So Leon evidently has his nerd chops in order. And don’t worry if you had trouble parsing “When does the narwhal bacon?” It is in no way a proper sentence, but to some of us, it makes sense. I will grant it is more of a Geek reference than a Nerd one though, according to my own private definition if the words.
Now something else to entertain you, Fred Perry of Gold Digger fame, which I’ve mentioned a few times before as being my favorite comic is finally doing a webcomic. As well as continuing a regular schedule with Gold Digger, cause Fred is a machine. You don’t even need to read its About section to tell that it’s heavily influenced by Adventure Time and My Little Pony. It’s called Action Time Buddies. It’s just getting started but still swing by and give it a look see.
Edit: A bit of an update, I’ve replaced Bochs with Puck, despite my memory, Bochs was a double amputee, and not actually a Dwarf. Also I’ve added Carrot – there’s a lot of dwarves I could have included but there’s only so much space and Carrot is one of the more notable ones.
I see you do not believe that Carrot is a dwarf.
This is, in face, completely incorrect of you.
Kzad-bhat(head-banger) “Carrot” Ironfoundersson is a Dwarf by nurture, not nature. which makes him even more of one, since he had to work at it with an extra 2 feet of height.
Carrot not a dwarf? That’s sizeism, that is. The Patrician will hear of this!
Doctor Who References You Are AWESOME I Love You XD now do a couple Supernatural and Sherlock References and you’ll be my #1 Comic <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
YES! TERRY PRATCHETT REFERENCE FTW!!
You are now my favorite webcomic artist.
Where is Durkon ?
Order of the Stick clearly doesn’t exist in this world, which can only mean one thing: CROSSOVER!
i could have sworn he said urist at one point
I know I said it before, but I’m rereading, so I can comment again, dammit. I am horribly ashamed that you did not include Moradin, the Forgemaster.
Though I’ll admit, he might not TECHNICALLY be a dwarf himself, but he IS the creator, and patron deity, of the dwarves in standard 3.5. I don’t know who they use in Greyhawk, though.
So, I’d probably name Gimli, Cheery, Durkon, Orik, and Ahira. I’m pretty novice-level, aren’t I?
I know this is very late to the party but “Technically” Carrot is a dwarf.
“but being human is just being born to human parents. That’s easy. But being a dwarf doesn’t mean being born to dwarfs, though it’s a good start. It’s about certain things you do. Certain ceremonies. I’ve done them. So I’m a human and a dwarf.”
Panel 5 is a study in the following emotion:
“I used to be a nerd, but now I feel left out and am missing having such exchanges.”
I don’t think we have a word for that emotion. Nerdenvy? Geekphilia?
Regeek?
Nerdstalgia?
Geek ja vu?
BIG miss out on Ogden Stonehealer, the last dwarf on the surface of Tyria. Appearing in both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2
Umm, actually both Bruenors Battlehammer (there were 2 of them) and Binwin Bronzebottom are from the same universe – Forgotten Realms (Sword Coast, Faerun, Toril, Prime Material Plane).
I think that it says less about Leon that he knows the answers than the fact that he isn’t fazed by the questions.
By the way, he forgot Urist. Technically, there are a great multitude of Urists in a great multitude of universes, but they don’t really count because they’re all just from different world gens in the same game.
Fjalar (Norse mythology), Yagrum (technically not a dwarf, but that’s what they’re called by Men in Tamriel, so…), Hothfarr IX (Might and Magic 7), Kurgan (WHFB), does Gutsco count? (FF3), Hrothgar (Inheritance cycle).
Actually technically Carrot is a Dwarf, just not biologically
The sub page comment is incorrect. Carrot is very much TECHNICALLY a dwarf.
Guards! Guards! cover text:
“”Be a MAN in the City Watch! The City watch needs MEN!”
But what it’s got includes
Corporal Carrot (technically a dwarf),
Lance-constable Cuddy (really a dwarf),
Lance-constable Detritus (a troll),
Lance-constable Angua (a woman … most of the time)
and Corporal Nobbs (disqualified from the human race for shoving).”
Ok, so for a comic that has been so meticulous about word usage so far; you’re using nerd and geek incorrectly. You can look it up for yourself but basically a nerd is someone knowledgeable on say computers and chemistry. While a geek is knowledgeable on star wars and doctor who. For example I’m being a vocabulary nerd right now.
Dr. Robert “Mongo” Fredrickson. Total Nerd points…?
Not every nerd knows everything that qualifies as nerdy. There’s simply too much nerdy stuff our there for anyone to know it all. That being the case, I only recognized about half the dwarves on that list, and I’m definitely a nerd. Anyway, it occurred to me that our universe qualifies as a universe in which dwarves exist, so perhaps one of them should have been included on Leon’s list. Perhaps Kenny Baker, the dwarf actor who gave personality to R2D2?
It’s almost disappointing to see Leon falling into the old ‘fictional universes only’ trap. I’m not aware of our universe being notable enough for someone in theirs to write about, but surely he wouldn’t forget (minor spoiler) the shortest adult in his own team. (Perspective shift: we see the ARC universe as fiction and our own as fact; they would see theirs as fact and ours as potential fiction.)
And I forget that calling a link overrides the spoiler block! Ah well, it’s a minor one anyway.
