. I’m not so insecure to admit that I also really enjoyed Confessions author’s other novel, Rider: Spirals of Destiny, even though it was about tweenage girls riding battle unicorns. I would also be pleased with a sequel to that.
In other nerd news, any PC gamers that like FPSs should really check out the new Shadow Warrior game. I’ve been playing it a level at a time when I get a little time in the evenings and it’s really fun. Since it’s PC only, it’s looks REALLY good. Not to diss on the console platforms, but the hardware in them is 8 years old at this point, and Shadow Warrior takes advantage of the power of a decent gaming rig. The use of color in the game, and the high res textures really impressed me. I was walking through a cave in the game and just stopped and stared at the wall for a bit. It’s been a long time since I’ve been impressed with textures in a game. (Mostly because of memory constraints in consoles, and nearly every game is built for consoles first since they’re the lowest common denominator, then ported to PC) Thankfully the next gen consoles have a lot more RAM, so that will improve quite a bit in the next few years.
Shadow Warrior runs like lightning on my machine, and it’s almost 5 years old (with an nVidia 660 ti I put in at the beginning of this year). It’s made by ex-Painkiller people, and those guys definitely know their FPSs. They put out another PC only shooter a while ago called Hard Reset, and Shadow Warrior uses an iteration of that engine. Hard Reset has a demo on STEAM, so if you’re worried your machine can’t handle it, grab that demo and check it out.
The Wearing the Cape series is excellent, I agree.
Yeah Im a long term cape fan, and have even mentioned that series here a few times, but you guys really might want to check out another one that has a new volume, H.E.R.O. has a new book out as well, while his writing is at times slightly on what I would call a highly basic, or juvenile nature he does have an amazing imagination and does belt the stuff out at an outstanding rate. Not to mention that for the most part he keeps everything in a cohesive order that you can follow. Another good, and I mean really good sereis i’m waiting for the next book on is by Ben White, the series is, “Charlotte Powers Series” Her ability is the main thing I like about the series and why I like it so much. She is a power duplicator, only she can duplicate every power around her within a certain radius. This is both very handy and has some very bad drawbacks. It is however well worth the read. The H.E.R.O. series just grows on you after a while once you start reading it and its more like a soap opera for super heroes that you just can’t put down once you start getting into it. Not sure if that’s a positive plug or not but you get the idea…
I have the first in the HERO series on my Kindle, but the length of the first book and the sheer numbers of books have me a little leery about jumping in. I’ve added the Charlotte Powers series to my wishlist though, I’ll check that out soon.
Ben White has a second series about a Pirate Princess which is damn good too, but its not a series about super heroes. On another note I’m getting near publication of a book I’ve been writing myself. When I do finish it and publish on kindle I plan to mention it here because it’s going to be a sort of super hero series. Thought I’d mention it if only slightly…
I don’t mind if people pimp relevant material here, even if it’s self promotion, as long as it’s not obnoxious.
Actually I mentioned it because once I’m done I’d like to see what you think of it. It’s been taking a while, I have the outline done, and now I just have to write it following my outline. I really respect your work and happen to be a fan of your art, and as such, one artist, of a sort, to another I’d like to see what you think once I finally get to the point of publication.
Sure, sounds good. I’ve been reading so many superhero novels lately I almost feel like trying my hand at one. I’m not sure if it would be an extension of this world or a totally seperate universe. The problem being (besides time obviously) is that I think I’m a pretty terrible wordsmith. Dialog I can do, but the turn of phrase needed to put together a novel that reads above a 3rd grade reading level I’m not so sure about. Every once in a while I’ll get totally turned around on how to phrase a sentence so that it smoothly conveys what I want while not being an egregious run on, and stuff like that. Also I think if I ever got to the proofing stage, my editors would eventually do that Full Metal Jacket thing where the tie me up with bedsheets and beat me with soap. Maybe that was Platoon. FMJ I think but you get the point.
You know… blocking a cruise missile with his face might have been a better demonstration for Achilles.
Or they could have had Maxima blast him. Seriously, headbutting a tank was all he could think of?
In Achilles case, he’s screwed anyway.
Only being invulnerable can only do so much.
Though they could have challenged the Mythbusters to hurt the living daylights out of him.
Or just trumped it up to 11 themselves and just nuked him, literally.
No, but it was the funniest thing I could think of. (that also fit on the confines of this page without spilling over into its own thing, etc etc.)
You could of had Maxima or someone hit him in the face with the tank.
Being invulnerable does not mean he is immune to inertia. Max would have batted him across the field and it still would have been unimpressive.
Have Max throw him through the tank.
That’s actually pretty good!
Is it too late for a mini comic? Just Achilles standing there saying “No, Sydney. I’m not going to jump in a wood chipper for the demonstration. No.”
That would jam the woodchipper
poor poor wood chipper, lol
how much Achilles could a wood chipper chip if a wood chipper could chip Achilles
Oh god, no.
Only a guess here, but I’m going to say just his ankles.
According to legend, it was Achille’s HEEL that was his vulnerability, not his ankles…
Have you ever tried to hold someone upside down and dip them by just their heels? Even the loneliest super hero in the universe does not have that kind of grip. Besides many of the old texts use the word “αγκυλος”.
Thetis was a god, not a superhero ;)
Sydney: “Stick your hand in a garbage disposal? Jump in a vat of molten iron? Threesome with Jiggawatt and Heatwave? Swan dive from the space station? Tank match with a Great White shark? Take a chainsaw to your…”
Achilles: “No. No. No. Wait. What was the third thing?”
I was expecting a similar reaction, but it still got me laughing :P
J and H: *looks at each other and blasts Achilles into next month*
Good entertainment. :)
Achilles is just standing in the aftermath like “I’m fine”
That would’ve gone great! :D
Except large scale explosions and displays of destruction pose a bigger risk to those in attendance than slamming your face on a tank or burrowing a hole in it.
Necessary secondary superpowers…
Achilles: extremely resistant (but not indestructible) hair, if he’s to both keep a snappy haircut and block cruise missiles with his face. Or is that why they didn’t test him using another cruise missile? Lack of indestructible hair?
Stalwart: an anchor sort of ability, or perhaps ‘frame lock’ (reference to frame drag…). It’s either an anchor/lock ability, or he’s gotta out-mass a tank sufficiently to be able to kick it instead of shove himself off of it, and given he wears shoes that won’t withstand the kick, I assume he’s not super-massive, just locking himself in place while he makes the kick.
Jiggawatt: this one is special. I don’t think she so much summons lightning as controls electricity. Note the barrel of the cannon- melted in two. A typical lightning strike, once hitting the cannon barrel, would flow along the length of the barrel to the turret, and then down through the tank to the ground, only leaving metal long enough to cross any small insulated gaps. Instead, the lightning passed across the width of the barrel and jumped back into the air – not typical lightning behavior at all.
Have I missed any necessary secondary powers?
Well Stalwart has a resistance against knockback. I gues that counts
Jiggawatt’s entry in Who’s Who indicates she can “generate and control lightning”. As such I would say that she certainly can summon it. And there is no reason to expect it to behave in the normal fashion for the naturally occurring variety, given that it is under her conscious control, so does what she wants it to do.
Power stunts she may have or be able to develop with practice:
Ball lightning – at low power to provide illumination, or higher to herd bad guys.
Cage lightning – continually summon lightning in columns to form a circle surrounding a villain that needs to be contained.
Dancing lightning – Las Vegas show dancers formed out of lightning for entertainment or distraction.
Your Dancing lightning idea makes me think of the Thunder Spider from The Bard’s Tale. But with less legs. :)
with jiggy’s power, it would all boil down to the amount of volt/amps in the strike. With enough wattage transferred fast enough, the thermal bleed off from the electrical resistance to the electrical bolt might cause it to get hot enough to melt…
I’m betting control of lightning = control of powerful magnetic fields – just spin the lightning in a circle – in air (ooooh, pretty light… Must touch…) or in metal. The latter could probably punch nice round holes in thick metal – head up to the enemy tank, punch a disk of metal out of the armor and use magnetic fields to fling the armored disk at some unlucky target.
stalwart probably took off the shoe to prove it wasn’t power armor. if it was a vertical enough kick, it wouldn’t be a matter of mass, but leverage, like a car jack.
My question is, if one of their lesser guys are that strong, then exactly how strong is Max? Those tanks are usually around 100 ton, which if I remember correctly, is Thor’s level of strength in Marvel, so him and Stalwart are approximately matched strength-wise…
Considering that one was probably stripped to it’s frame and armor I’d say more like 50 tons. But yeah, that’s a scary thought.
No, he took the shoe off so he wouldn’t damage it (do you know how expensive those are?)
Yeah Marvel does have that “official” cap of 100 tons, but on the other hand, DC has Superman stated to be able to lift over 200,000 tons, and the DC Captain Marvel (Shazam) is equal to Superman physically, and Captain Marvel and Thor went toe to toe fairly evenly in DC vs Marvel, and in the JLA/Avengers crossover, which is (or was for DC before the “New 52”) an in continuity story for both companies (and Superman pushed to the breaking point and armed with Captain America’s shield and Thor’s hammer was awesome).
64 tons according to wikipedia, and this one is stripped down, though I don’t know how much weight that would save you. The guys in the other responses are right though, you can’t compare supers from one company to the next since the power scales can be so far off, and when there’s a crossover, usually there’s a lot of nerfing/buffing going on.
just enough to make it interesting, if done well.
not only would the electricity travel along the tank, but any jumps it made (such as from the barrel to the body, as it would) would be where the damage takes place (both the starting point of the jump and the finish) I actually work with electricity like this daily. Not only would the jumping points be damaged, but anything fairly close.
Previously one character mentioned that his hairstyle was stuck in the 80’s so he may have invulnerable hair too but it just doesn’t grow.
Thought of a really cool way to show of invulnerability. Take a small amount of c4, split into two. Take one half, chuck behind self and detonate to show that yes, it’s explosive. Other half goes into mouth, close mouth and detonate. Open mouth to ‘drool’ smoke.
Two bottles of whiskey to cleanse palette.
If he really is THAT indestructible, then how about he swallows a bunch of rocket fuel, wait a few hours for it to get where it’s needed, then ignite it and go flying?
Surely because of that Achilles deserves at least half a star in the flight category?!
Other solution: let him do Dr. Strangelove.
Yes he really is. Cast page says: “He has shrugged off attacks that would destroy matter on the subatomic level.”
As noted by the fact on the cast page, his “Durability/Invulnerability” has 6 out of 5 pips.
Bonus points if after doing it saying something like:
“Worst meatball EVER!”
“That’s-a SPICY Meatball!”
o,o did he leave to prints on that tank? o,o
toe*
Yes, yes he did.
The headbutt has the sound effect “Zidane”. Loved it!
Ok………. Now I want to know why Halo/Sydney is appearing at the top of my page holding aloft a Baby Ruler…
https://puu.sh/4KHEq.png
Every time you enter the site, the caste gallery at the top of the page changes to a random selection. The pictures are cropped from various earlier issues. The one you are describing is the scene where Sydney imagines presenting her son, Sydney Scoville the 3rd, to the world.
Along the lines of one of the opening (or closing) scenes from Lion King.
Damn, they’ve really wrecked that tank. Those things aren’t cheap! You would have thought they’d at least have tried to find an obsolete M60 or something instead of a modern Abrams.
All signs point to Abrams having just become obsolete.
Besides with the way the Contractors are cranking them out there is a HUGH surplus.
This particular one especially.
They are only using the one tank between 4 supers (does Les’s ‘attack’ count? doesn’t seem like it even put a dent in the armour)
Ahhhh, nice first panel! Jiggawatt is more sexy/scary than I hoped she would be. Like Max, but a little more dainty and ladylike, somehow. I wonder if she can use her ability to mess with circuits, or even mess with nervous systems. Make you go blind, have a heart attack, or whatever. Lots to ponder, there.
Poor Achilles isn’t the showman he thinks he is. Even Suzie wasn’t impressed, despite her polite applause. Now, if Max had hauled him up to a few thousand feet high and dropped him in front of the stands, I think his little wave and bow would have made a much stronger impression.
Stalwart is one powerful dude! The force lines on his kicking foot and behind his anchor foot look good. So much power. I have to agree with Suzie. “Wahoo!”
Thanks for another fine page, DaveB. :)
The human body is suprisingly well protected against electricity from outside, so it would depend on how far her control of the lightning would go.
I doubt she could cause an EMP blast, that’s more explosion than lightning. But by selectively striking something with computers she could probably fry it
From Wiki on Lightning:
The rapidly changing currents also create electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) that radiate outward from the ionic channel. This is a characteristic of all electrical sparks. The radiated pulses rapidly weaken as their distance from the origin increases. However if they pass over conductive elements; i.e., electrical wires, communication lines or metallic pipes, they may induce a current which travels outward to its termination. This is the “surge” that more often than not, results in the destruction of delicate electronics, electrical appliances or electric motors.
Oooh, sciency!
Good old electromagnetism. Electromagnetic force (EMF). The only time an electric charge doesn’t have a magnetic field is when it isn’t moving, like in a capacitor or battery. Once current starts to flow, the moving charge creates a magnetic field. In reverse, collapsing magnetic fields generate current. In theory, Magneto could discharge lightning by collapsing a magnetic field and Jiggawatt could create a magnetic field by generating a current. If they wanted to. It’s all EMF.
I’m actually glad that Jiggy is more of a Magneto variant and not so much a Storm clone.
Now that you mention it, same here
IIRC Magneto was resistant to Storm’s Lightning because of the relationship between Electricity and Magnetism.
EMP “hardening” works just like that for electronic components. The most sensitive components are simply surrounded in a metal shell. Any change in the ambient EM field *outside* of the metal shell is conducted through the shell & spares the components inside. Indeed, coils & inductors are “hardened” in this way so that their own EM fields don’t disrupt other, nearby components!
Perhaps ARCHON wants to keep the full extent of Achilles’ abilities a secret. Alternatively, it is entirely possible that most of the really impressive demonstrations would ruin his clothes.
Now, that said, me, I’d demonstrate his invulnerability (if they want to ) by shooting him with something large and impressively high-caliber, like a .50 cal sniper rifle, or a howitzer (although the C4 idea has something to be said for it).
If shooting him is not really good, you could also use him to demonstrate some of Max’s powers. For instance, have her take him up to about 15000 feet, and then drop him on the tank.
I would also like to point out that what really makes this particular strip cool for me is that it focuses on heroes we really haven’t seen before, and probably won’t see again as part of the main comic.
Part of what makes a story good is those moments (like this strip) that let the reader know that there is a much larger world out there, one that is either like or unlike our own, but which is sufficiently familiar to the characters that they don’t remark on the difference. In many cases, we don’t NEED to know anything more about those references–for instance, why Sheldon removes his shows is really sort of irrelevant, as he’s mainly a side character. If the author wants to go into more detail about that particular quirk, he can, but what it means to us readers is that it drives home two points: clothing is not indestructible (something most comics ignore, especially as regards that clothing that covers adult-rated zones), and that supers can, if they should so wish, pretty effectively blend into a crowd.
These last few strips also establish something else that’s cool/important. So far, all of Archon that we’ve seen in the comic has been focused around roughly a dozen supers or super-equivalents. To put it frankly, there really is no reason why ARCHON, as it has been shown so far, would need a general to lead it, or a colonel to oversee it, or, for that matter, why Max could not just run the whole thing herself, without help from Arianna or most of the other people in that huge building we saw. By showing other supers like this, and by grouping them together, we get a much better feel for ARCHON’s size, and we get to see why most of the team might be present at once: there are other teams, and the folks in the ARCHON building probably are basically taking advantage of an existing structure that was placed primarily for administrative purposes.
Plus, if Dave ever decides to do a spinoff comic regarding , then this press demonstration would be the IDEAL place to start, as it would let the characters showcase their powers, and something of their interactions between characters. Most of those teams would, I would think, be led by a captain or a major (generally a captain), since that would emphasize ARCHON’s role as a military force, but would still leave Max, whose power would make her one of the most important members anyway, as effectively the unit’s second-in-command.
at that height they’d either have to dig him out of the hole, or everybody gets showered with dirt when he decides to pull a Belly-Buster
It’s probably similar to Storm’s ability. Works on the macro scale, but extremely difficult at the micro level
And now watch it show her helping Peggy out with a bit of Arc-welding.
I officially think Jiggawatt is awesome… I don’t think I’m mentally pronouncing it right, though, unless the first syllable is supposed to be “jig” like the Irish dance.
Yeah. They used that in the Back to the Future movies because nobody knew how Gigawatt was SUPPOSED to be pronounced. Hence the “Doc Brown” reference in her character card
Actually, “jigawatt” is a perfectly acceptable (though obsolete) way of pronouncing “gigawatt”. The reason they used it in Back to the Future is because that’s how the physicist they consulted pronounced it.
It might help to note the similarity with “gigabytes” of data, for those of you who’ve heard anything about hard drive data capacity…Whether it’s bytes or watts (or hertz, or anything else), the “giga” is just a type of prefix denoting a multiplier of “units.”
Dave B. did you ever play the original Shadow Warrior? It was a ton of fun through it did get a lot of flak for stereotyping. Ref:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfYEL7IQyaY
OMG I remember that game we were playing it in a network cafe (not internet cafe since it didn’t had internet just local network) on a custom map for hours. Map was incomplete and most doors were forgotten to add and was part of nature so it was like having secret doors
Oh yeah. I’ve been hooked on FPSs since Doom II.
Actually I was originally really put off by the previews of this game because the voice was so different. I mean… yeah maybe you make the argument that the voice work was a little racist, but then, doesn’t that make Victor Wong’s entire career a little racist?
The new voicework is totally competent but powerfully forgettable.
Check out “Who want some Wang?” https://www.soundboard.com/sb/lowang_shadow_warrior
I was watching launch trialer of Shadow Warrior on steam and the music was from Transformers Animated Movie. I never felt that nostalgic before :P
Been loving the series thus far. This page is no exception.
Now…especially since we’re just starting to see the extent of archon, any way we could get an update on the cast page? Especially Jiggawatt…
Yeah, I started working on that last night. I may have it updated by the time the next comic goes up.
…I halfway expected Jiggawatt to say”that’s how you do a Thunder Break!”…
I half expected to have “Thunderstruck” playing in the background.
if halo got to set the soundtrack the shock would come from the thundercats theme playing.
I gotta say I get really tired of reading all these comments (not just on this strip) of people saying “well it must work This Way in the comic because that’s how it works In Real Life.” I don’t know how you put up with it, Dave. IT’S A FREAKIN’ COMIC. Let him write his own rules. It’s already got super-powered weird-looking people, for crying out loud. Geeze.
Who are you calling ‘weird-looking’? o_O
Dabby? (She’s a little weird looking, but in a good way.)
Well for the most part, the world is supposed to be basically this world, with just a few divergent things happening in the background. It’s not “this world but also with force field technology” or something. JFK was still assassinated even though there was a super on the secret service, 9/11 still happened, and the iPhone 5 just came out.
Plus I don’t mind “in the real world” discussions because I am sadly non-worldly so I’ll take what advice people are willing to give. Also it’s just fun to discuss whether or not reactive armor would explode if you kicked it hard enough to flip the tank over. :)
in a field demo where the tank is exposed to heat and electricity with media people taping? the chances that a target tank would still have any explosive or (other than the seat pads and under proper situations armor itself) flammable materials is less than zero.
Love how, even though she still clapped, even Suzie wasn’t impressed by Les’s attack (does it actually count as an attack if it didn’t even dent the tank?)
Heh heh, love how she is jumping up like that during ‘Warts’ demonstration :D
Can we get a mini-comic/vote-incentive of poor Les being consoled by Harem because he is crying that no-one was impressed by his demonstration?
Good to finally see Jiggawat in action (is her catch phrase: “Let’s get Jiggy with it!”?)
is it based on the old shadow warrior fps? WHOOOOO wants some WANG!
Yeah it’s the same IP and it uses the names Lo Wang and Zilla, and you have a katana, but honestly the similarities end there. It’s still an excellent game, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a solid single player FPS experience.
DaveB, I was reading through a few other web comics’ archives, and I couldn’t help but notice how much faster they load on my phone than the Grrl Power archives. I know it’s probably due to some of the cool features like the comments and who’s who, and I don’t know how much control you have over the website software, but you might think about using ajax or something to save bandwidth. It’s not really a problem, and it’s probably not even noticable on a good connection, but you it’s possible you could save some money on hosting costs at the same time.
Nothing critical; just an observation from someone with a slow connection.
There’s probably a few minor things I could do to that would speed up the page load times, but probably not a whole lot. I know I didn’t make some of the graphics on the page as optimized as they could be for instance. Eventually I’ll get around to a page update of some sort, but for now I’ll be happy to get a minor update to the cast page done. :)
After some more thought and a few experiments, the comic images load plenty fast enough. That sense of impatience was from waiting for comments to load. I don’t read comments on other web comics usually because they don’t have them.
I happened to notice that Stalwart is wearing a suit. And not the kind of suit the others are wearing. Also, Mr. Amorphous, you now hold the honor of “creepiest super in this comic (so far).”
Sorry, I meant Achilles.
Wart part-times as a bouncer (if you ask “which stripjoint?” his next demonstration will have you playing the part of the tank)
Umm, did you use a ‘real face’ as the model/base for panel 5?
Google “blue steel” :)
You mean, that Ben Stiller movie? o_O
Given that Google uses personalising algorithms to customise results based on previous searching history, everybody can end up with differing results using the same search term. So it means that you can inadvertently reveal your own browsing biases when making comments about the top result. Which could be embarrassing if it was some hard porn website. Or less so for a metallurgy site for sword enthusiasts.
In this case though, my page too filled up with results from that movie. Having an antipathy for Ben Stiller, I can guarantee that I have never Googled his name. So that will probably be the top result for most people who do not have some specialist areas of interest which overlap the words “blue” and “steel”. Barring some regional variance, as different results can get a higher weighting in some countries.
The first result for “blue steel” for me was the 1989 Jamie Lee Curtis movie “Blue Steel”, 2nd was about the Avro ‘Blue Steel’, followed by the Zoolander Wiki and the 1934 movie “Blue Steel” :D
I just watched Zoolander for the first time last night. I had seen parts of the movie before, but never the whole thing. I enjoyed it.
While Shadow war does look interesting my free time to play video games is going to be taken up by another that is coming out soon. I have had a slight addiction to Pokemon games for some time. And with a new one just about to come out I think most of my time will be spent with it.
I think keeping it short but doing a similar thing, you should’ve had one of the stronger females use him as a sledgehammer on the tank!
Just finished Masks, which another reader recommended. Well, part 1 anyway. Since I just found out there are 15 parts, plus a plethora of other stories by the author on his site, I guess I have a lot more reading ahead of me… :)
Whenever I see a page like that I desperately want to write a stylish script for it. :/
All i can say is:
Maxima – Hammer
Archilles – Nail
Tank – board
When it is time for Sydney to display her powers, I’m wondering how many reporters are going to ask about the “toxic breath weapon” and “super-strength” (flipping a dude by his tongue) that she demonstrated at the bank hold-up.
That’s a good question. Now that you mention it, I went back to look. In #149, Bob Newhart started to ask about Sydney in the bank, but that’s when Arianna moved to introductions. Since then, it’s been one thing after another. I forgot, but I do hope one of the reporters remembers to ask. I’d like to see how Ari handles it.
Noting that those …. “capabilities” were the only ones that Sydney demonstrated on the ‘leaked’ (and now extremely popular) bank robbery footage.
Idea…If Stalwart were to kick Achilles, after his presentation, then have him stand up looking fine, that would’ve caused a better reaction.
It would probably take Achilles several minutes to run back to the press conference after getting kicked by Stalwart.
Not if a flying hero with some strength (ie: Maxima) were already “downrange” to catch Achilles & bring him back.
The problem with his show of defense is the delivery not the power. If one of the others used a powerful attack/explosion or if he strapped himself with C4 and blew it out and walked out of the flames and/or smoke they would appreciate it much more.
I bet I am not the only one picturing the terminator walking out of the flaming inferno of a burning tanker.
I’m thinking the best version of this would be if Maxima ran both him and the tank about a half mile away, then Sydney hit the tank with her “Pew Pew Orb.”
So if Achilles stood in front of a speeding train, would he turn the train into a pile of derailed scrap metal, or would he get knocked aside and remain unhurt?
I think he’d bounce. Stalwart might derail the train. Anvil might shatter the train with a rebound, but we haven’t seen her in action, so I’m not sure.
Yeah, he is invulnerabubble, not unmovable, maybe not ‘bounce off’, maybe more like ‘a giant scraggly-haired bug on a windshield’
Now I have a mental image of Stalwart using Achilles as a shield(straps and all)to stop a train.
I hope her mass increases by 21% when she uses her powers or something.
that look that Achilles has reminds me of the guild leader of Blue Pegasus in Fairy Tail.
Not sure if someone mentioned this, but Arianna is off her game.
They should have had Stalwart swing Achilles at the tank. That would have gotten some more attention, and not left a dud in the middle of the presentation,
Those shoes cant be cheap, take them off when committing super powered acts!
so that’s totally Storm from X-Men in the first panel right
If you can believe it I didn’t notice that until I actually drew it. I need to change her hair color.
His real power is the ability to remain handsome regardless of situation.
Figures…get a lot of superheroes together and they all just get tanked.
Haha, “ZIDANE”! Love your unconventional “sound effects”. :P
Has been mentioned before, but I love that “zidane” is a sound effect XD.
